My Leadership Camp experience was the best experience of my entire life. It was truly life changing for me. I was able to learn so much about myself as well as meet some of the greatest people I will ever come across. I enjoyed every physical activity (even though I found out how out of shape I am!), every speaker and every ‘Smorgie’ (the evening programmes). In fact, the best way to sum it up is to say I literally enjoyed every second of my trip. Michelle

VILLAGE CAMPS Austria Zell am See
Film Academy Campers are inspired to learn what it takes to make a film from script writing to shooting, editing, directing, and organising sound and light. Film Academy director Edward McDougal is a renowned producer and director of a number of award-winning films as well as a university professor who travels worldwide to deliver expert seminars in screenwriting and production. Campers are taught the technical side of filming, production, editing and special effects. Their involvement is total, first developing a script and then modifying a story board, selecting locations, shooting, editing and dubbing. The cast of the final film consists of the entire camp community and each participant in this programme receives a DVD of their very own short movie after returning home! Traditionally, mornings, and occasionally afternoons and evenings, are devoted to the film project. Using the group’s creativity skills, an existing script will be modified, locations investigated and campers interviewed to determine individual roles. This is an inspiring camp which encourages enthusiasm, energy, dedication and real creativity. During the afternoons there is a choice of other activities, always provided that campers are able to finally tear themselves away from their cameras Ages 10-16 and computers! Incidentally, these are all iMACs with first class editing capabilities.

English Language Camp
German Language Camp
The goal is to ensure that campers learn English in an engaging and fun way with emphasis on getting youngsters to speak and understand the language better. Thirty hours of instruction in the two weeks are constantly reinforced in the ‘outside the classroom hours’ as the main camp language is English. Campers are encouraged to improve their spoken English but at the same time to have a fun time in a warm and friendly environment. This is a very successful and popular way of teaching campers to enjoy the learning process and the results have been unprecedented. Ages 10-16
The emphasis is on fun while learning German the Village Camps way. With mornings devoted to language instruction, the guiding principle is to gain proficiency in speaking and comprehension. The course philosophy is based on learning a new language by enjoying the experience. In all, there are thirty hours of practical instruction in small groups of 8-12 students. Language campers are encouraged to use their German throughout the day, whichever activity they join. Fun ‘penalties’ are given to campers ‘caught’ speaking any language other than German, making this camp a great way to learn a language. During the afternoons, campers from the different programmes all join together to enjoy a variety of activities, some planned by Village Camps and others chosen by the campers themselves from our suggestions. In addition, all campers will take an active part in the Film Academy. Ages 10-16

VILLAGE CAMPS China Beijing
ChinaBeijing Chinese classes take place on most mornings for about 90 minutes during this three week camp and all classes are taught by experienced native instructors in a fun, enjoyable way.
Village Camps invites youngsters to ancient China to experience the opportunity of a lifetime on a programme designed to give international campers a true taste of China and its amazing culture and exchange ideas with local Chinese campers.
Modern Facilities in an Ancient Land Located in the prestigious Shunyi district of Beijing, the New Talent Academy is situated just 20 minutes from Beijing Capital International Airport in an area where many other international schools have their base. The magnificent garden-like campus covers an area of 22 hectares (54 acres) and offers brand-new accommodation and top quality dining and sporting facilities. Around this area are beautiful avenues of trees, gardens and flower nurseries. The superb accommodation is in 3-4 bedded rooms with en suite facilities. Sports facilities are also top class making the academy the perfect place to host our China Camp. The China Experience Camp – A truly inspiring programme! As its name suggests, the main objective of this programme is to give international campers the true experience and a real appreciation of the culture and the people of China. Throughout the three weeks at camp there is a total immersion in Chinese culture covering the language, cooking, music, art, dancing and calligraphy with sessions in martial arts and tai chi amongst the most popular activities. The three week stay allows time for a major excursion schedule with visits to many ‘must-see’ sites both in Beijing itself and other fascinating places of interest with one of the highlights being the overnight train to Xi’an for a visit to the hugely impressive Terra Cotta Warriors. And of course, campers enjoy, together with their newly made Chinese friends, a variety of sports and team-building activities. Ages 13-17
Chinese Culture Workshop Many activities that help campers experience and enjoy Chinese culture are presented in workshops, including paper-cutting, traditional painting, kite-making and learning the art of preparing and cooking Dim Sum! Campers also practice their Chinese calligraphy skills on the basic characters that they have learned in class or seen around Beijing and other places during their excursions. Chinese Peers at Camp Together with international campers who travel to Beijing, the camp also hosts a group of Chinese teenagers of the same age range (13-17). The international campers and the Chinese campers are completely integrated into camp life but the Chinese group modify the schedule so that they cover English lessons and ‘Western’ Culture’ workshops. A true cultural experience requires close interaction with the locals so this camp organises the international campers to live, work, play, learn and have fun together with their new Chinese friends. What an incredible opportunity! Getting To China Most campers will have the opportunity to join a group leaving together with a counsellor from London or Frankfurt making the traveling and the process of entering China more convenient and pleasant. Campers can of course travel alone and be met by Village Camps staff at the Beijing airport. Tourist visas should always be obtained as early as possible and Village Camps will provide all supporting documentation to facilitate this process.
Activities Available Introduction to Chinese Language Chinese language serves as an important window into the rich culture of China and its people. While developing fluency in Chinese takes years, Village Camps has designed a programme to help campers learn basic vocabulary for use in daily life, stimulating them to continue the invaluable process of learning such an important language.
