UPCOMING SERVICES AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Wed, June 22nd Paraklesis to the Virgin Mary 7:00 pm Adult Sunday School 8:00 pm HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! FATHER'S DAY IS A DAY honoring fathers, celebrated on the third Sunday of June in 52 of the world's countries and on other days elsewhere. It was made a federal holiday when President Lyndon Johnson issued a proclamation in 1966. During childhood, boys and girls look to their fathers for a sense of security, warmth, attention, patience, and understanding. As young people mature, their fathers contribute to their spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, and social well-being. St. John Chrysostom wrote, “The husband/father must bear in mind that his deeds and words should stimulate piety in his home.” In reaching adulthood, men and women alike are enriched immeasurably by the wisdom of their fathers as they pursue careers, start families, and take active roles in the community. It is a day to not only honor your father, but all men who have acted as a father figure in your life - whether as Priests, Stepfathers, Uncles, Grandfathers, or “Big Brothers.” THE RESURRECTION SENIORS will be having their last meeting and outing before the summer break. Please come and join us at The Jolly Fisherman Restaurant in Roslyn, on Tuesday, June 21st at 12 noon. Please call Aleka at 676-3430 or Maria at pamegamerf@optonline.net to RSVP. THE CHOIR WILL BE ENDING FOR THE SUMMER SEASON on Father’s Day, June 19th. It will reconvene in September with rehearsals that are occur every Tuesday at 7:45 pm. The first rehearsal will be the Tuesday after Labor Day, September 6th. If you have been blessed with a singing voice, please consider joining the choir. Altos and tenors are especially needed, but all voice parts are welcome. For more information feel free to speak with Ted Brakatselos, our Choir Director; you can catch him downstairs during coffee hour or contact our church office for his cell phone number.
