The articles for the Special Town Meeting include funding requests for $1,925 from the Community Preservation Fund for repairs to Hornbine School, $15,000 for computer work at the town offices, $10,000 for the purchase of a used Special Hazard Rescue Truck for the Fire Department, $5,000 to repave the Transfer Station roadway and $5,000 for facilities maintenance on town buildings. The funds for repairs at Hornbine School, if approved, will be transferred from the Community Preservation Fund’s Historic Resources Reserve and include repair and restoration of windows at the school. The funds needed for Information Technology work at the town offices are in addition to new computer equipment that residents approved at the fall town meeting. Town hall employees are still experiencing computer delays and having to deal with problems such as viruses and spam emails on a daily basis and this uses valuable time and resources, says Selectmen Chairman Mike Costello. Also, the town has never had its own server and needs to purchase one. “We need IT updates on all our computers. In order for us to be more efficient, we have to correct these problems immediately to better serve the citizens,” said Costello. continued on page 4...
