EP Local Advisory Committee for Special Education Fifth Annual Special Needs Recognition Awards
By Bob Rodericks The East Providence Local Advisory Committee for Special Education, held its annual recognition reception in early May before a large audience at Martin Middle School. The volunteers made up of parents of children with disabilities, teachers, staff and students had decorated the cafeteria brightly and provided for a dinner buffet. “Our committee meets throughout the school year to share information and concerns of educational issues,” said committee co-chair, Laurie Brown. The committees’ goals are: To enable parents of special education children to be effective in their advocacy efforts; to jointly advocate for all children with special needs, to aid the East Providence School Department in its efforts to provide quality education for all students and to provide each other with a strong network of support. continued on page 6...
Brownie Troop 290 celebrates their third year marching in the Memorial Day parade! This year they walk in style with their American flag hats while holding signs that say "imagine, believe, love, and laugh" Keeping the theme at large the troop held a banner saying "Where is your Brownie smile?"
