In partnership with industry partners and organisations, the RP Higher Year Scholarship is offered to outstanding Year 2 and 3 SOH students who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents. The diverse range of scholarships across various disciplines serves to recognise those with outstanding academic performance and a consistent track record in their chosen CCA. Ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 per student per year, the sponsoring organisation may offer students an internship during their final year or even a fast-track career pathway via a management trainee programme upon their graduation. Parameswaran’s journey in the hospitality industry began with his internship as an SOH student. The work attachment led to a management trainee opportunity with Marina Bay Sands (MBS), following which he joined its concierge team. It has been five years since, and Parameswaran is now Hotel Concierge Supervisor with MBS.

The amount of passion and effort that Sean pours into his work is palpable. The Technical Sourcer with Facebook APAC is taking his career further with the Sourcer Development Programme through the Xpand Group, having already attained a Bachelor of Business Management degree from SIM-RMIT University. Sean may have graduated from SOH some years ago, but he still keeps close ties with the school as Chairman of the Alumni Advisory Committee, working with us to engage our other graduates.

Azmi emerged as the overall winner at the 2019 AICR Receptionist of the Year. He is representing Singapore to compete for the David Campbell Trophy in February 2020 in Warsaw, Poland. Azmi is currently employed as the Front Office Guest Relations Officer at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.

Vanni Tan Jing Qing Diploma in Hotel & Hospitality Management (DHHM) 2017 Graduate SkillsFuture ELP Specialist Diploma in Hospitality Business Management* 2018 Graduate

In 2017, Vanni joined the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) in the Hotel sector and was offered the position of Club InterContinental Assistant. Upon completion of the ELP, she became part of i-Host, a 12-month accelerated Management Trainee Programme which provided her with various opportunities for career advancement.

Kun Rong went on to pursue a business degree at the Singapore Management University after graduating from RP. At a young age of 30, he is one of the co-owners of Weekends Pte Ltd and holds the position of director in this company. Staying true to his thirst for challenges and problem solving, Kun Rong believes in providing fun and innovative event solutions to his clients. His greatest wish is to create memorable experiences for his event participants.

Problem-based Learning – the teaching methodology which RP adopts – equipped me with essential skillsets such as cognitive reasoning and problem-solving. These skills helped me to manage challenges in my tertiary education as well as difficulties in real-life situations more effectively and efficiently.”

Zhi Hong is currently working at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach as its Finance Operations Manager. As someone who constantly thinks of contributing back to his alma mater, he has also returned to SOH to teach financial management as an Associate Lecturer.

Zachary’s diploma has brought him as far as Belgium, where he worked in two amazing restaurants on attachment. Today, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Food Business Management under his belt, he is exploring a wide field of opportunities here and abroad, while providing private dining services as part of his repertoire.

In the hospitality industry, especially in restaurants, it is always important to get the basics right. Working hours can be quite long and we have to manage tricky situations such as handling unhappy customers. The Diploma in Restaurant & Culinary Operations ensured I mastered the basics to better handle such situations, so I know I can thrive in this industry.”

Our local and overseas Industry Immersion Programme, student overseas travel and service-learning trips provide multiple opportunities for you to do just that. The Industry Immersion Programme (IIP) is your opportunity to showcase the skills you have learnt in school and apply them in real-life work situations in Singapore or overseas. You will be assigned to one of our renowned industry partners such as DBS Bank, TDCX, InterContinental Hotels Group, Concorde Hotel Singapore, Cityneon Events, Koelnmesse, The Lo & Behold Group, or Les Amis Group amongst many others.

DID YOU KNOW? More than 85% of SOH’s students were considered for full-time employment by their internship companies upon graduation.


The IIP gave me the invaluable chance to feel what it is like to work away from home and family. It was not as difficult as I had expected. On the contrary, it taught me to be independent. I not only developed new skills but also forged my own network in the industry and made friends from all around the world. These connections have opened up plenty of opportunities. International Learning Experience Our trips focus on both international competitions and service learning, all of which will provide you with incredible opportunities to learn from new people, cultures and experiences overseas. To date, SOH students have travelled to Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Nepal, Russia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

Peer Support Leaders Programme Selected student leaders will be trained to function as Peer Support Leaders (PSLs). These PSLs help to build the One-SOH school spirit, engaging SOH students in various school-wide activities like Battle of the Republic Annual Games and the Orientation Programme. The PSLs also serve as peer mentors to help new students bridge the transition into polytechnic life, while supporting current students with their holistic development.
