NIGHT NOODLE MARKET
One of the joys of travelling in Asia is immersing in the local culture, especially the hustle and bustle, the noise and what often can be the intimidating life on the street. The street culture in Asian cities is captivating and infectious, especially when savouring the wonderful delights of hawker food or sitting at sidewalk bars watching the organised chaos whiz by. Melburnians love a good Asian “fry up” and the associated undeniable sensory delights of smoke, sizzle, steam and spice of the food that has become our go-to comfort fare. Add music, entertainment, bars and chill-out areas and you have an insatiable combination. The Melbourne Night Noodle Market kicks off again this year on November 9 at Birrarung Marr with more than 30 food stalls to choose from. There is a range of different Asian cuisines from Korean fried chicken to Vietnamese noodles, Chinese dumplings and Japanese sushi.
This year food stall holders include Mr Miyagi, Hoy Pinoy, Wonderbao, Bambu, Hochi Mama, Gelato Messina and Black Star Pastry. There will also be a Coonawara pop-up cellar door, beer matching sessions with Beer the Beautiful Truth and Pimms on tap in the Garden Bar. To accompany the food and drinks there will also be live music and entertainment. This year the event is set to debut as a standalone event with The Age Good Food Month moving to June. Starting November 9th, the market will run until the 26th on the banks of the Yarra River at Birrarung Marr. Mon & Tue 5pm–9pm Wed & Thu 5pm–10pm Fri 5pm–11pm Sat 4pm–10pm Sun 4pm–9pm
