Kelsey created her My Rowe Design by imagining her ideal client, a world traveler who appreciates beauty and heritage. “She is stylish, sophisticated, and family-oriented,” says Kelsey. The client’s possessions are part of her personal narrative and hold precious memories within them. “She knows that new doesn’t always mean better and quality is non-negotiable,” the designer says. With this in mind, everything in the space feels precious and valued, but also made to be enjoyed by the people most important to the imagined client — her family on the coffee table — a family functioning together all in the same space.”
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
Vintage Anchor Piece like a console, side table or cabinet
Durable Rug or Carpet
Architecture-Inspired Lighting
Textural Ceramics
Unexpected Modern Element
The ultimate goal of the design team was to create a space based around their signature vintage modern style. Kelsey’s space delivers this “old meets new” aesthetic by combining the classic forms of our Brampton Chair and Moreau Slip Sofa with more contemporary frames such as the Cleo Ottomans and Boden Sofa. This look walks the line between transitional and modern. Warm neutrals are approachable and easy on the eyes, perfect for a welcoming, family-friendly space. A collection of travel-inspired art gives the space a collected feel that suggests a world traveler who appreciates the comfort and charm of home.

WE WANTED TO CREATE AN APPROACHABLE, LIVED-IN LOOK THAT JUXTAPOSED BOTH OLD AND NEW ELEMENTS.
MY FAVORITE…
Source of Design Inspiration
Hands down, it’s travel. I could go to Kearney, Nebraska and find something that inspires me…no offense to Kearney, of course! I also love gathering inspiration from old movies.
Travel Destination
I have always wanted to visit Spain, but haven’t made it there yet. Europe is always an inspiration overload as well. For relaxation and a true vacation though, you can find me at the beach ten times out of ten.
Unique Collectible
I collect parlor kaleidoscopes — people used to use them as entertainment before the age of radio and TV. They are something I love showing friends and spend time looking at with my kids.

DuVäl was inspired to create a truly innovative look using Rowe, exploring a look that is adaptable to both commercial and residential applications. A palette of warm rust, coral, garnet and gold tones sets the stage for DuVäl’s ideal client. The designer imagined the space being inhabited by a strong woman who is “comfortable in her skin and has a certainty in her step.” Sculptural accent furnishings such as the Optic Cocktail Table, as well as Journey and Reverie End Tables, add an artistic aesthetic that suggests sophisticated taste. “[This client] is her own boss and doesn’t need permission to be herself, “ says DuVäl. “The space, like the imagined client, exudes a masculine strength wrapped in powerful feminine energy.”

“I wanted to lean into more of a commercial and multi-functional design,” says the designer, “rather than just creating a pretty room.” The clean lines of our Caspian Sectional and Bernie Swivel Chair provide a modern feel in this space, combining strength and softness. In a commercial application, this contemporary aesthetic is stylish enough to suit just about any client or situation. “But for a residential approach,” says DuVäl, “it feels most suited for someone who loves to entertain — a person who enjoys lively conversations and an all-night hang-sesh.” With these things in mind, DuVäl leaned into the idea of creating a space with a “speakeasy” feel that was bold but still felt approachable. “It has a more basement-loungey vibe,” the designer says, “rather than a traditional, formal living space.

TOP TRENDS FOR 2023
I’m into adding more natural elements like exposed woods and concrete into spaces. We are definitely moving toward moodier rooms, and are excited to use dramatic countertops, audacious and daring wallpaper, and oversized pillows. Most importantly, we’re all about moving forward with confidence and breaking design rules.
WE’RE INSPIRED BY THE BOUNDS IN WHICH WE CAN WORK AND THE RISKS WE CAN TAKE TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING EDGY AND UNEXPECTED.

MY ROWE DESIGN BY CITY HILL DESIGN
The inspiration for Katie and Amy’s My Rowe Design was to invent a space featuring some of their favorite upholstery options, art and accessories, while creating a comfortable, collected environment filled with bold colors and materials. The City Hill Design philosophy is intentional design for everyday life, which is exemplified by this relaxed yet stylish space. “This space was designed for a family that desires home to feel cozy and enjoys spending time together,” say the designers. “We envision a lot of family games, kids’ homework, and Legos on the coffee table — a family functioning together all in the same space.”
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
Intentional Layering
Natural Materials
Strong Upholstery Forms
Unexpected Art
Statement Styling
Their My Rowe Design space layers patterns with nature-inspired shades such as terracotta and slate. A favorite of the designers was “the stripe fabric on the Bristol Sofa!” The welcoming, curvaceous lines of the Bristol Sofa, Bernie Swivel Chair and Neoma Bench are anchored by the strong geometry of occasionals such as the Oasis Credenza and Capri End Table, striking a perfect balance of forms. A collection of bold and eclectic modern art and accessories completes the playful spirit of this family-friendly space in soft yet sophisticated style.
