Strike a match. Sparking the right combination of patterns and colours doesn’t always come easy to everyone or every outfit.
MONOCHROME, NOT MUNDANE
The colour science: By combining colours (and their shades and tints) that are adjacent to each other on the colour wheel, you achieve a monochromatic look with minimal contrast. This is know as an ‘associated’ colour scheme.
COMPLEM
Base: A blue and white micro-checked suit sparks plenty of interest in its own right, providing less need for bells and whistles. Accents: The solid and simple blue silk tie both draws the eye and accentuates the blue in the suit. Bring it together: The pale blue shirt brings together the blue from both the tie and suit, without any additional contrast that a white shirt would introduce.

The colour science: By combining 2 colours that are directly opposite one another on the colour wheel you are creating a high level of contrast. We suggest you utilise the dark shades and light tints of a colour for this ‘complementary’ colour scheme, or save it for the accents.
MIX IT UP
MENTARY
Base: A large scaled blue check suit creates a bold and interesting base paired with a pale blue shirt. Accents: The chocolate tie introduces a contrasting colour to the outfit in a solid and definite manner.
The colour science: Combining colours at equal spacing around the colour wheel creates a level of balance that is perfect for outfits with multiple components. This colour scheme would work equally well starting with a neutral suit or jacket and using this ‘triad’ colour scheme for other components.
Bring it together: The multi-coloured small scale patterned pocket square brings together the shades of blue in the suit, the tint of blue of the shirt and the brown buttons. Brown shoes would complete the outfit perfectly.
Base: The large scale of the jacket’s check contrasts the shirt’s small scale check while creating a single colour base to build upon. Accents: The blue silk tie introduces interest by way of a new pattern, texture and colour, as does the blue, red and yellow paisley pocket square. Bring it together: By combining contrasting textures (from silk, linen and cotton), patterns and scales, then grounding them with the brown base, you create unity.
