The Atlanta Food & Wine Festival returns May 29 – June 1to the streets of Midtown for a fourth year. The four-day event is designed to lead guests on journey through the Southern region with an extensive schedule of programs, events and guest appearances. The weekend will offer three distinct activities: Learning Experiences, Tasting Experiences, and Dinners & Events. The Learning Experiences include entertaining cooking and cocktail demonstrations, tasting seminars and panel discussions all designed by industry leaders. The daily learning sessions are rounded off with visitors having the opportunity to sample food in the Tasting Tents. In the evening dinners and events extend the festival’s learning and tasting programs to wrap up the day. Tickets are $100 per person for entrance to the Tasting Tents. A day pass, which includes three Learning Experience events, is $185. A three-day pass is $525 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Taste of the Nation, a tasting event to raise money for childhood hunger nonprofit Share Our Strength, will be held May 8 at the Georgia Aquarium in Downtown Atlanta. The 26th annual event will feature dozens of restaurants from around metro Atlanta offering up bites for the cause. There will also be live and silent auctions, a wine tasting and live entertainment. The 12th annual Taste of the Highlands will be held May 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highland. Taste of the Highlands benefits Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and features menu samples from area restaurants. Last year, the event raised over $39,000. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 the day of the event. They can be purchased at tasteofthehighlands.com.

By the time you’re reading this, Cook Out should have opened its first Intown location in the former Mrs. Winners spot in East Atlanta. A second location on Northside Drive near Georgia Tech is expected to open in late summer.

The roster of tenants at Krog Street Market (krogstreetmarket.com) in Inman Park continues to grow with the announcement that Hop City beer and wine shop will open a 2,400-square-foot location in the Inman Park development. Hop City will offer an eclectic collection of craft beers, fine wines and growlers at an adjacent 750-square-foot bar. Also recently announced for the market: modern Japanese restaurant Craft Izakaya and a yet-to-be-named concept from Off the Dock Seafood.

Flip Burger (flipburgerboutique.com) in Poncey-Highland has finally opened its rooftop deck just in time for spring and summer dining.

Atlanta-based Boneheads Grilled Fish and Chicken (eatboneheads.com) has opened a new location at 264 Pharr Road in Buckhead. The sixth location of the franchise is located in the Eclipse building, in the space formerly occupied by Aqua Bistro.

Shoppers at Lenox Square in Buckhead hankering for a burrito bowl are in luck: Chipotle is opening a new location in the food court in May.

Decatur-based 7 Hens, which is known for its chicken schnitzel, will open a second location in Sandy Springs at Abernathy Square later this year.

Mama’s Cocina Latina (mamascocinalatina.com), formerly located at the corner of Piedmont and Cheshire Bridge roads, has moved to a new home in the former La Perla spot at 1951 Piedmont.

The Atlanta Food Truck Park & Event Center will host the second annual Surfin’ Saturday: Atlanta Food Truck Park & Event Center Surf Fest on May 10, from noon to 7 p.m. The music lineup includes s The Mystery Men, El Capitan & The Band with No Name, Moonbase, Gemini 13, The Surge!, The Crowkeepers and The Monterreys. Guests will be able to dine on a wide array of cuisine from food trucks as well as festive tropical cocktails from Raising the Bar. The park is at 1850 Howell Mill Road and admission is free.
