Recreation Dept. Announces 2022 Summer Day Camp Registration

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Recreation Dept. will hold a six-week summer day camp for East Providence youth ages 6-12 (age as of September 1, 2022). Camp will run from June 27, 2022 – August 5, 2022 (no camp July 4, 2022), at Pierce Field, 201 Mercer St. East Providence, RI 02914. Recreation counselors will lead children through a fun-filled day of camp activities that include sports, arts and crafts, special events, field trips and much more! Free lunch is provided. Camp operates rain or shine Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Transportation is NOT available to and from camp. Children must be dropped off and picked up. The program will follow all RIDOH COVID-19 safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our campers and staff. If RIDOH guidelines change, adjustments to the program will be made. Camp fee is $510 per child for the six-week program. The $255 deposit is due at registration. Final payment is due July 8, 2022. Space is limited. “How to Be a Great Babysitter” Class

East Providence, RI – The City of East Providence Recreation Department will host “How to be a Great Babysitter!” on Monday April 18,2022 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the East Providence Recreation Center, located at 610 Waterman Ave. This six hour course, is recommended for youth ages11-16. Youth are invited to participate in a fast-paced, interactive and fun

babysitting course. Students will have lots of hands-on experience learning American Heart Association CPR, choking and Automated External Defibrillator (AED techniques) for saving a life. Students will learn elements of first aid, child safety, changing and feeding a baby, how to handle an emergency, getting your babysitting business started and secrets to being known as the best babysitter on the block. The class is taught by Emma Alexander, a certified American Heart Association CPR and first aid instructor. She has been working at Mobile Medical Training for five years plus teaching life-saving skills to the next generation. Come join us and be one of only 4 percent of the population who knows how to effectively save a life. Class fee is $75 per person and includes certificate of completion and a T-shirt. 2022 Dolly Searle Golf Tournament

East Providence, RI – The East Providence Recreation Department will hold the 67th annual Dolly Searle Golf Tournament on Monday, June 13, 2022. The event will take place at the Agawam Hunt Club located at 15 Roger Williams Ave. in Rumford, RI. Entry fee is $400 per foursome and includes greens fees, carts, lunch and prizes. East Providence Recreation Department Accepting Dolly Searle Student Scholarship Applications

The East Providence Department of Recreation is currently accepting applications for the Dorman “Dolly” Searle Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to East Providence residents who are graduating seniors of an accredited high school. Mr. Searle was a longtime East Providence municipal employee who dedicated his time to the development of youth in this community. Awards in the amount of $1,000.00 are available. Applicants must fulfill the following criteria: • Be a resident of East Providence • Be a high school graduate of an accredited high school in June of 2022 • Plan to major in Recreation/Physical Education, Fine Arts or Public Service at an accredited college Complete the application including a 300-500 word typed essay stating the reasons why the applicant should be considered for this award and delivered to the Recreation Department by 4:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2022.
