Efficacy of Contec Disinfectants Regarding Coronavirus-Wuhan (COVID-19)
As you are likely aware, the recent discovery and spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus-Wuhan (COVID-19) is currently the subject of an active CDC investigation. U.S. authorities have asked U.S. citizens to refrain from travel to China. To date (as of January 31, 2020), there are over 9,500 confirmed cases that have resulted in approximately 213 deaths. The majority of cases are in China; however, there are confirmed cases in other countries including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, France, Germany and the US. The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared this outbreak a global emergency. In anticipation of questions from our valued customers regarding the efficacy of our disinfectants as relates to the COVID-19, we are providing the following summary of our proprietary chemistries and their known performance against this pathogen and similar enveloped viruses. In short, several of our EPAregistered, U.S. formulations including PREempt®, and the newly released intermediate disinfectant, CyQuanol™, should prove effective when used in accordance with their labeling against the recently identified COVID-19 and similar enveloped strains of coronavirus.
