Welcome to Burlington
Burlington is one of Canada’s best cities. Among being situated on the shores of Lake Ontario and being conveniently located within an hour of Toronto and Niagara Falls, Burlington has been named the best mid-sized city in Canada by MoneySense magazine. Burlington is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario between Toronto and Hamilton with an approximate population of 193,000, whom in which represent a diverse population. Burlington has a great record of employment opportunities, low crime rates and a safe community feel.
History
The natural advantages of Burlington attracted aboriginal people years prior to the first settlers that attained the lakefront in the late 1700s. In 1669 French explorer, Rene Robert Cavalier, and Sieur de La Salle arrived where La Salle park is now located. In 1784 the British admitted a generous amount of land to Captain Joseph Brant in honor of fighting in the US War of Independence. Two structures nearby Brant’s home are the Joseph Brant Museum and the Joseph Brant Hospital, both in which are memorials to his name. Between1820 and 1850, oak and pine timbers were the area’s principal export, and by 1900, Burlington had developed into a prosperous farming community with mixed farms and plentiful crops.

There are also many special events for all to participate in such as The Sound of Music Festival, Burlington Jazz n’ Blues Festival, Art in the Park, Lakeside Festival of Lights and Rotary Ribfest and much more! Burlington is the home to 580.78 hectares of park land, 4 indoor and 2 outdoor pools, 3 splash pads, 12 ice pads, 6 community centers, and 9 golf courses. Burlington’s climate generally consists of warm humid summers and cold, dry winters, due to the proximity of Lake Ontario, which tends to reduce temperature extremes. Each community in Burlington offers homeowners a variety of safety, opportunity and fun. The prices of homes in each community of the city vary based on their proximity to Lake Ontario, the convenience of neighborhood amenities, property taxes, and proximity to schools and healthcare facilities.
