Mabetex Group is honored to be appointed to design and build another prestigious project in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan: the new National Neoclassic Drama Theater, cultural symbol of the country, as a personal dream of the President Nazarbaev.
The Theater covers a surface of 25’000 sqm near the Ishim River embankment at the intersection of Nazhimedenova A. Baitursynova Avenues and 23-15 Road in Nursultan, the new Drama Theater was built, transforming the skyline of the capital’s Independence Square axis. The Theater is build in an area of about 20 hectares and is located near the Astana Nurly Zhol railway station, the main transport hub of the city.
The building hosts the entrance foyer, two multifunctional rooms for theatrical performances and events such as musicals and other shows. The main hall is designed for 635 seats, divided into 585 in the stalls and 50 in the boxes, with a 12-seat VIP stage, while the orchestra pit can host till 50 elements. The small hall is designed for 202 seats in the stalls, dressing rooms for artists, auxiliary rooms and of ce, a modern bar, dressing room and ticket of ces, as well as a VIP lounge area in the VIP lobby, a restaurant with adjoining kitchen, of ces, relaxation area, dressing rooms and rehearsal rooms.
On the territory there are uncovered parking lots for light vehicles. In addition to pedestrian access, according to the requirements of the regulations, ramps are provided for low-mobility groups of the population and cars are also accessible. The necessary landscaping is provided by planting trees, shrubs, ower beds. The service entrances and the vehicle loading / unloading area are on the opposite side of the building. The entrance to the basement is provided from the sides.
The original style of the Mabetex group is evident in this work: neat lines, a fusion of modern architectural concepts and concepts of the Kazakh tradition, shapes and ornaments and style are inspired by the nearby river and Kazakh calligraphy presented in a neoclassical way.
The building is monumental, with the main facade which is a pediment full of bas-reliefs depicting national elements and national musical instruments, decorated with precious Sicilian Pearl marble of various sizes and thicknesses (1’470 Tons in total), creating a perfect harmony of colors and materials typical of neoclassical architecture, which perfectly t into the natural stone, marked on all sides with large round columns containing national motifs in the form of embossed, and portals reminiscent of classical Kazakh architecture.
