Touchmate is a homegrown ICT brand that has grown exponentially over the last 25 years, manufacturing tablet PCs, HR and accounting software in addition to a much larger range of PC peripherals. Last year, the vendor beefed up its tablet portfolio with 35 new models and managed to sell around 85,000 units during the 45 days of Gitex. “Our aim is to create products that deliver the experience of a much more expensive brand at half the cost. This is our USP and today, Touchmate tablets, speakers, monitors and a whole host of other products are available across almost all the major hypermarkets, IT stores and are distributed across 70 countries,” said Vasant Menghani, MD of Quality Gulf, which owns the Touchmate brand. He credited the company’s retail partners for the growth of the brand, and has partnered with Jacky’s Electronics and also hypermarkets such as Carrefour and Lulu to expand its reach. After clocking double-digit growth rate in 2013, Touchmate is now gearing up to establish local presence in Saudi and Egypt, in addition to European countries such as Switzerland, Germany and Netherlands. “We are getting into the communications business by launching Android-based mobile phones in the first quarter of 2014 and also start out home appliance range,” said Menghani. Also, Touchmate set up a new headquarter in Dubai Investment Park with 85,000 square feet areas, which facilitates the sales office, warehouses and PC/notebooks assembly units.
