1.LEARN WHO BTS ARE To Become a BTS stan, first, you need to know who BTS are. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan or Beyond The Scene. BTS is a seven memeber boy band formed in Seoul, South Korea in 2010 under the management of BigHit Entertainment. They debuted as a hip hop group in June 13, 2013. But, their music genre has evolved constantly over the years. There are four vocalists and three rappers in BTS. Kim Seokjin, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook are the vocalists while Kim Namjoon aka RM, Jung Hoseok aka J-Hope, and Min Yoongi aka Suga are the rappers. BTS write most of their songs by themselves and they even produce songs. Their performanace are highly energetic with synchronized choreography and mostly live vocals. During their debut years, they were poorly treated by the Korean Music industry because they didn’t follow the mainstream K-pop and spoke against problems within the government and society. They also came from a company that was almost bankrupted. Now, BTS are the only K-Pop group to perform on major U.S. Award Shows, first K-Pop group to have No.1 Album on Billboard 200, first K-Pop Act to hit No.1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, and many more. They are the first Korean group to be awarded with BillBoard Music Awards and the first group dince The Beatles to have 3 Billboard No.1’s within a year. Their latest album “Map Of the soul:7” became the bestselling and fastest selling album of 2020 in pure sales, which means without counting streams and downloads, with over 3 million copies sold globally in just 3 days. BTS also hold the resord of most-viewed Youtube Video in 24 hours with 74.6 million views with their “Boy In Luv” music video.

2.WATCH MUSIC VIDEOS Once you are familiar with who BTS are, you need to watch their music videos to understand their choreography, performance, and music. They have different kinds of music videos. In their music videos, BTS have mixture of choreography, vocals, cinematography,etc. They are captivating and highly energetic. Every music video has a story behind it. So, you have to watch carefully to understand the meanings behind certain performances. If you want to feel welcomed to the BTS fandom, watch music video of “Dope” where it starts with Namjoon literally welcoming the first timers. Music Videos you should watch:Blood, Sweat & Tears, Save Me, Spring Day, ON Kinetic Manifesto, Boy in Luv, Black Swan, DNA, Run, I Need U, NO, etc.

3.LISTEN TO THEIR ALBUMS BTS has released 7 studio albums, 3 single albums, 11 compilation albums, and 1 soundtrack album. With so many albums to listen to, it doesn’t matter which album you listen to first. If you want to experience and know the growth of BTS over the years, start from their first album. As you go further towards newer albums, you realize how much they have grown from young boys fighting to pursue their dream to young men who have achieved their dream and want others to know too that dreams can be achieved.

4.know the bts fandom The name for BTS fandom is “ARMY”. ARMY stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth. Since BTS stands for Bulletproof Boy Scouts and Army is associated with military, the fandom name means that they will always be together. When you become a BTS fan, you will be an Army. As an Army you will have Bias and Biaswreckers. Bias is the member of BTS who you like the most or who caught your attention and biaswrecker is the person who you like after your bias. BTS has a lightstick made for Army to support them which is called an Army Bomb. It looks like a Bomb and works with Bluetooth and lights in different colors.

5.watch bts reality shows BTS have their own reality shows made specially for their fans. They don’t really participate in TV reality shows and have made reality shows that includes only BTS. There are shows like Bangtan Gayo, Run BTS, and BTS Bon Voyage. These shows gives an inside view on how BTS members are and their friendship, teamwork, talents, etc. All of their shows are uploaded online and free to watch except Bon Voyage for which you need to pay. They also upload behind the scenes and discographies of their performances in their YouTube Channel. These shows and videos help you understand BTS as person.

6.watch bts Movies BTS have released their behind the scenes movies and documentaries that show their life during World Tour and concerts. Their “Bring The Soul: The Movie” broke event cinema records by selling a record 2.55 million tickets across 112 territories worldwide. They have also released “Burn The Stage” documentary series with YouTube Originals that captures their hardships backstage during the “WINGS WORLD TOUR”. The movies and documentaries makes you realize how much BTS endures to give the best performance to their fans. They will be struggling to breath and sick but, they feel sad if they can’t perform and sometimes they perform even with all the pain.

7.Get twitter,vlive & weverse BTS use twitter, Vlive, and Weverse to connect with their fans and share contents. So, if you want to stay up to date with BTS and contents related to them, it’s a must to have twitter, Vlive, and Weverse account. In twitter, they mostly share their selfies, official announcements, et. In Vlive, they share the reality shows like Run BTS, BTS Bon Voyage,etc. and come live to talk with fans. 8.VOTE BTS ON AWARD SHOWS BTS get nominated in lots of award shows nationally and internationally. As a BTS fan, you should vote for them in their nominated catagory to make them win. BTS Army are known to be fierce voters because whenever BTS wins, they have a huge gap with other artists. It is not an obligation to vote for BTS and will not make you any less of a supporter but, as a fan you will surely vote for them even if it’s just for few award shows a year.

9.LISTEN TO THEIR SPEECHES While recieving awards or giving interviews, BTS give speeches or say something for their fans. They always thank Army for their achievements and even during their performances, they have special thanks credit for Army at the end. The most important speech that should be listened and watched by everyone is Namjoon’s UN speech during UN General Assembly in Sept 24th, 2018.The speech is even included as part of Social Studies lesson in some countries.

10.GET INspired After you follow BTS, their journey from the beginning through their music, hardships, friendship, and their love for fans, it’s impossible that you won’t get inspired. Their hard work, music, speeches, advices,personality, team work, and friendship make you think about your dreams. You will wonder if you are on the right path and that you are doing what makes you ahppy as well as the world around you. Get inspired by BTS, learn a skill you always wanted to, change your major if you are not sure of it, share your thoughts and ideas to people who will listen to you, and inspire others too.

11.BUY ALBUM AND MERCHANDISE If you can afford and want to collect BTS albums and merchandise, buy them as you like. If you want to buy albums, it’s always better to pre-order them before release as they will have free poster and cheaper than when they are released. You don’t have to buy official merchandise. There are lots of fan stores that sell fan made merchandise related to BTS which are cute and affordable.

12. WATCh fancams BTS go on World Tour every year and their performances are full of energy and captivating. All of their shows are packed and tickets are sold within minutes after they are placed on sale. Many international fans can’t attend the concerts and some can’t afford the tickets. Fancams are videos of concerts recorded by fellow fans that went to the concerts. Sometimes they even do a live recording for fns at home. So, if you can’t sfford or attend the concert, you should watch fancams which is a fun experience and you get to know fellow fans too.

13.SUPPort bts no matter what BTS have become global superstars and popularity comes with other negative sides. They get lots of hate and criticism from people. Since they are non-english speaking artists who sing only in Korean and 6 out of 7 members are not fluent in English, they also get lots of xenophopic and racist comments even from the music industry itself. As an Army, you should always support BTS no matter what. You should defend them when there are hate comments, you should cheer them up when they are stressed and sad, and keep on proving haters that they are wrong by supporting BTS to reach the top of music charts.

14.spread kindness BTS have always been advocates for treating everyone with kindness and not letting negativity get into their heads. Even during their struggles and when they were treated unfairly , BTS never fought with anyone and have always proved themselves throught their music, donating for good causes anonymously, and partnering with UNICEF for End Violence campaign through their Love Yourself album series. As a BTS Army, you should always spread love and kindness and also not forget to love yourself because love comes from within you. You should participate in social works, raise voice against injustice, and treat people with kindness.
