QUANTITIES Curves are non-existent in this site, instead shaped by sharp edges and hard materials. This makes this environment feel harsh and difficult to maneuver around. The colours form a cold environment, with only light brown wood adding warmth to the site. The levels within each set of steps vary in size, affecting how the person moves through the space. The space, therefore, may be perceived as unpredictable.
QUALITIES The space is predominantly concrete, the only minor variances being wood, slats and the organic material in the gardens that dress the space. The wooden, sloping slat structures are arranged in a sequential manner along with the gardens, apart from one outlier.
STRUCTURE The underlying material structure, predominantly concrete, has an invisible steel rod reinforcement checkered across each level. The stairs use bent steel rod, which follow each horizontal and vertical plane.

QUANTITIES Wood, and a lot of it. The decked walkway endures at consistent dimensions, but eventually thickens as the slope inclines and the ‘dune’ becomes fatter and higher, encouraging the viewer to look outward onto Port Phillip Bay.
QUALITIES The size and sloped configuration of the site resembles what could otherwise be a sand dune that merges from the beach. The hollow decking structure makes rebounding sounds when used, especially when walked on by foot or ridden over by bike. The surface appears smooth from a distance, probably due to its gradual slope and wavelike demeanor, but is noticeably rough upon closer examination. This is due to its material makeup; spikey grey, weathered wood.
STRUCTURE The vast, curved deck structure is divided into slanted and flat segments that sweep across the area, gradually leveling to join the boardwalk that snakes along the perimeter of the sand. It then gradually slants down, meeting the sand and the concrete walkway behind.
