This NGO was born out of collective concerns of other NGOs and civil society groups such as the dangers of extreme mining in the Philippines. The term “tigil-mina” means stop mining. They do not totally stand against mining, but against the harmful effects continuous mining does to the environment and the people who live around those mining areas. Their goal is to bring awareness to the current mining situation and to reach out to others to support their anti-mining advocacy. Job description

•  Monitor News (online, print) •  Help prepare materials for discussion and specific activities •  Take lead in organizing forums and photos exhibits in different schools •  Take part in immersion with indigenous communities

Job description

•  Conduct simple research about volunteer activities to promote the use of the Knowledge Channel as a means for public school students to receive education •  Prepare concept paper about volunteer activities, that can later be applied •  Visit partnered public school of the organization •  Help in the production of the shows showed in Knowledge Channel.

This TN is looking for EPs who h ave b ackground with Hydrology, Waste & Water Management, and Soil Mechanics.

Job description •  Assists in the conduct of technical services such as the Environmental Investigation Mission (EIM), research papers and teaching modules •  Provides technical support in the review/development of science modules for the People’s Science School •  Assists in the implementation of AGHAM’s programs: People’s Science School and Science for the People’s Colloquium •  Develop research materials for specific issues pertaining to public utilities like water, power, telecommunication, transportation •  Come up with policy reviews and recommendations pertaining to science and technology •  Draft, edit, finalize position papers on various issues in science and technology

With the Philippines being the 3rd country that is most prone to natural disasters, partnered with The Philippine Red Cross Manila Chapter, this PBOX aims to minimize damage caused by natural disasters through improving the branding of Red Cross, carrying out disaster preparedness training for communities in the Philippines and performing field research. Job description •  A volunteer for the Philippine Red Cross Manila Chapter •  Receive training from Red Cross to become a legitimized facilitator during community trainings •  Facilitate community trainings carried out by Red Cross •  Bring in good case practices on natural disaster preparedness for the Filipino communities •  Carry out on-site researches during community deployments •  Endorser/Ambassador of the project


Environment education

With the problem of water scarcity in the Philippines, partnered with AIESEC DLSU’s very own GCDP TN – AGHAM, is this PBOX – The H20 Project. This PBOX aims to educate the Filipinos on the importance and ways of conserving water, as well as innovating with education on science and technology on water conservation and recycling methods. TN IDs TN IDs will be available in the 2nd week of December.

Job description •  Assist in the development of AGHAM’s curriculum on water •  Execute the curriculum as a teacher/facilitator in AGHAM’s People Science Schools and partnered communities •  Assist in organizing and execute the PBOX’s culminating event •  Assist in the expansion of People’s Science School established by AGHAM
