HESWALL WIRRAL The Wirral as an area starts to the north‑west of Ellesmere Port and reaches out to the coast as far as Hoylake and New Brighton. It is a small area of 60 square miles but has a broad range of neighbourhoods including the more salubrious residential areas on the west coast. The differences between areas can be easily identified by looking at the average house prices.* Eastern shore • New Ferry: £127,886 • Tranmere: £110,308 Western shore • West Kirby: • Thurstaston: • Neston: • Heswall:

Merseyside and the Wirral is being recognised as a property investment hotspot. For property investors, the peninsula (Wirral) offers considerable choice.

Investors who prioritise capital appreciation would be interested to hear that in Heswall prices rose by an average of 4.25% year on year equating to an impressive annual increase of £14,795. The Liverpool City Region is attracting many millions in investment, and expects to create thousands of new jobs in the coming years. That is bound to have a positive effect on local living conditions and could well drive demand and prices even higher. The area currently supports over 8,000 enterprises and has an economy valued at around £3.9bn. There are also numerous regeneration and expansion plans including: • Wirral Waters • The A41 Corridor

Of these, the largest will be the Wirral Waters Enterprise Zone, which is being led by the investment giant Peel Holdings and valued at £4.5 billion. Set to be developed over a period of 30 years and will be one of LCR’s preferred sites for inward investment. Planners expect the project to deliver up to 20,000 new jobs, and eventually driving around £47 million of economic growth. Other Wirral communities earmarked for improvements include New Ferry and Bromborough on the eastern shore, and Moreton near the north-western end of the peninsula.

Other Growth Plans Before the onset of Covid-19, Wirral Council set itself some key objectives, including (amongst others): • Creating or safeguarding 5,000 jobs • Securing £250 million of private sector investment • 250 new business starts • Extending high-speed broadband coverage to 98% of residents Some of these plans have been delayed, but the aspirations remain and, given the small size of the peninsula, any that are realised should produce some dramatic effects.

It was also decided after the first Open to allow entries from all around the world, and now there has been 120 winners crowned from 15 different nations. After 1870 discussions were held and it was in in 1873 that the winner (Tom Kidd) was the first to be presented with the Claret Jug, a replica is now presented to the winners.
