UNLEASHING YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTING

God is the ultimate gift giver. He has given life, the most precious gift of all to man, His creation. One of the Hebrew words for gift is minchah. It translates as offering or tribute. Even when man was deceived and disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, He devised

a plan that would redeem man back through the shed blood and sacrificial offering of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “And so it is writ-
ten, “The first man Adam became a living being, the last Adam became a lifegiving spirit.” 1 Corinthians
15:45. The redemption of man would restore the original intent, to be fruitful, multiply, but most of all to commune with God through worship. Our Lord Jesus made it clear that He came to do just that. “I have come
that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10.

How is it then that many born again believers are living beneath their Godgiven privilege? There are those that battle lack, depression, anxiety, fear, and frustration. The result of these negative emotions is unfruitfulness and unfulfillment. God wants us to be passionate about the gifts that He has placed on the inside of us. Ephesians 1:3
says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in
Christ.”
God loves to bestow blessings on His sons and daughters. Besides the gift of life, He has given the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our helper, comforter, guide and so much more. He is the Spirit of God Himself. In 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, we read that it is He who assigns to every born again believer spiritual gifts to aid in spiritual warfare. Every born again believer has an appointment and duty to fight. God through the Holy Spirit has equipped us with weaponry. “For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” II Corinthians 10:4.
There are also gifts that I would just call natural talents. The common definition of talent is a natural skill or ability to perform that does not require much effort. These natural talent gifts are what we are born with. For example, one may have the ability to write, sing, paint, or draw. Along with the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit, our natural talent gifts will bring us into the purposed place in life that God predestined for us when we recognize them and begin to use them for His glory. That is why the Bible declares in Proverbs 18:16 that a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.
Inadvertently, when we do not use our spiritual gifts nor talents we forfeit our spiritual blessings. In Matthew Chapter 25, we read about the parable of the talents. The Bible defines a talent as weight in gold and silver, which was a form of money. One of the Greek words for talent is talanton, which translates as a unit of money or balance. This parable illustrates how our spiritual gifts and natural talents are to be used for the advancement of the kingdom of God when we offer them back to God through obedience. It also illustrates how the omission of our spiritual gifts and natural talents through disobedience will profit nothing. The three servants in the parable were not given the same talent. However, they were expected to multiply it. The first two servants did just that. The third servant buried his talent and did not increase it.
Our lot in life is not determined by our circumstances but by what we did with what God gifted us with. Make the decision from this day going forward to be a good steward over the giftings that God has given you. When you make the decision to do so, you will find fulfillment, joy, financial increase, and peace but most of all, the reward that comes from honoring and obeying God.
Matthew 25:23 says, “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’”
You will no longer fret or be in despair because your faithfulness has produced an abundant harvest.
Matthew 25:29, “For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance.”
