By the time you read this, Abattoir in the Westside Provision District will have closed its doors after a seven-year run. “We have loved our seven-year run with our great team at Abattoir. We have been proud to present great food, a fabulous atmosphere and the talents of several notable chefs” said owner/operator Anne Quatrano. “It’s time we let another concept take over this awesome space as we work on the opening of our Fish Camp at Ponce City Market this Spring.” Many staff have already been slated for future roles in the upcoming W. H. Stiles Fish Camp, opening in Ponce City Market this spring and the opening of “a little restaurant downstairs at Bacchanalia” soon.

New Japanese restaurant Doraku Sushi is open at Buckhead Atlanta offering a “refined twist” on traditional Japanese fare, drawing inspiration from Asian and Latin flavor profiles. For more visit, buckhead-atl.com.

SweetWater Brewery and United Distributors recently presented a check for $55,547 to The Giving Kitchen. The brewery’s partnership with The Giving Kitchen dates back to 2013 when the two organizations came together to brew Second Helping, a juniper IPA to raise funds for the organization. The Giving Kitchen is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting restaurant industry workers who have experienced some sort of unanticipated emergency or hardship. For more, visit thegivingkitchen.org.

Chef Ron Eyester (Rosebud, Timone’s) has opened Diner in Atlantic Station offering up a menu of classic American favorites with a twist, such as burgers, brisket, pork chops, salmon, ice cream, cakes and pies. Fifth Group Restaurants has announced plans to open new locations of South City Kitchen and La Tavola Trattoria. South City Kitchen will occupy 6,000 square feet on the first floor of the 3350 Peachtree building facing Peachtree Road. An opening date has not been set. The company is also looking to open a new 4,500 to 6,500-square-foot La Tavola Trattoria location in a yetto-be-decided “metro-Atlanta neighborhood.”

Sisters Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne have opened Georgetown Cupcake Buckhead at 267 East Paces Ferry Road. For more, visit georgetowncupcake. com.

Southern Roots Café is now open on the campus of the Georgia World Congress Center in Downtown. The café is offering house made pastries, breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, panini’s, coffee, beer and wine.

Shifting Chefs: Ecco in Midtown has named Joshua Perkins as its new executive chef. Prior to joining Ecco, Perkins served as chef-partner of Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar in his hometown of Memphis. Stuart Tracy, founder of Charleston’s Butcher & Bee, has been named executive chef of both The Brasserie and The Neighborhood Café at Parish in Inman Park. Concentrics Restaurants has hired Chef Wesley True to take Richard Blais’s place at The Spence. Blais now lives in San Diego where he operates Juniper & Ivy.
