CIM Group, the firm behind The Gulch development in Downtown, has secured the air rights for the 40-plus acre property for $13 million from Cousins Properties. Air rights will allow CIM Group to build vertically on the site, which will be transformed into a $5 billion development of office buildings, hotels, retail and homes.

The dilapidated Medical Arts Building in Downtown will become a 160-room boutique hotel with ground floor retail and restaurant space, according to a report from Atlanta Business Chronicle. The historic 1927 structure at Peachtree Street and Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard would also become a focal point for The Stitch project, an ambitious plan to cap the Downtown

Connector and create a new park, homes and office space.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium has announced it will become a fully cashless operation starting with the Atlanta United season opener on March 10. Only debit and credit cards or mobile payments (such as Apple Pay) will be accepted at concession and souvenir stands. For those without cards, kiosks will be available on each level of MBS where you can load cash onto a pre-paid VISA card. Unused balances on the cards can be spent outside the stadium anywhere cards are accepted. The move to cashless, designed to speed up wait times, is tied to MBS’s announcement that it will lower prices by 50 cents on its most popular food items including hot dogs, hamburgers, pretzel bites, waffle cones and chips & salsa.

Site work is underway at the 27acre Pullman Yard development in Kirkwood, and “major construction” is expected to launch in the coming weeks, according to a report at Curbed Atlanta. Atomic Entertainment plans to turn the former sugar and fertilizer processing plant — and later, train depot — into a “creative city” mixed-use campus. Once complete, the site will feature soundstages for film production, as well as offices, residences, a boutique hotel, a food hall and green space.
