ith a tendency to judge people through sound and imagination, certain images pop up when I look at a particular person. In scientific language, this is called earworm. An earworm, sometimes known as a brainwork, sticky music, stuck song syndrome or involuntary musical imagery is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person’s mind after it is no longer playing. With the help of these photographs, I have creates alluringly grotesque portraits of individuals suffocating in sweets for the series. Inspired by my own love/hate relationship with junk food, the project took 15 days to complete, with some of the compositions taking up to six hours to fully stage. Each besprinkled monster is created in an effort to beat the cravings, exploring the deeply unfulfilling process of binge-eating. Beginning with a coloured cream ice-cream and foam, cheese base, the sculpted edibles were often a race against time to maintain. Portraits look like tribal devils of our darker cravings, the overload of colour and candy a visual definition of the words “sickly sweet”

blum, the bespoke shoe brand has a very limited production. The eponymous brand truly believes a person is known by the shoes he wears. Oblum was conceptualised in the year 2016 in London by Tarun Oblum during his time at Cordwainer’s College, London College of fashion. Whilst the dream of being a shoe designer was always present, the move to be a maker was kick-started during his time as a part-time sales representative at one of the world’s best shoemaking house, Crockett & Jones. Oblum is one of the few shoemakers in India that make hand welted shoes. A brand that started in a small workshop with two employees is now home to a team of 11 artisans, most of whom are third generation craftsmen, complementing over a century-old tradition of making handcrafted luxury footwear through our brand’s vision. From celebrities like Lakshmi Manchu to The Sunrisers team of Hyderabad, all have been spotted in Oblum shoes. Also, actor Vijay Deverakonda lists Oblum as his most preferred shoe brand and can often be seen wearing its shoes on various occasions.
But, what are the steps involved? How are the shoes made? Tarun Oblum takes us behind-the-scenes.
Designing a gait
At Oblum, it all starts with the first appointment when the master shoemaker
“Oblum is one of the few shoemakers in India that make hand welted shoes.” and client meet. Bespoke shoemaking requires the dual input of shoemaker and client: soles, lining colour, choice of shoe trees, all is decided during the essential first meeting. Next comes the measuring procedure. Six to 10 measurements are required to grasp the precise morphology, volume, width, and weight-bearing areas of the wearer’s foot.
Last precision to shape up
The last maker chooses hornbeam, a hard, dense wood, from which to gradually sculpt the shape of the shoe with his knife. The last will be smoothed with a rasp and sandpaper. This is a very technical stage which requires great precision in order to ensure that the wooden last respects the morphology of the foot and ensures the shoes shapeliness.
For the love of the leather
Every option is explored to define a unique pair of shoes. The leather is sourced from a 102-year-old tannery based out of Argentina and Italy. It is the rarest and exotic leathers that fit in a pair of gorgeous feet.
a client can judge the fit, room for the foot, and style of the shoe. During this shoemaker notes down the point to be rectified in order to finely adjust the fitting and offer the client a perfect pair of shoes.
Game for it
Various parts are now hand assembled on the wooden last. From the first stage, placing of the shank to stitching of the welt, inspecting cleaning and dressing. In all, some 30-hours of handwork is involved.
Pop of patina
The colourist plays with his dyes and pigments like an artist with his palette to get the exact colour mentioned by the client. He mixes a drop of orange or pink with a red pigment, applies a transparent coating to the tip of the shoe and accentuates the seams using a cotton swab. The patina can then be tortured (enriched with colour gradations), flamed (with light streaks) or cloudy (with smokelike effects). All these techniques can, of course, be applied to the entire shoe, or only to specific areas — on the instep, the vamp, the tip. That is why no two pairs are exactly the same: each one becomes a work of art.
Drive in your heels
After weeks of work, the bespoke is ready to be delivered.
Trial, Error, and Improvement
During the second appointment, the client tries on the prototype created with traditionally made last. This is when

t was back in 2013 when Sobhita Dhulipala won her place in Miss India and today, six years later, she is being applauded for her character as Tara. As she surrounded herself in books and literature, her curiosity to explore everything today made her the heart throb. But, what drover her? We sat with her for a brief conversation and discussed her achievements, her learnings, and a lot more. Excerpts from the interview: From winning Miss India to Made in Heaven; tell us how it all began? It began with curiosity and that curiosity still continues to be my driving force in my work and art. I wanted to explore the beauty industry after my college graduation and took part in Miss India, won, then did modelling for a year and found myself disconnected from those mediums and eventually, through the course of many auditions, discovered a penchant for acting that truly changed me as an individual.
36 reverie may 2019
How was your childhood like? Did it influence you in any way to take up acting? Quite the opposite. I was introverted, still am and found an escape in books and literature of all kinds. I watched a total of 20 movies until my first film, of which eight are Harry Potter! I somehow wasn’t drawn to the medium, now too, I am unable to reduce cinema to just entertainment. Whenever I do watch it, It’s an experience I genuinely tune in to, just like with reading or travel or writing. Your character, Tara portrayed someone who is constantly dreaming and aiming for big; someone who wanted a better life for herself. Was there any point during the making that you were able to relate to the character? Emotions are universal, there is bound to be a common thread between everybody. Having said that, I know I’m not as unapologetic. What did you learn from Anurag Kashyap and Zoya Akhtar as an actor? We are a product of the experiences we have had and the experiences we want to have. Working with these two creative forces revalidated the importance of staying authentic to my own character. Your sense of fashion in real life and in reel life; both are very much known so, what according to you fashion is? Style to me is the conversation that begins before any words are exchanged.I do take a keen interest in fashion, I see it as a medium of expression - of who I think I may be.

What are some of your pro fashion tips to beat the heat? Cottons. Whites. Country music. We’ve read that you like to read so, what are some of your favourite books and which one are you currently reading? I read all kinds of books and have a special affinity for mythology and political dramas. I’m currently reading Naguib Mahfouz’s essays on Art, Literature and History : Volume-1. Check out my book recommendation section in my Instagram bio! With each of your character, do you feel that you get to learn new things? All the time. Being a rather quiet person has allowed me to pay attention and be observant. Not just with characters but in everyday life too. And with regards to characters, it is liberating to live in another person’s shoes even if it is for a brief while. I certainly have been impacted by the people I have played. Are there any specific roles that you are looking forward to playing? I would love to do a historical film, sports dramas are very thrilling too.
"
I wanted to be an economist before the whole frenzy began, during my school and college days.
"
How long did you wait for this success? Was there a time when your patience took off? I’m most affected during the process of shooting, never during release. I’m very emotionally invested in my character and I don’t burden myself with trade responsibilities.
What do you think about social media? With people trolling in, creating memes; do you think it has become a part of Bollywood now? To be honest, I value my time too much to be bogged down by uninformed opinions or unfunny jokes. If not an actor, then? I wanted to be an economist before the whole frenzy began, during my school and college days. Now, I gravitate towards writing a lot more. One advice that you have received and would like to pass it on. ‘When Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?’

On skin, off skin
What went behind Ink Ragnar? How did the two founders meet? We sat down for a brief conversation with them and here’s the result.

nk Ragnar is a contemporary tattoo space, driven by the idea of individuality and creative excellence. From small spontaneous tattoos to large-scale bodywork, the artists will work with you one on one and offer a wide variety of tattooing styles that are sure to transform your ideas into custom, unique and personal tattoos.
Kishor Sanduptla, who completes 10 yrs in tattooing across India started as a self-taught artist and has been inking since 2009. With hands-on expertise on charcoal sketching, sculpting, and tattooing, he shifted to tattooing from a desk-job and realised that by inking someone gives him the job satisfaction that a desk-job can never give. He always wanted to do something that sets him apart from other artists and which is when he went on for Guinness Book of World Records in July 2014 and did 851 tattoos in 24 hrs. Arijeet Mukherjee, his partner is a software engineer working from the past nine years in the IT industry. As a child, he started to sketch and then for 10 years found himself not even touching the pencil and sketch pad which is when the gap made him think and one fine day in office, he thought to give it a try again. He started sketching and it came out pretty well which further motivated him.
Tattoo
Initially, tattooing was something that he had never thought of. He remembers, as a child, he used to sit alongside his father and watch bikers with big tattoos in English films and that used to fascinate him. This later then provoked him in class five to ask his parents about getting one on himself. Finally, at the age of 17, he got his first tattoo and today, he is the owner of 17 tattoos. As he followed a lot of tattoo artists over social media, the thought occurred to him that maybe, he should too try his hand at tattooing. His friends were thrilled with the idea and so was he. The only setback was, there were not enough training schools in Hyderabad. In a few months, he found himself training with Kishor where he spent three months and since then, there has been no looking back. Now, both of them together travel to different cities and now its been two years into the journey.

Estee Lauder Day Wear Multi Protection Anti Oxidant 24H Moisture Creme
68 reverie may 2019
If you are someone who has started to notice some early aging signs, then this cream will sort you out. This moisturiser will help in improving the appearance of fine lines and dullness. Not just this, but it also comforts your skin and refreshes the skin with long lasting hydration. Meant for normal to combination skin, its a light moisturiser that is also infused with SPF 15. What we loved about this moisturiser was that it was so lightweight and it absorbed quickly. Post application, we
noticed that our skin was smooth and supple and did not leave any residue. While the moisturiser is rich in anti-oxidants, we also loved the fact that it spread out easily and no matter the skin type, it did not show any adverse effect. However, only thing that concerns us was the fragrance. Though the fragrance is light, we felt it could have been fragrance-free. Priced at `3,500/- we feel giving it a try is not bad!

Sephora High Coverage Concealer
t ou de si
Available in 15 different shades, this concealer by Sephora can be your go-to product, easily. Perfect for concealing dark circles and blurring out imperfections, get ready to bid good-bye to tired face. Although the product promises high coverage, we felt that the product medium coverage but guess what? The texture is weightless and it does provide finish that is really natural. Plus, it doesn’t give cakes effect neither creases which is the best part. The product is enriched with revitalising avocado and evening primrose oils that will ensure that the skin is well nourished and the concealer doesn’t appear worn out. Standing true to its claim, the concealer does provide 10 hour long wear. It’s easy to apply and the packaging too is quite hassle-free. But, are we buying it again? Not too sure. Priced at `1,600/- we think at this price point, we can consider other concealers too.
Make up Forever Matte Velvet Skin Compact
At first, we were really excited to try this on and of course, there are plenty of reasons why we were. Firstly, the brand really does what it promises and secondly, we were trying a mattifying skin compact. So, this foundation claims to wrap your skin and act like a second skin that will help hide any blemishes. And guess what? It succeeds. As we started to apply, we instantly started to notice the difference. We felt less of imperfections and there were no visible pores. So, kudos for this! Also, we gathered that the formula is quite breathable, our skin did not feel suffocated and we did not feel a heavy layer on our face. We suggest, apply the product using sponge rather than a brush for a perfect matte finish. Also, the product comes in 30 different shades so, you don’t have to worry about looking for your shade. Although, there was one major con that we faced which was about the longevity. We felt we would have to re-apply in every four hours, which surely we really don’t want to do. Also, is it worth the price? Priced at `4,000/- we guess, it is worth it!

Bobbi Brown Insta Detox Mask
Well, Bobbi Brown is one such brand that will never disappoint you and which is why, we expected way too much with this product. We had heard a lot about it until we finally decided to try it on. It’s a clay mask which is required to be applied thinly over your face and needs to be washed off in fourfive minutes. And what do you get in return? A tan-free, smooth skin. Does it deliver what it says? Yes it does. Made with a purifying formula, this mask will help you deep cleanse your skin. It removes impurities, pollutants, excess oil from the skin and the

This tinted BB cream can be your rescue for the days you don’t wish to apply makeup or the days you are finding difficult tackling your under eye circles. Enriched with SPF 30, the cream will also make sure that your skin is protected from harmful UVA rays and not just this, but the slender body makes it perfect for our makeup pouch. plus point is, it is suitable for all skin types. It is a blend of Hawaiisan Sea Water and mineral rich Amazonian White Clay that helps our skin achieving the result. Apart from the positive results, we also loved the fact that it comes in a tube form and not in a tub which is really hassle-free and you dispense the quantity you want to use. However, the only drawback that we felt was after patting our skin dry post application and removal of mask, our skin felt really dry and needed moisturiser. Priced at `3,950/- we thought, it’s a good detox mask but aren’t there plenty others?
satisfied on how easily our blemishes were covered up as we put on the cream. We tried it both ways: Without foundation and with foundation as a base. Honestly, we liked both the ideas but certainly the cream works if you wish to go ahead without foundation too. These vegan creams are available in five different shades which is a bummer because its not necessary that everyone would match up in the shades. The product is available at a price of `1,295/- which we wouldn’t mind paying considering it settled well, it was nongreasy and stayed good for approximately seven hours.
were already big Givenchy fansWe of Le Rouge lipstick when Givenchy came Le Rouge and up with liquid blur-effect Liquide matte liquid lipstick, we couldn’t contain our Lipstick surely excitement. With good changes made, as your twist the applicator, you would notice the creamy texture and as you apply, you would also gather its finish which is semi matte but also long lasting. Although, its not very transfer-proof but keeping that aside, we liked how it glided well on our lips. We are not too sure about the mechanism though. It did excite us but its difficult to control as to how much we really want on our lips and once the cream is out, you obviously can’t transfer it back. The shades have a nice sheen and are nicely pigmented. Available at `2,600/- we feel we wouldn’t mind buying it again but we guess, we might reconsider our decision.

Sheer Performance, sans bells and whistles In the midst of a highly anticipated launch, and fanfare, OnePlus launched their 7 Pro. But is it still the Flagship killer that made it a fan favourite? W ords

et’s get one thing straight – the OnePlus Seven Pro has been thought out and designed keeping blazing fast performance in mind. Period. If it is not at the cutting edge of technology, and if it does not contribute to a better user experience, you will not find it on the phone. Not surprisingly then, this is also the most expensive phone that OnePlus has ever made. However, what is still surprising is the price point at which the brands still manages to function, and more importantly, manages to hold on to its key user base. For even though the 7 Pro is getting uncomfortably close to the Samsung’s flagships in terms of price, they still offer better value for money and specs-to-price ratio. There are three key areas where the OnePlus 7 Pro really shines, that will make any tech journalist worth his salt, rave on and on about the phone. Namely, they are the display, the speed of right about everything, and, considering OnePlus’ optics history, its camera. There is no other way of saying this – OnePlus has somehow managed to beat a certain Korean manufacturer in its own game. Historically, OnePlus has always provided displays that have been just adequate. They always got the job done, but, would fail to blow users and even their fans out of the water. This time however, they have hit the ball out of the park. It has a 90hz 1140p OLED display. This translates to some really great and punchy colours and an awesome, dynamic content consumption. Watching videos and playing games on this device is a blissful experience. Even though the colours may tend to appear a little over saturated, and high on contrast, they are so pleasing to the eye that it almost becomes normal after a certain point of time. OnePlus has also managed to cram as much display in to the front surface as today’s technology would allow. Therefore, it is quite safe to say that this is the first, truly complete bezel-less display that we have seen. At 6.67 inches, it is on the larger side, however. So make sure that you get a good case for the phone. The next thing that really sets the OnePlus 7 Pro apart is its speed. Being a flagship device, it of course has the latest and greatest internals that any manufacturer can provide. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 855, 256 GB of flash storage and 8 or 12 gigs of RAM. That is more than what many professional grade laptops offer. Everything has been customized to give users a sense of blazing fast performance and speed. The specifications, coupled with the high refresh rate screen give a great user experience. Be it hardcore gaming or light content creation, like editing videos or photos, nothing that we threw at the device would put a dent on its performance. In the past couple of years one aspect that was the sore point for a lot of OnePlus devices was the camera. Saying that they did not age well, would be an understatement. The OnePlus 7 Pro has the same triple camera set up that we have seen from a number of other manufacturers. It has a 48 MP f1.6 wide lens, and a 16 MP, f2.2 ultrawide lens, both with OIS and a 8 MP telephoto lens. The front camera, a 16 MP f2.0 one, is now housed in a motorised chamber and pops up from the top. Although spec wise the cameras seem great and should be able to hold a candle to the latest iPhones and Pixels, there are some issues that really let it down. There were issues with the exposures; it also tends to flatten the image and kill the details under low light. The wide and the ultrawide cameras were very soft as compared to the main camera. As of writing this review, OnePlus had announced that they will be releasing an update patch that will sort a number of
“OnePlus Seven Pro has been thought out and designed keeping blazing fast performance in mind.” issues. However, that remain to be seen. There are a number of other issues as well. The motorised pop up camera, seems fragile and like al moving components in a modern smartphone has a very specific and in this case a short life. Don’t expect to take a lot selfies if you want this phone to last longer. Also, since the specifications of the Pro 7 are nothing short of a beast, this device is power hungry. Sadly, the 4000mAh battery that it comes with is just adequate and will last only about a day with regular usage. Furthermore, OnePlus decided to skip the wireless charging capabilities with the phone. The saving grace for this is the fast charging or what OnePlus calls, Warp Charging. It can give users half a day’s worth of juice in under 15 minutes. That almost makes up for the lack of wireless charging capabilities. All things considered though, we have to say, that OnePlus 7 Pro is a great specimen of how technology has evolved to make really great phones cheaper. At 48,999 for the 6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage model, it is priced rather aggressively. Also, consider that when India is finally ready for 5G mobile connectivity, people with the OnePlus 7 Pro will be ready to hitch their ride to ultrafast mobile connectivity.

So, Tell Us How Did You Start? Our first ever build was a hybrid vehicle to enter a competition which also served as our major project. Our college was supportive in providing us the machinery and the lab but we had to finance and make the car on our own. This pushed us to do research more, understand automobiles and it also gave us a new perspective and a purpose. After graduation, as an experiment, we customised a Honda Dio and named it KIBO which translates to hope in the Japanese language. It was a hit and a lot of people were ready to give us orders. KIBO gave us hope and a kickstart for our workshop dedicated to customising bikes.
What was the concept behind the MMW? MMW (Majesty Moto Works ) is a brainchild of Satwinder and Maria Dass. Like most of the mechanical engineering students, we had a passion to do something in the field of Automobiles but the lack of opportunity left us questioning if we did the right thing by taking up Mechanical engineering. This led us to collaborate with two of our teammates Rohith and Vishal who we worked with during the making of our hybrid vehicle. They were in the same dilemma as we were and shared the same passion for automobiles which made our dream child a reality in the form of Majesty Moto Works.
What Inspired you? As kids, we used to watch discovery Turbo, a tv show based on modifying and customising automobiles. This made our fascination grow in bikes and cars. It also triggered a curiosity towards bikes and how they are made the way they are. Satwinder as a teenager always tried to modify or do something different from his
father’s bike ( which sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t). Satwinder found three other people who share the same curiosity, enthusiasm, and fascination for bikes. But as students, we could not afford to get our bikes modified as it costed us a bomb. This inspired us to start a one of a kind workshop dedicated to modifying and customising bikes at an affordable price and yet give it a luxurious finish and quality.
What makes you guys different from others in the market? While everyone looks at the experience we are a group of young entrepreneurs with an average age of 24 years who are driven to give the best results. It usually takes six-nine months to completely customise a bike, We, on the other hand, deliver the same quality within 4 months at the maximum. We take limited orders so we can deliver the best and in the promised time. Our designs are Innovative and different. With us it’s not what we customise, instead, it is about how good we are at customising. We focus on every little detail that not just completes the customisation, but perfects it. We work with the customers closely, and fully involve them during the process. We also offer free servicing and warranty to the customised parts. We are also working towards implementing IOT as a part of our customisation.
How do you guys divide your work or role? We are a team of four people i.e Maria Dass who has an artistic brain and does all the things related to making the designs for the bikes as per the customer’s instructions or otherwise. Satwinder Singh gives life to the designs by taking care of the fabrication of the vehicles. Rohith Miryalkar on the hand takes care of the finances and marketing (he has his way with people). Vishal Jadhav makes sure to procure the necessary material and equipment required. Keeping the individual roles aside we all come together to give a new look and life to the design. Like they say, once you make a friend
always a friend; our friends come and help us out at the workshop occasionally.
Tell us about KIBO and Cafe Racer ?. Our first built, our Dream come true is KIBO: Building Kibo was a great experience we didn’t have a dedicated workshop, so we had to build it at one of our friend’s houses. We used to visit our local garages and borrow equipment. It took us three months to complete the build but there was a lot of work that needed to be done. And then we rented a shop to start our workshop completely dedicated to bike customisation. Here we wanted to build something big and powerful. we started our new project with Royal Enfield Building KIBO gave us the confidence to venture into something more powerful and unique, we were ready to take our chances and challenges: Royal Enfield bikes inspired us to create a unique and retro-styled cafe racer. It was challenging to turn a classic 350 to a cafe racer. We had to design the whole chassis and respectively. we had to Used some golden rules that are needed to design a cafe racer. And then it was about the wheels, where we decided to go for 17-inch ones rather than the usual 18-inch ones to give it a good looking stance. We had to put a jack shaft to transfer the chain drive from right to left, to keep the build clean They were again a few challenging things we had to hide the battery box and the wiring,We added a wooden piece on top of the fuel tank to give it a luxury and a new look for bike. Overall the build was challenging and gave us new perspectives while constructing the bike

and trust us, while you take a cab or any other public transportation, you are not going to face any problem.
Pods
At first, the idea of a pod might scare you but everything tones down once you settle in. Catering to newage travellers, the idea of boutique pod hotel was formed in the minds of young entrepreneurs who wished to create something new for the society. Not only the design of the pod is stylish but modern and minimal and trust us, you are not going to compromise on your comfort or quality of services. The hotel has around 140 pods to offer and are divided into different categoriesmixed pods for males and females with
common washroom, suite pods, private pods and ladies exclusive pods. And what do you get in pods? Well, its a comfortable space where you have your personal TV, charging sockets, air conditioning, headphones, and enough space to sleep with wide arms. If in any case, you are looking for convenient and fuss-free living, you’ve found the space.
Food & Services
While hotel has a cafe which serves limited but delicious menu, you also have
an option to order food and have it in the comfort of your space. They also serve buffet breakfast which is indeed, yet another plus point. For obvious reasons, you certainly can’t take the food inside your pods (which
“If in any case, you are looking for convenient and fuss-free living, you’ve found the space.” should be respected) considering the amount of hygiene the place takes care about. You also cannot take your slippers in (which is the best part) and it certainly showers you with homely environment. At the front desk and care takers, they are all ready to help whenever you need them. There’s free wifi and they also provides cab facilities, should you require. You only need to let them know in advance and everything will be sorted!
Pricing
Well, considering the amount of facilities it provides, the pricing is fair and square. Their classic pods start at INR 650 with suite pods going up to `2500.
We rate this property a 4.5/5.

talian cuisine has charmed the rest of the world for quite some time now with its never-ending assortment of mouth-watering delicacies. From crispy bruschettas to creamy risottos, the inventors of pasta have left behind a tall legacy to relish. While several popular restaurants around the city claim to serve authentic Italian food, only a few deliver. Prego at The Westin can be easily called one of the best choices for a great Italian meal. The plush and vibrant interiors are a welcoming sight themselves as the staff cordially seat you to the lively Italian beats playing in the background. The meal starts off with a refreshing mint and basil mocktail and Prego’s signature whole wheat bread with tangy tomato dip that is offered to all guests to savour before their order arrives. Next step is the antipasti or the appetiser. The appetisers include a range of freshly made bruschetta, vegetable-laden bread loaves to the most ordered fritters. However, we suggest, try the chef’s special garlic bread to get a taste of what lies ahead. The antipasti is then followed by the Primi Piatti which is the part of the meal that works the appetite for the main course. It traditionally consists of freshly made pasta or ravioli. (Go for the range of pasta baked in the wood-fired oven for enhanced taste experience). The Chicken and Ricotta Tortellini with white mushroom truffle ragu are a must have for all meat lovers. The tender chicken layered with an exceptional mushroom sauce is something that would keep you wanting for more.

Then comes the main course. Try the Brodetto (Seafood stew with garlic croutons) or the Osobucco (slow-cooked lamb shank, shallots, saffron risotto or gremolata) for a filling meal. Just in case, you wish to opt for something light, there is Chicken Piccata served with mashed potato and tomato and pepper sauce. With this, Chef Bhandari explains to us how various dips could help in enhancing the flavour. “Balsamic vinegar is placed at every table for the flavour to pop out. Like wine, the taste develops more and more with passing time,” he explains. Towards the end, the chef’s signature cassata ice cream will act as a perfect ending to a great movie. So, we suggest, next time you crave for an Italian meal that offers a flavourable experience and a fresh perspective, head to Prego.
