Facebook Algorithm Update

What is the Facebook algorithm update? After updating the Facebook algorithm, a statement was made by Facebook saying, “Our top priority is keeping you connected to the people, places and things you want to be connected to — starting with the people you are friends with on Facebook.” This means Facebook would rather show it’s users photos and updates from their Facebook friends rather than posts from other pages, such as businesses and companies trying to promote themselves. So, what does this mean for you and your business? Traffic is going down hill. Essentially, the traffic of posts from the Facebook pages of businesses will decline. The posts will appear less on people’s timelines, making it harder for users to see your advertisements. This, of course, is a reason to worry for companies that rely on

platforms like Facebook for most of their web traffic. But, not all posts from businesses and media organizations will be less likely to show up in news feeds; news posts shared by your friends will still show up at the top of your feed. Saving your business. If you are one of the many companies relying on Facebook to boost your traffic, then you know you might be in trouble. Your new strategy in getting traffic needs to focus around getting shares and likes. As we mentioned before, news posts shared by your friends will still show up at the top of your feed. So, getting your posts shared by others is how you keep your Facebook presence floating. Other options. There’s always another way. If your business relies on social media to boost the traffic, then you can consider using other social media platforms. Facebook isn’t the only option for your company. Try using twitter, instagram, pinterest, etc. to boost your traffic. New benefits come with each option, such as new audiences. Different platforms come with different people!
