THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION Re:solution is a new online magazine founded by a collective of seven upcoming photographers based in Stockholm. The idea of Re:solution magazine is to create a new independent playroom for photography and arts, where our keywords are variety and diversity rather than a certain style or point of view. Our goal is to release a themed issue every second or third month wherein we will invite other photographers, illustrators, writers and designers to collaborate in making this an as exciting medium as possible.

RE:SOLUTION ISSUE #3: BY NIGHT
Citylights, empty streets and highways. A reindeer caught in your headlights. Empty places. Dark spaces. Walking home barefoot from parties in the early hours of morning. Taking a detour to go skinny dipping in a nearby lake. Looking behind your back when passing dark alleyways. Sleepless nights in front of a screen with a cup of cold creativity by your hand. The flicker of the streetlights and whispers in the woods. The monsters of your mind coming alive in the pile of yesterdays clothes to the tune of the refrigerator buzzing hungrily. Confusing nightmares with reality. Wondering if you are really awake. Or even there at all. Lying in the frostbitten grass beneath a starry sky, sharing stories about life with someone special. Hearing the distant sounds of traffic in a city that’s going to sleep. Watching your warm breath make little ghusts of smoke. Two cold hands in one warm mitten. Ignoring the cold september air finding it’s way in under your jacket. Feeling romantic as fuck. By the shoreline of darkness. By the city of silence. By night.

EDITORIAL STAFF// Creatures of the night.
SAGA
saga@resolutionmagazine.com Once spent a whole night at a bus stop with a boy. “Neither one of us wanted to leave. I remember the rain, thunder and saying goodbye to him at 6 am. After that I ran home like there was no tomorrow. I really had to pee!“
HANNA RICHTER
hanna@resolutionmagazine.com Remembers that spring night when they slept on the beach. “I never imagined a starry sky like that existed. When we woke up at 6 am the rain was pouring down.”
EVELINE JOHNSSON
eveline@resolutionmagazine.com Sometimes finds the night brighter than the day.
CHRISTOPHER HARNESK-NILSSON
christopher@resolutionmagazine.com Remembers the night when he first saw her. It was late August and he was on his way home from work. She was out partying with some friends... Now he’s hers and she’s his.
JIMMY ERIKSSON
jimmy@resolutionmagazine.com Once or twice spent the night in someones divine presence.
BEATA HOLMGREN
beata@resolutionmagazine.com Remembers lying in the ashes of a burnt down barn looking up at the bright summer night sky.
KATARINA HAMMARLUND
katarina@resolutionmagazine.com And Everlast says; late one night there was a big gun fight Max lost his head He pulled out his chrome .45 Talked some shit And wound up dead. 5
FREDDY BILLQVIST
Lets his inspiration come from the normal life around him and then puts silly things in these normal situations. The thing that motivates him is that he never gets satisfied because things can always be improved. Nine years ago he experienced a bad night that he’ll remember for a long time. “I had fourty drinks in one row and I was king for one hour before I felt sick of all the drinks - but what do you know when you are eighteen.“
JOHANNA LJUNGQUIST
Is inspired by things like subcultures, teenagers, nights and eccentric people. She says that what motivates her is the knowledge that she is not immortal and therefore will die some day. Johanna says that “what happens in the night stays in the night“.
SVANTE RICHTER
Gets inspired by the flutter of a passing bird, the rawness and passion of sex and love. His motivation comes from the joy of the faces of his flock, the righteousness of his cause. He remembers one night when he danced naked in front of east Europe’s most famous castle, in Budapest. “Oddly enough, the security guards didn’t mind. I led my flock into nirvana that very night.”
THERESE PERSSON
Becomes inspired by music, german fashion magazines from the 80’s, faces and geometry. She has recently discovered space as her inspirational source. Meeting people that believe in themselves and in yourself motivates her. She remembers the summer nights with her mother on the balcony. “She would tell me all about the constellations in the sky, while I was poking the dead moths in the candle grease. It was a wonderful time.“ 6
HANS ARNOLD
Has throughout his life inspired many people with his carachteristic and enchanting illustrations, inspired by great surrealists such as DalĂ and Magritte. Hans has been a very hard working man and during the years 54-79 he produced one image a week (that would be 1300 images!) for swedish magazine Vecko-Revyn that had a series of thriller novels written by various authors, for example Roald Dahl and Agatha Christie . The book Veckans chock (Shock of the Week) from 2006 contains 250 of those compelling pics. We will be sure to browse over to his webpage and get our hands on a copy that piece of eye candy!

What you found interesting in me I will never know, My objective was only that of youth, Entertain, shock and penetrate anyone that found me worthy A sip of whiskey might not be scorned?
As the night dragged on, We make plans for our immediate future,
evening,
But since we are sitting here, since you are both attractive and bored
And we ripped open each others emotional sutures. We danced into the city lights, Bleeding from open wounds.

ARLING
By four a.m. I ask you for a kiss But you took it amiss, You run off to find bliss With some other fella. Life is full of misery, loneliness and suffering And its all over much too soon. Cause the sun is rising, And you’re sleeping with some other fool.

THIS HOUSE IS NOT A HOME Written and photographed by Saga
For you, my love.
This house is not a home, home is where your heart is. There is water in your eyes, salt on your cheeks Your love is far away, gone for several weeks Now all your fears have curled up into your hair The friends you thought you had were never there And in the cold night when you are all alone There is no one to talk to on the phone This house is not a home.
