Battle on the high seas! Doing business in the global marine industry has never been so competitive. It’s a battle – no place for the unprepared or the faint-hearted. Every day it seems you are faced with a raft of new safety and environmental legislation. Developing countries are bringing fleets into the market, placing pressure on your margins. And then you’re faced with ever-increasing technology requirements to provide your crews with the welfare standards they enjoy on land, or they will not consider a life at sea. You have to handle all these factors and still ensure your ships provide profits for the company shareholders. Every day your ships are not working to their full potential, whether it’s due to delayed parts, extended surveys and maintenance, crewing shortfalls, or even port state detention, your profits are bleeding. In the marine business, time really is money; your money, serious money.

Martek understands the pressures you face – our people have more than 100 years’ experience in this business. That’s why we can offer you a comprehensive range of innovative systems and equipment designed specifically to keep your ships safe, compliant and efficient, and your crews safe and happy. We are a market leader. We exist to ease your compliance headaches and deliver the highest standards of customer service in the marine industry. It you want to obtain a competitive advantage, peace of mind and a guaranteed innovative equipment solution from a market leader that goes way beyond compliance, look no further: we’re ready to serve you! MARTEK: Innovating beyond compliance

Engine Emissions Monitoring MariNOx – Direct NOX, CO2 and SOX Monitoring System MariNOx® is the world’s first Type Approved (Lloyds & DNV) onboard NOx, CO2 and SOx engine emissions monitoring system. MariNOx® provides you with the simplest solution for compliance with MARPOL Annex VI Reg 13, ‘The NOx Technical Code’ and MEPC.103 (49).

Environmental Best Practice By installing MariNOx® on your vessels you are demonstrating your commitment as an environmentally responsible shipping company. The major charterers now wish to report their total emissions for each area of operations, and the unique totalised emissions reporting facility in MariNOx® allows you to access all the required emissions data. MariNOx® is being developed into a carbon neutral product, allowing you to support the environment further.

Flexibility and Freedom With MariNOx® you are free to operate your engine how you choose, free from the constraints of the onerous Parameter Check method. You have the freedom to source non-original spare NOx critical spare parts to ensure that you avoid delays and save money.

Proven Cost Savings Fuel savings of up to 2.45% have been proven onboard Metrostar’s VLCC MT Crude Star, Peter Doehle’s container ship MV Copaipo, and NITC’s VLCC MT Iran Daylam. Other operational savings from MariNOx® include savings on spare parts, avoiding costly delays and Parameter Check survey fees.

Norwegian NOx Tax Introduced on 1st January 2007, this new form of tax is a ‘watershed’ within the marine industry and means that all vessels operating in Norwegian waters are required to pay tax against the actual weight of NOx emitted. MariNOx® has received approval as a method of direct NOx tax measurement by the Norwegian Maritime Directive and delivers tax savings of 20%+ compared to paying against the RPM rate card and source-specific methods.

What your fellow ship owners / managers say “The system proved accurate and reliable for NOx / CO2 monitoring in compliance with MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 13 and the NOx Technical Code. By monitoring NOx & CO2 emissions, the engine was optimised to achieve audited fuel savings in the region of 2.45%.” Mr T. Pavlidis, Technical Director, Metrostar “The equipment fully met with our expectations to demonstrate compliance.” Katharine Palmer, BP Environmental Advisor “Hoegh Fleet Services undertook a thorough analysis of available technology in the market and concluded that Martek’s MariNOx was the most suitable system.” Per Borstad, Superintendent, Hoegh Fleet Services “The trials concluded that fuel savings in the range 0.6% – 2.1% were delivered.” Mr Kurt Brieger, Fleet Manager, Peter Dohle Schiffahrt
