RE/MAX Northern Illinois Launches State-of-the-Art Real Estate App Compatible with Apple and Android Smartphones and Tablets
Finding a new place to rent or own has never been easier or more fun now that the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network is marketing a revolutionary state-of-the art real estate app that is free to consumers and RE/MAX Northern Illinois agents and works with both Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. (To see a brief video of the app’s highlights go to: http://goo.gl/EvF2H4). The RE/MAX Northern Illinois Real Estate App, which can be found in Android and Apple app stores, provides the most comprehensive real estate data available in northern Illinois because it offers active, sold and pending listings directly from the MLS and not third parties. (Visit http://app.illinoisproperty.com/ to download the app.)
Two of the most innovative features of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois Real Estate App are: 1. MAXview Technology, which allows consumers to use the
camera on their mobile device to view homes for sale in their immediate area in real time and see full listing details and photos. 2. Commute Time Search, which provides consumers the
ability to search for properties that are most convenient to them by entering desired drive times, transit times, cycling or walk times. Each variable displays homes for sale based on the criteria entered. (For example, a user can enter a desired drive time to work for himself and spouse, as well as a desired walking or bicycling distance to a child’s school, in order to get a map of homes for sale meeting those criteria.) The RE/MAX Northern Illinois Real Estate app delivers all the features the public comes to expect with a real estate app, plus the ability to do highly interactive map searches, GPS enabled searches, and draw customized search areas. Results yield full listing details and large photos, as well as photos of comparable properties users can review side by side. Consumers who sign up for a free “My RE/MAX” account can save their favorite properties and get a full market perspective by having access to detailed data about pending or recently sold properties. “Once you start using this app, it’s hard to put down. It provides a multitude of relevant ways to search for a home that’s right for you,” stated Casey Reagan, Chief Technology Officer for the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network. “It’s been tremendously satisfying to deliver an app that helps people navigate one of the biggest investments in their life in an informative and fun way.” RE/MAX Northern Illinois brokers will be able to personalize the app and share it with clients as their own through a variety of ways.

Four New Franchises Sold in Chicago and Suburbs in March and April Housing Rebound Brightens Real Estate Business Outlook

Matthew Skiba, Broker/Owner, RE/MAX Landmark, Chicago
RE/MAX Northern Illinois has announced that it has sold four new franchises during the months of March and April. The new offices are evenly divided between the city and suburbs. “We have had an explosion of interest from experienced real estate professionals. They see the housing slump is definitely behind us and this is a perfect time to open their own RE/MAX franchise,” said Jim Merrion, regional director of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate organization.
Merrion noted that when real estate brokers want to go into business for themselves or independent operations wish to convert to a bigger brand, affiliating with RE/MAX, a top global brand and real estate leader, is more attractive than ever.
revitalization of the Logan Square and Humboldt Park areas. We like the rich diversity and the fact that a lot of new real estate development is on the near-term horizon. We plan to contribute to that process.”
“To compete successfully in real estate now, you need a strong technological and educational advantage. RE/MAX has invested heavily in both. It’s difficult for other brokerages, especially independents, to do the same because of the resources and effort required, plus RE/MAX is unique in the fact that there are no middle-man referral fees,” he said.
A new office in Burr Ridge represents an expansion for RE/MAX Professionals, based in Bolingbrook and headed by Broker/Owner Edward Lukasik, Jr., who acquired the Bolingbrook franchise in 2010. The new office is located at 90 Burr Ridge Parkway in the Village Center and is expected to open soon.
Ample resources and innovation are the primary reasons owner Matthew Skiba decided to turn his Landmark, Realtors office, established in 1993, into RE/MAX Landmark on May 1. The new office is located at 6020 W. Higgins Ave., in Chicago’s Jefferson Park neighborhood.
“This is a great opportunity for us to expand and diversify our operations. We will continue to build a strong presence in a market area with a large component of luxury homes and a tradition of being stable across the full economic cycle,” said Lukasik.
“We did well as an independent for many years,” said Skiba, “but the business has changed. The visibility and resources that RE/MAX offers, and its ability to keep us at the forefront of technology, are so important. It makes us more productive as brokers and allows us to give our customers the best possible service.”
Michell Lukasik, his sister, will serve as managing broker of the new office, while his father, Edward Lukasik, Sr., will help the new office get off to a great start.
Another new franchise, RE/MAX Loyalty, will open early June at 3046 W. Armitage Ave., Chicago. It is an exciting new venture for Broker/Owner Mark Santoyo, who has been a Chicago-based agent for 14 years, and for his partner, Broker/Owner Augustina Campos, who will serve as managing broker of the new office. Her sister Ashley will also be part of the team. “We’re thrilled with this opportunity,” said Santoyo, “especially our chance to be involved in the continuing
The fourth new RE/MAX franchise sold recently is owned by Kathy O’Radnik, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX 1st Service in Orland Park. She is operating her franchise of 30 brokers currently and temporarily in nearby Homer Glen. She expects to open doors in Orland Park sometime this summer. “Our location in Orland Park will allow us to offer our brokers a greatly expanded choice of office accommodations, from private offices to work stations, as well as enhanced facilities for working with their clients,” O’Radnik said. “We haven’t made a final site selection yet, but that should happen soon.”

The 2014 RISMedia Power Broker Report named eight RE/MAX brokerages in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market as among the top performing firms across the United States. The report, published this month, is considered one of the most accurate gauges of brokerage performance in the U.S. residential real estate sector. The 2014 Power Broker Report identifies the nation’s 500 most productive real estate firms based on transactions completed and closed sales volume in 2013. RE/MAX agents on average not only closed more transaction sides but also generated sales volume 69 percent higher than the average of all competing agents. RE/MAX agents’ average sales volume for 2013 was $4.3 million, according to the report. That is a 26 percent increase over 2012, while competing agents averaged just $2.5 million. RE/MAX agents also averaged 17.5 transaction sides each an increase of 4.3 percent over their 2012 performance. The average for all other agents in the report was just 8.4 sides.

Tech Day 2014 Helps Brokers Utilize Latest Innovations in Technology
Nothing changes faster than technology, and keeping up with it, even if you are a developer in Silicon Valley, can be daunting. Nearly every new advance in technology has real value for the public and professionals everywhere, and that is especially true for the real estate community. For this reason, the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network hosted Tech Day 2014 on April 24 at K1 Speed in Addison, Illinois. The daylong event was developed by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois Sales Advisory Council (SAC), a group of RE/MAX agents selected from each office in northern Illinois, which helps organize social, business and educational events within the region. The event began with a keynote address by John Reyes, CEO of Social NetworX Inc., a leading social marketing and mobile technology training company for real estate professionals. His presentation was followed by a series of workshops, three in which Reyes discussed how to generate more online leads with video, how to become a paperless agent and how brokers could optimize their website to outrank the competition. Other workshop topics included:
• “Tactics and Takeaways to Up Your Social Media Game Today,” presented by Susan Koch of Soaring Solutions, LLC
• “10 Apps Every Realtor® Needs” and “Google Glass,” presented by Michael Collins of the North Shore – Barrington Association of Realtors®
• “Transaction Management” and “InfoSparks,” presented by Carrie Bey of Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED)
• “Tips on Google Basics, Google Tips and Google+,” presented by Justin Letheby also from MRED
• “Sharing Your RE/MAX Northern Illinois Real Estate App” and
“The RE/MAX Design Center,” presented by Amie Fair of RE/MAX Northern Illinois, these workshops focused on how to use just a few of the RE/MAX organization’s key technology tools
“It was an exceptionally productive day,” said Broker Associate Melissa Somone-Graham, RE/MAX 1st, Elmhurst and SAC president. “I’m confident everyone left the event feeling they had been exposed to a lot of valuable information and fresh perspectives.”

RE/MAX Plaza continues to expand its presence in McHenry and Lake counties in northern Illinois as the real estate market gathers momentum. Recently three outstanding brokers rejoined RE/MAX as members of the growing RE/MAX Plaza sales team. The firm now has 41 brokers at its headquarters in McHenry and locations in the nearby communities of Richmond, Wauconda and Woodstock. “Building our team to more than 40 is really a milestone for us,” said Rob Schaid, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Plaza. “It is especially gratifying to welcome three such experienced brokers with strong reputations in the markets they serve. Adding them to our broker team puts us in a great position to handle the upswing in the market that has been gradually emerging over the last 18 months and that we expect to continue for some time.”
Perkins and Smith have joined the Woodstock office of RE/MAX Plaza, which opened last year and now has nine brokers. Both brokers have long focused their activity in the Harvard, market and will continue to serve that area. “Larry and I have known Rob Schaid for quite a while, and he is a fabulous guy with a very progressive outlook,” said Perkins, a lifelong Harvard resident who has been a real estate professional for more than two decades. “We are looking forward to working with him. When Rob opened his Woodstock office, it made the decision to join him easy for both of us because it is so convenient to Harvard. It’s great to be back in the RE/MAX network. It really is a top-flight organization.” Hauck is once again working at the McHenry office of RE/MAX Plaza, with which she was affiliated previously for six years. “I’m delighted to return because this is a great office and an outstanding staff,” said Hauck, a resident of Cary, and a real estate professional for 15 years. “The new technology Rob has introduced and the growth of the business to four offices are both exciting developments. I’m eager to be part of a larger team.”

Annual REMAX Center Easter Egg Hunt Draws Thousands RE/MAX Center, Grayslake, held its 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 19 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake. Children, ages 1-9, received free admission. Along with 10,000 eggs and 300 prizes for thousands of children, there was time for photos with the Easter Bunny and his friends both before and after the hunt. Families were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the township food pantry, making this food drive one of the largest in Illinois. Although a RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon tether was planned during the Easter egg hunt, winds were too strong and a basket and equipment display took its place along with a tethered 35-foot RE/MAX cold air balloon, the latter, which was displayed at the main entrance.
