PORTFOLIO
Hello, I’m Reuben Joshua Kuriakose, a product design student. I am currently in my 3rd year in MIT institute of Design, Pune. I am an enthusiastic design learner. I am passionate, hardworking and focussed in any task that i perform. I believe that a person can achieve a good design solution only if the process followed is thorough, has a strong technical knowledge and control of certain skill-sets. My portfolio is representation of my skills, learnings and the process followed which are important problem solving technique.
I am looking for a 6-8 week internship starting first week of june 2015

Working principle testing
How to use steam outlet
Step 1: Fill water in the container switch on the product and wait for 30 to 45 seconds for the water to heat and become steam.
For testing the working principle a vaporizer is used for hot steam and a DC motor was used to power a fan which was mounted on top of the vaporizer with the help of a MS rod.
Ergonomic The product is small and economical and can be used anywhere
motor fan
Step 2: The steam comes out through the outlet and vaporizes On the face. Continue this process for 30 seconds.
Validation The prototype was used for validation in terms of its functionality and usability by many students and employees and got a lot of positive feedback.
Step 3: After step 2 the fan on the top starts producing a breeze on the face which cool down the face temperature. Continue this for 30 seconds. Keep alternating between step 2 and 3 every 30 seconds.
Final Render
Trickle uses water and its properties and helps in giving a spa like experience in an instant. It is small and portable and can be used at home, offices or any other desired place as a quick Rejuvenation therapy.

A curator has a number of responsibilities and he/she has to have a set of qualities and skills to fulfill these responsibilities. A curator has to be organised and well managed. The curator uses a laptop for his day to day duties so a laptop becomes a major part of their life. The laptop sleeve is designed keeping in mind the everyday life and the work environment of the curator. Skin is based on the material and texture that the curator interacts with on a daily basis.
Edu-Mate Human machine interface Group of 2 4 weeks
Course Brief To design the interface of a product and enhance the interaction of the user with the interface Description To design a digital teaching aid for students from class 5th to 9th that will grasp the students attention and will break the monotony of textbook
Problem areas Teaching has become very boring and monotonous for both the Teacher and the student Teacher are not provided with the proper resources and aids. students find it difficult to understand the basic concepts with the current teaching technique. User specification
Course learning Human - machine interaction. Importance of visual ergonomics.

Use the thumb to slide out the blade
Description The cutter blade dispenser is made of three parts which fastens by snap fits and locating pins. The form is based on the shape of the blade which makes it easy to dispense blades. Techno-aesthetic Design Group of 2 6 weeks
Course Brief To design a detail which adds a functional, technological and aesthetical value to a product. Description A person approaching a toaster has a very carefree approach towards the product. So a toaster is designed which gives an audio-visual and physical feedback to the user. The lid helps the user to avoid direct contact with the toast and it is Transparent which gives the user visual indication. Key learnings Understanding the working and constrains of a product. Relation between technology and aesthetic
User Group
Problem Statement The user always faces a problem to remove toast as it does not pop up to a sufficient height. It is difficult to remove the toast from a toaster , as it is hot which makes it difficult for a person to remove it immediately. The toaster does not have a lid to cover it when it is not use , which makes it easier for dirt to go inside the toaster.
