Over the past few months, Logicom has also announced a new strategy to enhance our coverage in Iraq, as part of our commitment to grow overall business in the Middle East. Through this investment, Logicom will make the best of our multinational presence in the Middle East and serve our Iraq-focused partners. In April, Logicom grew its vendor portfolio with the signing of a distribution agreement with virtualization, networking and cloud infrastructure leader, Citrix. As a Value Added Distributor, Logicom will distribute the full range of Citrix products and solutions across the GCC, KSA, Egypt and the Levant, as well as in Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus. This appointment is a testament to our company’s solid skills and global experience, and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with our partners at Citrix. Finally, Logicom had the great pleasure last month of hosting a cocktail reception in honor of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, and his delegation during their official four-day visit to the UAE. The cocktail party was held at The Fort at Madinat Jumeirah, and attended by approximately 300 guests, including ministers, ambassadors, bankers, lawyers and top professionals from the UAE and surrounding regions. We look forward to continuing to enhance and expand our coverage, always reaching new heights and providing the best possible service to our partners. Once again, we thank you for your support and look forward to another successful quarter together. Sajith Raj GM, Logicom Dubai

Changing dynamics Logicom and Citrix Solutions have partnered together to offer cutting-edge technology to the Middle East customers. The Insider explores in-depth.
O
rganisations are increasingly realising the importance of upgrading and strengthening their network infrastructure in the background of trends such as virtualisation, mobility and cloud. Citrix Solutions has recently appointed Logicom as its second value-added distributor in the Middle East

region to cater to the growing demand for solutions that help implementing and maintaining the correct infrastructure and designing virtual and mobile workspaces. “Demand for virtualisation and mobility is increasing year after year as reports indicate that tablets are expected to overpass the PCs in units sales.
Currently, there is a shift towards mobility among enterprise managers and the consumer market. People expect their work to be done from anywhere, at any time and on any device, says Khalil Yazbeck, Business Unit Manager, Logicom. In addition to complementing Logicom’s product range, this
partnership allows the regional customers to have access to these mobility and networking solutions as the distributor is now authorised to offer complete end-to-end solutions in GCC, KSA, Egypt and LEVANT markets. These include offerings in networking, servers, storage, workstations and virtualisation with products such as Citrix

XenDesktop, XenApp, XenMobile, NetScaler and CloudBridge. Logicom expects to develop the vendor’s business by recruiting and enabling new partners and focusing on demand generation activities. “In addition to that, we will also set up Citrix demo centre where partners and end customers can experience
Citrix solutions in real time,” Yazbeck explains. He further believes that the resellers will benefit from Logicom’s services such as proof of concepts, designing solutions and defining project requirements offered through their qualified presales system engineers. Elaborating he says, “The reseller now has a one stop shop for their
infrastructure and data centre solution requirements with this partnership.” The value-added distributor’s alliance with Citrix looks very promising, taking into account the high demand on desktop, application virtualization and mobility, says Yazbeck, especially as the concept of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
is getting more popular in the region. Executives and sales professionals want to use their own devices to access organisation application system or email. This means companies must implement solutions that can protect and secure organisational data without hindering the convenience of the user. He adds, “Organisations now need to find a way to deal with this without increasing the risk.” According to Nicholas Argyrides, Director of Sales & Marketing, Logicom Distribution, the company has been consistently focusing on creating programs and support mechanisms that accelerate the business of its partners. “We have been supporting the Middle East reseller base with senior level, experienced management teams located across the region. Logicom is uniquely qualified to deliver and integrate complex technologies,” adds Argyrides. “This appointment is testament to Logicom’s solid skills and experience in the region and we welcome the addition of the Citrix solution-set to our brand portfolio,” he says.

meet the team
Santosh Shetty, Logistics & Warehouse Manager at Logicom with his team at the distributor’s warehouse in Jebel Ali.
Meet the team No distribution company can function without a logistics team. This issue, we turn the spotlight on Logicom’s logistics and warehouse team, which is its back bone. A very integral part of operations, this is the team that manages the nuances of the distribution business. The basic function of the team is to handle controlled stock and physical distribution of the products to the resellers. Santosh Shetty, Logistics & Warehouse Manager, Logicom says, “Controlled stock means right products in stock for the right period on the shelf and with the right quantity.” The team’s everyday goal is to focus on improving the turnaround time, ensure proper utilization of space, handle controlled inventory,
adhere to the customs and JAFZA rules and follow the company guidelines. And on top of it all, the team is responsible for on-time delivery, minimizing logistics and warehouse costs. With all these roles and function, Shetty says, “We deliver value along with products and ultimately maximize stakeholders’ value, which is our company’s mission.” Having been with company for the last eight years, Shetty’s key responsibility is to ensure smooth logistics and warehouse operations right from getting the stocks from the vendors, managing the stock inside the warehouse to delivering it to the customer or forwarder. Improving team efficiency, optimizing space utilization and working
towards customer satisfaction within the company norms are other functions Shetty plays out. And apart from these roles, he also directs and motivates his team and ensures effective and efficient distribution with superior service. “We have a dynamic team which makes a difference all the time. Walking through the doors of Logicom every day and feeling the positive charm that our great culture and happy, engaged people generate motivates me the most. You feel it immediately, that sense of something exceptional happening here. That’s a great feeling that I want to perpetuate. I also believe that being a great place to work is the difference between being a good company and a great

When a company truly cares about its people, nurtures the culture, defines the purpose, creates a great environment and offers challenging work, great things happen. Striving to be a great place to work is not easy, but it’s definitely worth it.” Shetty says.
