Our readers sound off on their favorite restaurants to rise and shine

each time that I eat at Highland Bakery, I’m never disappointed. The chicken egg benedict is amazing! You can’t go wrong with the sweet potato pancakes - truly one of a kind. 655 Highland Ave. (locations also in Midtown, Buckhead and on the campuses of Georgia Tech and Emory), highlandbakery.com.

Java Jive

“The Richie family votes for Java Jive,” said Norm Richie (whose wife, Clare, is one of INtown’s contributors). “I love the biscuits, Clare loves the Mediterranean omelet, our daughter loves the cheese grits, and our son loves it all. In addition to the food, we love the vibe. It’s one of the few places you can go where the owners really know their customers and stop and chat.” 790 Ponce de Leon Ave., (404) 876-6161.

Radial Café

Radial has long been a favorite of the INtown staff, as well as our readers. You can’t go wrong with the American Breakfast. My order: two eggs soft scrambled, bacon, grits and a biscuit instead of the toast. And, of course, sweet tea. 1530 DeKalb Ave., radial.us.

Flying Biscuit

Our email and Twitter lit up with recommendations for Flying Biscuit. Us Intowners are partial to the original location in Candler Park (1655 McLendon Ave.) but their are locations also in Midtown, Buckhead, Brookhaven, Sandy Springs and more for your biscuit fix. The turkey bacon is killer! flyingbiscuit.com.

Thumbs Up

You tweeted us about pancakes the size of your face, omelets, bacon and eggs and the multigrain biscuits all served in a homey diner atmosphere. What’s not to love? 573 Edgwood Ave. (also on Marietta Street near Downtown and Decatur), thumbsupdiner.com.

Ria’s Bluebird

American Roadhouse

“They give you so much food and it’s inexpensive,” said Charisse Byers. “I love the Roadhouse Breakfast: eggs, bacon or sausage, a biscuit, and the yummy home fries. I’ve been going here for years and love taking newcomers.” 842 N. Highland Ave., american-roadhouse.com

The White House

“All the food is good but the people are great,” said Charles B. Crawford, Jr., president and CEO of Private Bank of Buckhead, “It starts with the owner, Demosthenes, and finishes with Ella, who knows my order by heart - two poached eggs (medium), bacon, hash browns

(instead of grits), and wheat toast.” 3172 Peachtree Road, whitehouserestaurant. net

Folk Art

“Folk Art is a newer fave, especially for political breakfasts,” said B. Andrew Plant. “It’s a great combo of traditional breakfasts with twists and customization, and the retro vibe of the place is good. I feel like it has been there a long time. Burritos, tailored Benedict dishes and specials are my choices.” 465 N. Highland Ave., folkartrestaurant.com

Silver Skillet

Jim Brams from The Cooks Warehouse said the iconic Midtown breakfast spot, Silver Skillett, is a must. The classic diner serves up all the breakfast favorites with that extra touch of Southern comfort. 200 14th St., thesilverskillet.com

Sun In My Belly

“They have these biscuits are lighter than air,” said Jennifer Perry. “The Kirkwood Breakfast with the scrambled eggs with herbed boursin cheese, honey glazed bacon and the biscuit is my favorite.” 2161 College Ave., suninmybelly.com

Le Petit Marché

“The grits stack and the oatmeal is wonderfully sinful,” said poet and

Georgia Tech professor Karen Head. “And of course we all love owner Marchet Sparks. Her commitment to the Kirkwood community is fantastic.” 1984 Hosea L. Williams Dr., letpetitmarche. net.

J. Christopher’s
