PZL TS-11 ISKRA is the first Polish training airplane with jet propulsion. It is a mid-wing monoplane of metal body, with three-wheel retractable landing gear, pressure cabin and ejection seats.
ISKRA was designed by Tadeusz Sołtyk – hence the TS letters. The airplane was used to train the Polish air forces. A total of 450 such airplanes were produced, and they are still being used.
In 1959, the ISKRA has undergone its first static tests. The first prototype of the training plane was test-flown on 5 February 1960, under command of test pilot, engineer Andrzej Abłamowicz. The airplane was first officially shown in flight on 11 September 19060, during shows held on the Aviation Day in Lodz. The ISKRA enjoyed very good opinions.
