Annual home tours, plant sales set for April & May

Spring has sprung and that means a host of home and garden tours as well as plant sales are on the way in April and May. Check out our guide and get inspired!

Trees Atlanta Annual Plant Sale

The nonprofit will host its 7th annual Native Plant Sale on April 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carter Center in PonceyHighland. Over 100 varieties of native perennials, grasses, shrubs, edibles and tree-friendly vines will be available for purchase. The selection showcases many of the native perennial wildflowers that are planted on the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum. All proceeds will benefit Trees Atlanta’s planting and education programs. Iris Show and Sale

The Georgia Iris Society will host its annual Iris Show and Sale on April 27 at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 1790 Lavista Road. Judging of the best flowers in the show will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the sale is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring more than 250 plants.

Druid Hills Tour of Homes & Gardens

This year’s tour is set for April 12-14 with six of Druid Hills’ most beautiful homes and gardens. This year’s tour includes homes that showcase the diverse architectural and design styles of Druid Hills homes and gardens. From the stately home now occupied by Springdale Park Elementary on Ponce de Leon and one of the first homes built on Oxford Road to a recent build on Briardale Lane and an urban goat farm on Lullwater, the six homes and one garden on the 2019 tour are an exhibition of modern living in a century-old neighborhood. Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour

Benefiting the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the 35tth annual tour will feature nine gardens at private homes in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Decatur and Midtown on May 11-12. A special stop on the tour will be late designer and event co-founder Ryan Gainey’s garden. The self-guided tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine. Inman Park Tour of Homes

As part of the annual Inman Park Festival, this year’s tour runs April 26-28. There will be nine of the neighborhood’s most unique homes, including bungalows, Craftsman, Neoclassical, Four Squares and more. For updated information on the tour, visit inmanparkfestival.org.

Midtown Garden Stroll

The Midtown Neighbors’ Association will host its 6th Annual Midtown Garden Stroll on May 19 from noon until 5 p.m. This free event is open to the public for a chance to see the gardens at private homes in the Midtown Garden District. Guests can expect to see formal gardens, casual gardens, backyard bee keeping, fountains, espalier, intricate brickwork and inspiring ideas for beautiful, fully-functional family yards. Guests may obtain a map of participating homes at MidtownAtlanta.org, on the Midtown Neighbors’ Facebook page, or pick up a printed copy on the day of the event at the Garden Stroll Headquarters located at 826 Penn Ave. Homeowners will often be on hand to answer questions and provide a complimentary drink.
