About Us Since 1984, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana has been committed to creating and facilitating a business climate within the Hispanic community to promote economic development and progression in Louisiana. Included within its focus is a dedication to the expansion of trade relations between the State of Louisiana and Latin America. The HCCL is a non-profit organization created as the result of a merger in 1999 of two chambers: The Louisiana Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (incorporated in 1984) and The Gulf Coast International Chamber of Commerce (incorporated in 1990). Just as HCCL works to build capacity in the Hispanic business community, so too does it work with traditional American businesses to help them approach this fastest growing minority population in the United States. We connect communities! HCCL Members gain access to a broad network of businesses, non-profits and government entities as well as a selection of seminars, training courses and networking events dedicated to making your business grow.

Letter from the Board Chairwoman Dear members, At the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana (HCCL), we facilitate opportunities for Hispanic professionals and Hispanic-owned businesses, large and small. In partnership with the HCCL Foundation (HCCLF), our Young Professionals committee (HCYP), and thanks to your generous support, we provide labor and workforce training programs, facilitate public and private partnerships, and develop funding and educational prospects for Louisiana’s Hispanic business community. The Chamber also provides a networking platform for Hispanic professionals and businesses to interact with each other and the Louisiana business community, at large. It is an honor to serve you and our Hispanic community, at large, as Chair of the HCCL’s Board of Directors. When I last wrote to you, I said my goal as Chair was to “add practical value to our members’ business pursuits”. Now, midway through my second year, I am proud to share the progress we have made towards that goal in this – our second edition – of the HCCL Directory. For starters, we have revamped our Directory with an industry-related categorization in order to better facilitate diversity sourcing from within our membership. We have also added additional substantive content detailing the many workshops, programs, certifications, and other opportunities, which HCCL, HCCLF, and HCYP provide throughout the year. I encourage each of you to take advantage of these additions and use the Directory as a tool to advance yourselves and all Hispanic-owned businesses in our community! Over the past year, the Chamber also offered a much broader spectrum of small business workshops designed to assist entrepreneurs build, grow, and manage their businesses. These programs included presentations on developing your business plan, creating your website, managing your message, leveraging your network, and cyber and data breach security. We also hosted courses designed to create business opportunities for our membership including the Louisiana Economic Development’s (LED) Small and Emerging Business Development Program (SEBD) certification event and the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) System Award Management (SAM) series and registration. The HCCL Foundation diversified its career counseling, web-based employment training, and job placement programming. Our young professionals created the Lunch & Learn Ejecutivo to give our millennial members an opportunity to ask questions of, and learn from, successful Hispanic entrepreneurs. Going forward, we will continue to streamline our programming to better serve your business needs. And your feedback will continue to shape our efforts. I urge you to contact me, our President, Mayra Pineda, and our Board of Directors to make your concerns, feedback, and interests known. Join a Committee, participate in as many events as you can, establish relationships, visit the Chamber, and ultimately you will grow your business. We welcome your contributions with open arms! In closing, I’d like to thank HCCL President, Mayra Pineda, for her tireless representation of the Chamber and our community. I also thank my fellow Officers and Directors, our strategic partners in the region, and the HCCL Foundation and HCYP, for their trust, dedication, and leadership. Finally, I thank each of you: members, volunteers, and sponsors, for your commitment to the Chamber and its programming – none of which could be accomplished without your support. Together, we will continue shaping the future of our community.

T
he Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana (HCCL) is built upon a commitment to fostering connectivity, business, and opportunity within Louisiana’s Hispanic community, which has long contributed to the diverse and lively melting pot culture in our state. In this year’s directory, we recognize three HCCL members who have achieved success and distinction through their entrepreneurial endeavors –– not only as entrepreneurs, but as women in the world of business. These women are jewelry designer Cristy Cali, founder of Synergy Design Group Luz Lobos, and the internationally-renowned metalware designer Beatriz Ball. Each woman shares details of her own journey, emphasizing how heritage, community, and organizations like the Chamber have helped them along the way. While the path to success isn’t always easy, these inspiring women prove that dedication and perseverance can lead anyone to success, no matter who they are or where they come from.

Cristy Cali Jewelry
C
risty Cali makes no secret of her New Orleans influence when designing her jewelry. Fleur de Lis, pelicans, voodoo dolls, and magnolias –– they are all tastefully cast in sparkling sterling and infused with a certain class and spirit distinct to Cali’s style. Since she started her business in 2012, Cali has grown a worldwide customer base, which notably includes both Senator Mary Landrieu and members of Aerosmith. Today, her line can be found in dozens of stores across Louisiana and beyond –– including one of New Orleans’ most iconic jewelry institutions, Adler’s. Cali has the entrepreneurial spirit running through her veins. As a young child, she watched as her parents achieved success after immigrating from Guatemala to New Orleans in the 1980s. In only a few years, what started as a collection of jewelry and handcrafted Guatemalan goods on a table in the French Market turned into two brick-and-mortar stores called Sterling Silvia, which are still in business today. It was always understood that Cali would someday take over the family business –– which, for a long time, was perfectly fine with her. “I’d travel with my parents to visit manufacturers and hang out with the makers and learn how things were made,” she said. After Hurricane Katrina, Cali, who was fifteen at the time, took on a more involved role at the Sterling Silvia stores, working there most weekends in high school and college. She discovered that she had a natural talent at designing and making jewelry, and she knew that such passion could lead her to a successful future in the industry. After completing an internship in Thailand, Cali came home with her first jewelry line and quickly sold her products through her parents’ store. In the coming years, her enthusiasm for business development grew, particularly when it came to implementing new and evolving trends like social media marketing. She simultaneously worked on earning her business degree and developing her designs –– and she soon realized that the vision she had for her business no longer fit under the umbrella of Sterling Silvia. Taking a risk on herself and her vision, Cali decided to leave her family’s business and to pave her own way forward. “My family experienced a classic clash of generations,” Cali said. “In a Latinx family, and as an only child, me leaving the family business did not go over well. It was one of the most difficult times in my life.” However, Cali said she doesn’t regret her decision, as it eventually allowed her the space necessary to develop and thrive as an individual entrepreneur. “I walked away from the only thing I knew for my whole life, but I did it because I needed to be able to grow without answering to anyone, to learn from my mistakes, and to be excited and curious about seeking new solutions,” she said. Today, Cali’s parents understand why she made the decision to leave, and they celebrate her successes with her. In the end, she said, all of this has been part of the process of figuring out who she is and who she wants to be. “I think entrepreneurship is very similar to life,” she said. “Businesses require human spirit to energize the entity, and to have that spirit, you have to know who you are and what you want to represent. At the end of the day, I am a New Orleans designer raised in a Latin family, and I care a lot about freedom –– freedom of expression and in finding ways to accept and love yourself for who you are.” Photo by Jose Garcia

Beatriz Ball Collection
B
eatriz Ball was recently sitting with a group of old friends from her days at Sacred Heart High School in Mexico City. She looked around the table, mentally noting their successes: all of them business owners, one with the best art gallery in Latin America, another the owner of ten stores, and another rising as a prominent figure in politics. Ball herself is no exception: her line of luxury metalware is sold in hundreds of stores internationally and has been featured in countless national publications (including Oprah’s Favorite Things List of 2017). And Ball thought to herself: “None of us went to college!” The great-granddaughter of former Cuban President Mario Garcia Meocal, Ball was twelve when her family was forced to flee the country under Fidel Castro’s regime. When they arrived in Mexico City, her father had only 16 dollars in his pocket. Over the next several years, the family established themselves in Mexico City, where the radically-increasing prices for silver were hurting local markets. At that time, a friend of Ball’s father had discovered a metal alloy that served as a suitable substitute for silver. Made up of 97 percent aluminum and 11 additional elements, the alloy could be cut like silver, possessed a shine like silver, and could be put into an oven. “I always say I was there when the alternative metal industry was established,” said Ball, who would often assist and visit with the artisans training to use the new material. When she eventually moved to New Orleans with her husband, she brought suitcases of products from Mexico City to share with friends who were impressed with the alloy’s beauty and affordability. One day, she decided to try selling them at a home show. “By 9 a.m., it was all gone.” After a few years of selling the artisan products at shows and markets, Ball and her sister decided to take the next step. They built a factory, and following the resounding success of that location, built another in 2013, employing hundreds of artisans in Mexico. Part of the success of the Beatriz Ball Collection stems from Ball’s personal commitment to excellence, a standard that she has sometimes found challenging to impose on others –– though always, in the end, rewarding. “I come from a family of very strong women,” she said. “Our women were all very powerful, and they surely passed it on to me.” In working with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Ball said she has found incredible support from members within the Latinx community, particularly from those seeking to give back to their community by purchasing goods and products made in Mexico. “We are always very loyal to our own,” said Ball. “We are good at what we do, and so many of our employees have been with us the whole time. For over 20 years, they have shared the journey, and we’ve all grown up together.”

Synergy Design Group
I
n a world where advertising and marketing strategies are radically changing –– and where people tend to prefer interaction through screens than face to face –– “Exhibitionist Extraordinaire” Luz Lobos is pushing businesses to adapt and own their brands in new ways. “Fortune favors the bold,” Lobos said. “It’s important to stand out, but it’s also important to be happy doing it. You have to be proud of your brand and proud to share it with people.” Lobos founded her business, Synergy Design Group, after working as an account executive at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for three years, where she learned about trade shows for the first time. “They never talk about trade shows when you’re learning about marketing,” she said. “You learn interiors, graphics and landscape. A lot of money is spent in advertising and creating beautiful logos, but when it comes to face-to-face selling, there is no cohesive method of implementation.” When she left the hospital to start Synergy in 2000, her goal was to fill that gap, and Our Lady of the Lake became her first customer. Almost 20 years later, the company has grown to serve businesses from right down the street in New Orleans to as far as Spain, England and France. With her exhibit design business, Lobos helps companies elevate their brands by building an inviting, informative environment that stimulates in-person sales and partnerships. Lobos, who was born and raised in El Salvador, said that her Hispanic background has been a great asset as a business owner in New Orleans, as it allows her a unique perspective that she can contribute to the market and her clients. “I embrace my culture proudly,” she said. “It has only contributed to my personal strength and ambition and has benefitted our company as we’ve grown into international markets.” Lobos has also created connections with other Hispanic business owners in the New Orleans community through organizations like the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which she said has helped her both learn from and teach other business leaders. “It’s been so rewarding to be able to collaborate and assist other members of the Chamber,” she said. “It’s really amazing to see how it has grown over the years, and all that it’s been able to accomplish and to help the community.” As a business owner so uniquely poised to help other new or aspiring business owners, Lobos said that she’s found incredible rewards in using her experience and journey to help others. Although she spent several years on an entirely different career path, she never overlooked any opportunity that presented itself to her –– and that open-minded outlook led her to successfully innovating the marketing industry. “I share my story and my experiences, and I tell people that it is okay when things don’t work out. You’ve just got to shift. The key is: Don’t look back. Taking a step back is not an option. Figure out how to move around whatever is in the way, left, right –– do whatever it takes to move forward. “Ultimately, the reason I do this is to help companies –– in our community and beyond –– to grow,” Lobos said. “One of the most rewarding parts is to see our customers win.” Photo by Jose Garcia

t may be a surprise to learn that one in three Louisianans lack a home internet connection. As we increasingly need computers for everything from paying bills to doing homework, those who haven’t learned the ins-and-outs of basic technology risk losing out on key educational and professional opportunities. This is called the digital divide. And if you don’t speak English — like many in Louisiana’s Hispanic community — the barrier to entry is even higher. To help bridge this gap, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana has collaborated with Cox Communications to 12

launch a number of digital literacy training centers across the state. The first opened in the New Orleans metro area this past February, followed by another in Baton Rouge in March, with a third in Lafayette coming soon. Cox has donated 10 Chromebooks to each location, featuring content and resources from Common Sense Media, EVERGI and the Public Library Association. Each Digital Academy offers a variety of classes for children and adults alike — all completely free. And unlike the more advanced technology courses at local community colleges, these programs are simple
enough that someone with no computer experience can jump right in. The Digital Academies project was born out of the long-standing partnership between Cox and the HCCL. It was about a year ago when Cox noticed how the digital divide, as well as the language barrier, was blocking the Hispanic community from attaining its full employment potential. Having already pioneered a program called Connect2Compete, which offers discounted home internet service to lower-income families, Cox wanted to use its expertise to serve Louisiana’s Hispanic families.
directorio 2019
“Cox is fully committed to the Hispanic community and to giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential,” said Cox Account Executive Raiza Pitre. “So, our public relations team reached out to the Chamber and asked, ‘How can we help?’” “This is very important,” said HCCL President Mayra Pineda, “because once people have those basic skills, it will open doors for them in other areas.” Adult participants can develop basic internet competency and learn about cyber-bullying, cyber safety, parental controls and how to take advantage of technology for raising bilingual children. At the same time, children can take courses to help keep up their math knowledge over summer vacation, when such skills often take a hit. The Digital Academies are the first of their kind, both by offering Spanish-language digital literacy classes and providing access to a free computer lab – meaning that Hispanic households without computers or internet at home can utilize tools that will allow them to reach new opportunities in school and work. “We’ve had families tell us what a difference it makes,” said Cox Public Affairs Director Sharon Truxillo. Julia Scarnato works at the Hispanic
Apostolate of the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge, which hosts the city’s Digital Academy, and said that she was immediately interested in partnering with the Chamber and Cox after observing the lack of resources available to the Spanish-speaking community. The training center is part of the Apostolate’s larger project to create a library for the city’s Hispanic community. “You don’t see Hispanic folks going to the library, because everyone there only speaks English,” Scarnato said. In addition, she said that Chromebooks and learning tools have been a welcome and necessary supplement to the education of Hispanic youth. “Children are coming because they don’t have internet at home — their parents can’t afford it. So, if they have homework that needs Internet, they do it here.” “We are very appreciative of Cox’s support and leadership in this effort to bridge the gap,” said Pineda, praising the effective collaboration between Cox and the HCCL. “We both bring something to the table.” Cox has donated its software and hardware, while the HCCL has connected the company with local community centers and promoted the program among its network. Cox is equally pleased with how the project has turned out.
“The Chamber members we’ve worked with have been excellent partners,” said Truxillo. “We’ve shared a lot of excitement and enthusiasm.” Although the Academies were just recently launched, the community’s interest in them has been clear. Around 50 people attended the opening of the Academy in Baton Rouge, while nearly 100 came to the ceremony in New Orleans. Pitre recalled one local businessman who came to the launch looking for online training — and he didn’t even have an email address. Both Pitre and Pineda said that those are the kinds of obstacles they hope to clear for the community in order to make sure that opportunities are available to people of all backgrounds. “Projects like this hit a very critical spot,” stressed Pineda. “If we don’t lift the community to where everyone can access these opportunities, then we’re leaving people behind.” Moving forward, both Cox and the HCCL are looking forward to growing the Hispanic workforce even further. “From talking with the community, we know that businesses want to hire bilingual employees,” said Pitre. “The Hispanic Chamber is a great conduit to make that happen, and I think we’ll be seeing more of that in the future.” •

TRAINING SMALL BUSINESSES TO SUCCEED By William Kalec
The Hispanic Chamber stays true to its overall mission by establishing and strengthening vital relationships with several initiatives — both government-run and private — aimed to assist small businesses.
I
n its two decades as a singular entity, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana (HCCL) has strived to serve the various, yet particular, needs of the business community and spark economic development amongst this rapidly-growing segment of the state’s population. One of the many effective methods in doing that has been the HCCL’s commitment to providing local Hispanic Small Businesses every tool available in sustaining long-term success and growth. For example, when Goldman Sachs announced its ‘10,000 Small Businesses’ program nearly a decade ago, HCCL officials made sure to connect local Hispanic business owners with the initiative so that they could take full advantage of the free, advanced curriculum which continues to take place at Delgado Community College. 14
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana 2019
In February 2019, the HCCL and the Louisiana Small Business Development Center of Greater New Orleans and the Bayou Region — developed in the early 1980s by the U.S. Small Business Administration and Louisiana Economic Development – announced a formal collaboration to enhance its outreach among the Hispanic population, particularly in Jefferson Parish. Perhaps the most noticeable and beneficial facet of the partnership calls for the Louisiana Small Business Development Center to have a satellite office staffed with bilingual consultants within the Hispanic Foundation Workforce Training Center in Kenner. “It’s a win-win for both organizations,” said Mayra Pineda, President and CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana. “The collaboration immediately doubled our staff, and by having the SBDC
in-house at our Center, it’s enabled them to serve the Hispanic community in ways they never could before. It gives those who run small businesses, or are planning to run a small business, the one-on-one consulting services that are such a benefit — in addition to the seminars and instructions we’ve already been doing year-round. “And you see the effect of the collaboration already,” Pineda continued. “Our Center in Kenner has quickly grown into a staple in the community — the go-to place for personal services, direction and resources for small business owners, which is critical.” Available to both start-up and existing small businesses in Louisiana, the Small Business Development Center network provides hands-on management, technical assistance, training and market research for free to clients across all of Louisiana’s 64
directorio 2019
parishes. From the Fall of 2017 to the Fall of 2018, Louisiana Small Business Development Centers helped start 141 businesses and created close to 900 new jobs in the state. Considering nearly 15 percent of Jefferson Parish residents are Hispanic (as of the last U.S. Census), having a SBDC presence in Kenner has already helped the HCCL’s outreach in a community that might not have been fully aware of the boost the network provides to small business owners. “I think one of the things that the (Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) has done, since Mayra has come aboard as president, is form strategic alliances, and this is another great example,” said Jo Ann Lawrence, Deputy District Director for the Small Business Administration. “By joining up and partnering, this ensures the Hispanic community is aware and can take full advantage of everything these SBDCs offer to entrepreneurs.” As part of the SBDC/HCCL collaboration, officials have already begun designing business-specific consulting strategies — plans for restaurant owners, for example — and are forming workshops and seminars to help Hispanic busi-
ness owners in numerous sectors of creating and maintaining a business, such as tutorials on how to apply for loans and which approaches work best for business development plans. “What we’re cast to do is provide economic impact, said Carmen Sunda, Director of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center of Greater New Orleans and the Bayou Region. “And it has to be measurable economic impact. Our challenge is to serve a large geographic area, so to have a full-time presence in that training center in Kenner — where there’s such a large surrounding population — is perfect for us and perfect for the Chamber because they have a consultant on site and an Hispanic consultant on contract for those who are more comfortable talking and working with someone in their own language.” The HCCL has a long, proven track record when it comes to introducing those they serve to programs that support their small-business needs. With Goldman Sachs, the HCCL encouraged the ‘10,000 Small Businesses’ officials to promote the initiative to Hispanic small business owners in Louisiana. Those that
were chosen and enrolled received at least 80 hours of business education at Delgado Community College, and 6 to 8 hours per week of business support services and expert advice to help increase revenue and create new job positions in the business. One of the pleasant consequences of the Goldman Sachs program is that Hispanic small business owners also got to network and build relationships with their contemporaries. “We can have so many business opportunities in the area, but if our people and those running the businesses don’t know about it, then it does us no good,” Pineda said. “So The Hispanic Chamber has been a partner in this program and has been able to refer some amazing business owners — landscapers, insurance agents, marketing companies, even communications specialists — every year. “It’s a big commitment, but the business owners who have gone through it have seen the immediate impact it makes on their businesses.” •

HCCL Foundation: Achievement Through Education By Alexander Jusdanis
T
he Hispanic population of New Orleans area is booming, nearly doubling in size since 2000, and with that growth comes an increased presence of Hispanic-owned workers and businesses in the area. While this growth is exciting, many members of this expanding community still encounter roadblocks on the way to employment — some lack the English skills and resources necessary to find jobs, while others may need additional training to progress in their careers. To pave the way for professional success in the Hispanic community, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana Foundation (HCCLF) has rolled out several educational and business development initiatives, including English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, career counseling, resume and cover letter writing assistance, and interview preparation courses. These are all free of charge and open to the public, and many are bilingual. The Foundation also maintains a wide network of local businesses as part of its membership, so that when employers are looking to hire, they have access to a preexisting database of workers with the right skillsets for their companies. One such program comes from the Chamber’s longstanding partnership with Delgado Community College, where Hispanic students are the fastest growing population on campus. Recently, Delgado recognized a problem: While the fishing industry has long been a core economic stimulant in the region, the school saw that
workers tend to age out early, at around 50 to 55 years old. This left many able and qualified workers without a logical next step, even when they were still able to serve as drivers of further growth and development. Delgado turned to the HCCL Foundation for advice. After assessing the current needs of local industry, the Foundation helped Delgado develop welding and safety courses taught in Spanish, allowing older workers in the fishing industry — and anyone else that was interested in starting a new career — to acquire an in-demand skill and remain competitive in the job market. “The response has been strong,” said Delgado Chancellor William Wainwright. “When you work with the Chamber and have their support and advocacy, you have a deeper penetration in the market, and we’ve seen the results of that firsthand.” Delgado and HCCLF plan to double down on the success of the welding classes by creating a dedicated Hispanic training academy for construction and electrical skills, with further courses in hospitality and commercial drilling in the works. By helping workers acquire these new skills, Delgado and HCCLF hope to lengthen the career trajectories of current industry professionals while paving the way to success for new and incoming workers. Dr. Wainwright stressed the importance of HCCL President Mayra Pineda’s diligence and knowledge of local businesses; without the partnership with the Chamber, he said
that identifying these needs and finding solutions would have been much more difficult. “We’re very proud of the partnership with Mayra and her eagerness and willingness to do more.” Dr. Wainwright said. “We depend heavily on her counsel, because we must ensure that what we deliver is relevant to the needs of industry. We know that our students are receiving holistic support, and when they leave, they’re engaged in high-wage, high-demand occupations.” The success of the Delgado partnership is just a sample of the Foundation’s achievements — the Chamber also hosts a variety of other programs that serve to connect workers with new opportunities and continued education, like job fairs and financial literacy seminars. “Our momentum is increasing, and it’s becoming an energetic driving force,” said Blanca Robinson, HCCLF Chairperson. “We can only more forward.” In that regard, Blanca said the Foundation is looking to expand its reach beyond the New Orleans metro area in order to serve and assist more communities in the state, and they will be looking to create more partnerships along the way. Dr. Wainwright agreed that such educational initiatives, like the ones offered by the Chamber and its Foundation, are among the best ways to empower workers and to give them the tools they need for lasting success. “You can’t be a life-long earner if you’re not a life-long learner.” •

T
he Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana Young Professionals (HCYP) is the next generation of business and professional leaders in the Hispanic community. The driving force behind this initiative is a diverse group of individuals working to provide a platform to young professionals that’s congruent with the overall HCCL mission and the Board of Directors’ vision. This vibrant group of emerging leaders introduces new leadership to the organization by promoting new ideas, initiatives and engaging opportunities to volunteer, network and learn. Through this platform, HCYP members are given an opportunity to participate and collaborate on issues that impact not only their careers, but the community as a whole. This year’s committee has been working
hard on fulfilling their mission and has hosted various events geared towards their goal. Such initiatives include the Annual Lunch & Learn: Ejecutivo Series, where young professionals enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by a renowned local Hispanic chef. Attendees also heard from a panel of influential Hispanic chefs who shared insight on their paths to success and the challenges they had to overcome along the way. Another engaging opportunity was the Annual Women’s Business Symposium. The Leadership & Professional Growth panel, composed of successful and powerful young professional female leaders, provided a plethora of professional growth opportunities and shared on key areas of their success as Young Professionals.
Community Service is at the core of the HCYP’s mission. Mentoring opportunities like the “West Jefferson High School Career Day” and “Junior Achievement Day” are examples of the service opportunities members have been able to participate in, allowing them to promote a positive impact in their community by inspiring school-aged children to become successful and responsible individuals. Future collaborations with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, and Liberty’s Kitchen will provide additional opportunities to give back to the community. Becoming a member of HCYP is easy: simply join their mailing list and attend their next event. You can find additional information and upcoming events via social media channels @HCYP, www.hccl.biz or email them at hypla@hccl.biz • www.hccl.biz

“ Mi

“ The
Hispanic Chamber has been instrumental in the development of my business. While at a crucial stage of finding the right direction, HCCL introduced me to several key resources that provided me with the information and vision to craft the business that I have now. From enrolling in the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses, to taking part in networking opportunities to taking advantage of multiple seminars, HCCL works hard at making these resources available to us. It is up to us to make the best of them!”

“The New Orleans Ernest N.
Morial Convention Center is always looking to partner with local vendors who provide goods and services for our day-to-day business operations. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been a valuable resource for introducing us to small businesses in the Community and making connections through their marketing and networking. In 2018, the Convention Center advertised for a janitorial vendor. Thanks to the Chamber’s outreach to the community, a local HCC member, Delta Personnel, was able to become a subcontractor for the winning bidder. Through our new Small and Emerging Business (SEB) program, we look forward to extending opportunities for the members of the HCC and forming solid partnerships with goods and services providers in our community.”
“ The Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana is a vibrant and welcoming organization under the leadership of Mayra Pineda. I have been enriched by the stellar programming in the Annual Women’s Business Symposium and quality networking opportunities it has provided. A direct result of my participation in the Show was the introduction to a new client! The prolific quality programming from HCCL is a true asset to the community.”
