WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER Greetings and Welcome to the In Lakesh way of life! What an incredible pleasure and privilege it is to connect with you today as we release our first issue of In Lakesh Magazine. Our mission is simple: to nurture a sense of empowerment within, to create greater unity among people, and of course, entertain along the way. It is our belief that when we feel good, we do good. Therefore, every month, via a particular theme we will present stories that will inspire, positive articles that will motivate, lifestyle content that will be uplifting, beautiful photography, inspiring videos, short films and so much more. Creating this magazine has been such a blessing for me; I have met incredible people that I now consider friends, from all over the world. Not only have they contributed content, but have also shared their talents, resources and most importantly embraced our cause and mission with open arms!
For the month of June and as a first theme, it was obvious that we should entertain the concept of UNITY. With everything going on in the world, we could all use a little inspiration to enhance our experiences on a daily basis. Our wish is that you will allow yourself enough time every month to reconnect with yourself and all that is good within. I am truly excited to take on this journey with all of you. Always remember, I am you, you are me, and we are ONE. Sending you many blessings, much love,

I am Tiolu, a girl from Nigeria with a dream and heart to love against the odds. It is a privilege to be a part of In Lakesh Magazine and such an honor to be able to connect with all of you. It is my hope that as we go on this journey together we will find inspiration and guidelines to help mold us into who we want to be for ourselves and then to the world. Love makes my world go round. I know I am an imperfect person, but my heart forever yearns for love in all its beauty and creation. Everywhere around me, through the vile and the vice of life, and experiences, I always want to see an opportunity to love, to create something beautiful through art in whatever form it executes itself.

A LETTER OF HOPE AND LOVE TO MY SON By
Maryanne
Barnard
What an incredible privilege it is to be able to share my story with you in the hopes that it will ignite a spark within and perhaps help you ease into a greater appreciation of your life and experiences. My name is Maryanne. I currently reside in Canada but was born in South Africa where I spent most of my childhood and teenage years. As a little girl, living in a third world country I experienced many traumatic events and truly had to overcome hardships that no one should have to. Because of what I went through, I was an angry person and hated life. I couldn't understand what I had done wrong to be treated in such a way over and over again. Although I had wonderful parents that loved me, it seemed that beyond this loving circle of people, I would find myself continuously victimized.

I was hurt, sad and I detested everything. My heart was broken, and I was emotionally depleted. Or so I thought. Eventually, I just surrendered. I knew that I had two options; sit and wallow in self-pity for the rest of my life or let go of all my negative emotions and reclaim my power. I chose the latter and took on a new mindset.
08
I think that becoming a mother was one of the most healing experiences I have ever had. Children are so pure, kind and loving. As a parent, protecting this innocent little person and caring for someone else, is such an incredibly humbling experience. The love that I see in my son's eyes is what keeps me going every day. Motherhood gave me a

purpose and a reason for living again. It is only upon reflection in the last few years that I realized how strong I am and how resilient I have become. Today I understand, whatever you go through in life, you always have a choice in how you perceive these moments. That choice is what defines the quality of life you are going to have. It takes a strong person to realize you are not a reflection of someone else's deceptions or actions. You are what you believe yourself to be. I firmly believe now that kindness, acceptance, and understanding are all part of the solution for creating greater uniting of people. It is my wish for the future, for my son, for my family, for my friends and for all of you. As I share this personal letter that I wrote to my beautiful, amazing son, I hope it will inspire you and perhaps fill your heart with love and joy.

My dear son Joshua, First and foremost I must express my love and gratitude for you. I am doing my best to teach you right from wrong, to be kind and understanding and to instill good morals in you.

Although I would love to say I am raising you right, I cannot take all the credit as it is you who chooses to follow my teachings, regardless of the circumstance you find yourself in. You have the kindest heart I have ever known. It is amazing to me, how at such a young age you sympathize with others so easily and naturally. While I am aware that it is I who taught you to be gentle to others, what inspires me the most about you is the fact that you have embodied these lessons and made them a part of you. It is in my opinion, one of the purest and most sincere characteristics one can possess.

I must warn you, though, this world that we live in may prove to be harsh at times, and you may feel defeated on occasion. Facing obstacles is inevitable my love, but if you keep the faith and believe that everything has its reason for happening, each hurdle that you face will bring you where you need to be. Mommy started her life lost and confused, enduring a lot of suffering. Despite my struggles, I can honestly say today; I am who I am because of what I went through.

I have come a long way to be able to be in a place of love and teach you to be the best that you can be. Embrace life my love, and know the right path is often the hardest, but it is worth it, trust in your mommy. Don't take the easy way out and try to be the person I know you are meant to be. No one is perfect, and failing is part of the journey, just remember to get back up and try again until you reach your goals and achieve all your dreams. The world needs more people like you, my love. I want you to know, most of all, that I will support, love and protect you as long as I can with every ounce of my being because you are my baby and always will be. I woke up in my little bunk bed so excited to see how much snow had fallen overnight. It was unbelievable. The ground was covered in what I imagined was ten feet of snow. I ran to my mom and dad’s room and grabbed my dad‘s arm and started jumping up and down with excitement. “Dad there is snow everywhere. Can we go out, please, please, please.” We were about 2,300 kilometers from the North Pole, living in a frigid little village called Igloolik on the northwest side of the Northern Passage. I was five years old and was fascinated by the world that I was just beginning to explore and comprehend. Here begins the story of a fascinating young man named Anthony Legroulx. I was born in Ottawa, Ontario to a young married couple named Luc and Gillian Legroulx. I was special right from the beginning, being born with a mixture of two entirely different ethnical backgrounds and a captivating look that most described as unique and adorable. I was a blonde boy with tight curly locks and a skin tone that was a creamy chestnut color. The Inuit

I had just turned eight years old, and my dad was just beginning to show me the ropes on how to run a farm. On this farm is where I learned to work hard for what I wanted and that nothing in life comes without first putting in a substantial amount of work.

While coaching I was able to teach the soccer players teamwork, determination, and the concept of opportunity. I also had one more passion while growing up, though I may not have known it at the time, my love for the infrastructure in large cities and the complexities of civil works would become more than just a passion, it would become a defining career. My father encouraged me to use my imagination and creativity at a young age, and eventually, this compelled me to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. I recently graduated from the University of Ottawa and am working on one of our city’s largest infrastructure projects to date. How exciting!

A STORY OF STRENGTH AND LOVE
AN ASPIRING WRITER SHARES HOW GRIEVING THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE MADE HER STRONGER. By

Growing up, Marissa was a happy child. She was sweet, kind and smiling all the time. Her mother Claudette was a petite and loving woman who truly dedicated herself to raising five girls on her own: Melanie, Michaelle, Marissa, Melinda, and Mariana. The love they had for each other was incredible. They truly were a happy family.
16
Although they spent part of their childhood with their mother, at the age of four, due to unforeseen circumstances, Marissa and her older sister moved with their father who had remarried. Their home was so different. It was hard, especially for Marissa to adjust to a colder and a harsher way of life. “No cuddles, no I love you, no affection and no encouraging words spoken.” Her most challenging relationship was with her stepmom. This woman was strict and very critical of the girls, especially Marissa for some reason. Perhaps they had good intentions in raising “proper” young ladies, but the way they went about it seemed cruel at times. “Although the sisters were supportive of each other, they also had to adjust to living with other siblings.” In Marissa’s view, her stepbrother was extremely spoiled. He would call his mother vulgar names when he wouldn’t get his way, yet suffered no consequences for it. That appeared inappropriate to Marissa, who tried so much to fit in, but

never seemed able to. Under these circumstances, and with a broken heart missing her mother tremendously, Marissa entered her teen years angry scared and sad. She wasn’t allowed to see her mom as she pleased and felt threatened when she would bring up the subject. Could she have been brainwashed into believing her mother no longer wanted her and her sister? All these emotions were brewing at the surface, and Marissa had to release them. Writing became her saving grace, mostly using poetry to ease her pain. At the tender age of 14, she was finally able to go live with her mom again, although she was happy and relieved, her soul felt tainted. She wasn’t the same person anymore. The years that followed were very strenuous as

Regardless of how young she was when she became a mother, no parent should ever suffer the pain that comes with burying a child. For the following ten years, Marissa became depressed and couldn’t get rid of the guilt that had permanently embodied her. Although the cause of death proved to

To have known a love so pure and to have lost it so quickly was unbearable. At the burial, Marissa sat there staring at the little white coffin and seemed lifeless herself. Regardless of her incredible support system, she felt alone. All she wanted to do was close her eyes and hope she would wake up from this dream state. But every time she would open them, all she would feel was the intensity of the nightmare she was living.

Marissa was struggling to find herself again. “Her love of writing had grown immensely; she wanted to become a journalist and aspired to write a book about her life story.” But her incredible story was still unfolding before her eyes. At the age of seventeen, Marissa became a mother of a beautiful boy she named Nikolas. At nine pounds and four ounces, this little miracle had sprung into her life as a gift from the heavens. “Marissa had finally found a purpose; she had become an independent woman and mother.”

be SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), a mother always wonders if she could have done more to save her baby.

Marissa’s dream of becoming a writer was no longer relevant. “Her new passion became finding ways to mend her sorrow.” She turned to drugs and alcohol; she quit school and wanted to disappear. She would contemplate suicide but somehow could never go through the process of it. She attended a few meetings with grieving families, but she wasn’t ready to deal with her pain. Her whole life became a blur. She was distant with her relatives and lost most of her friends. Marissa had no control over herself, yet, her desire to live a happy, fulfilling life was still impending. Could it be that an angel named Nikolas was carrying
her through her grief, knowing how amazing and extraordinary a human being she was? After all, he had lived inside of her for more than eight months, embodying her joy, her comfort, her love, her strength, her compassion and her tenderness. “Could he be her saving grace guiding her back into a state of awareness and self-love?” Now that a decade had passed, in an attempt to get herself out of her funk, she started working in a hair salon prepping towels, washing hair and doing any odd jobs that were required. “She wasn’t aware at the time the impact this job would have and how this environment would become a catalyst for change in her life.” Her coworkers did not know much about Marissa other than that she

Eventually, she met a man named Fabrizio. He too was a hairdresser. “He was gentle and kind with a mysterious flair.” She would always smile in his presence and felt secure when he was around. Marissa certainly wasn’t looking for a long term relationship, but there was something compelling about him that was attractive to her. At first, he became a mentor, then a best friend and eventually, a lover. They were inseparable. He was attentive and sensitive to her needs and he became her rock as the calendar would roll around the days
My name is Melissa, and I AM MARISSA. As I put pen and paper to share some of my most intimate thoughts with you, I had one goal in mind: to inspire! “I want you to know that no matter what you are facing today, you are not alone.” I think about my son Nikolas all that time and wonder what he would have wanted me to learn from this tragedy. The one lesson that keeps coming back to me is to “follow my dreams and write my heart out!” No matter what obstacle you may face, remember always to be strong, be kind to yourself, be positive, be happy, smile to everyone you encounter and treat others as you would want to be treated. Live every day as if it were your last and be grateful for the people and things that surround you as they may not be there tomorrow. “Life is but an incredible yet short journey that can be beautiful and fulfilling if you believe in yourself and your dreams. Never forget that.” Much love, Melissa Forest
MAGAZINE
As others revealed their life experiences, slowly but surely Marissa started letting her guard down and willfully invited them into her world. It became a means for healing and allowed her to create such a special bond with them. Marissa was finding happiness again. Hairdressing was not just about hair; it was about making a connection with people.
Eventually, she rediscovered her love for writing, only this time, her words were meant for others. She felt compelled to share her story in the hopes that someone would read through all the adversity she faced and recognize that “it too shall end” for them, as it eventually did for her. The light at the end of the tunnel is always there; it is perhaps simply the direction in which we are looking that allows us to see it or not.

Style, fashion, and trend were such a foreign concept to Marissa that she had to act knowledgeable to fit in. More than seven years past and in that time, she, herself became a talented and beloved hairdresser. “She started making individual connections with her clients, and it slowly opened her heart again.” You see, a hair salon is not just a place to get your hair done; it is also a confessional or similar to a psychologist’s office. HOW I LEARNED THE IMPORTANCE OF HELPING EACH OTHER AND WORKING TOGETHER. By

Since I was a child, I’ve always been taught to lend a helping hand to those in need. I would hear a lot of stories about the kind hearts my grandparents possessed, and would also witness the actions of my parents in their goodwill towards others, which had a profound impact on me growing up. In our household, kindness wasn’t an option; it was a way of life. With origins from Ireland and Scotland, our family had defined itself throughout many generations as hardworking and devoted people which shaped who I am and how I see myself. I always strive to have a positive outlook on the world and those around me wherever I go.

My name is Thomas; I’m currently a post-secondary student of Human Rights and Global Affairs. Aside from my studies, I also pride myself in the volunteer work I do such as fundraising for my student’s association and in my community. I am the type of person who likes to keep busy and active. I enjoy doing sports like skiing, running, and biking. Thanks to my family I have been involved in a variety of different activities since I was a kid, from hockey to rock climbing, to martial arts and continue to look at fitness as an essential part of my identity. Although I can say I've had a pretty good life so far and have been blessed with a great family, I have struggled and

experienced failure like everybody else. I guess perhaps what might make me different to a certain extent is the way I've managed it all. I’m naturally quite optimistic and confident. I firmly believe keeping a hopeful outlook on life is what has kept me happy even through hard times. I also recognize a good opportunity when I see one. For instance, becoming a model for Power Model Management was not something I decided because of my ego. I only chose to associate myself with enlightening people and groups. Just like sports nurtures gamesmanship, what I found with this modeling agency was their yearning to do business in a compassionate way. I felt I could learn something in that environment, and I am so happy for taking that chance. In the same breath, I also recognized In Lakesh Magazine’s mission and how

they wish to inspire people from all over the globe. I feel blessed to be part of this project. I also realize what a gift it is to be able to connect with other positive thinkers that aspire to make the world a better place. How incredibly amazing to know so many of us care about the cause of unity. It is time for us to recognize the humanity that exists within each of us, that we are one and the same, and that we all need to cooperate towards a common goal of equality and kindness. My hope as you read through many personal stories every month is that you find even some type of commonality with each of them, even in the smallest way. It is only through this kind of connection that we can move forward. It is our choice to consider what we have in common versus what makes us different. Wouldn’t you agree?

A MAN'S INCREDIBLE JOURNEY TO THE DISCOVERY OF HIS LIFE PURPOSE By

Being asked to tell my story, at first, seemed to be a simple task. However, while looking back at the various experiences I’ve had, I realized how far I have come to be the man I am today. I was born with a pretty severe case of pigeon toe; which means my feet angled inward when I walked. It prevented me from running and participating in sports early in my life. My family was also rather poor which resulted in unflattering lunches and inexpensive or hand-me-down clothing. To me, these factors were quite irrelevant as I was overall a jubilant child. But to other kids my age, it was different. In school, I was bullied and tormented by my classmates.

I am not making excuses for their actions, as they were wrong, but I could see, even at that age that things could always be worse. Thankfully my immediate and extended family helped me realize that life had more to offer beyond these immediate struggles. I learned so many lessons from my parents who both worked very hard to give us the best they could afford. Although poverty had its downside, I understood the value of hard work and the importance of family and friends above all else. At the age of twelve, I suffered the loss of my grandfather, whom I adored immensely. Not only was he a mentor to

I can remember watching him in his acts of kindness, and later on, in life would be reminded of the importance of nurturing this sense of service towards others. CREATING UNITY AND HARMONY BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR CLOSET! Brazeau
In the context of art and literature, unity refers to “the relation of all the parts of a harmonious whole producing a single general effect.” In other words, each article of clothing you wear should come together to create a look that exudes a feeling. To achieve a sense of pure joy and confidence, you must first focus on the pieces that you already love and make you feel fabulous. Don’t get confused with the loose comfy items you wear when you are laying on the couch, but rather the articles of clothing that fit and compliment your body. These items will be the basis of your new wardrobe. Think of a great pair of jeans, a good t-shirt, a crisp, classy dress shirt or a gorgeous sweater that transcends time. Go through every article of clothing that you have and ask yourself: Do I love it? Do I feel good about it? Does it fit? Will it take me through more than one season? Make sure to keep the pieces that make you happy and generate a positive feeling. And with that thought, the jeans two sizes too small might just be easier for you to donate. Consider all your accessories such as scarves, ties, purses, bags, necklaces, belts, shoes, and boots. Make a genuine and honest attempt to discard
any items that are dated, damaged, don’t fit, or make you feel indifferent. Once you complete this task, take a look at what is left and start considering which items could go well together to create fabulous ensembles. If you like prints, go ahead mix and match them, the only golden rule is to stay within the same color palette. This guideline is useful for both men and women. I recommend you keep or budget to purchase: a classic white shirt, a neutral colored jacket, some black pants and a good pair of jeans. These items truly are staple pieces that will allow you to create many different timeless looks. Next, pair up your best items and create ten great outfits! Keep in mind by mixing and matching you end up with a lot more options to pick from; This would include pairing up accessories. Then, take what you rejected from your closet, pack it up and donate it to a shelter or charity. Although we may be high on trend and style, those in need will appreciate your giveaways much more than you can imagine. Now, not only have you helped someone in need but from this point on, instead of waking up anxious every morning, you will be feeling great about the clothes you are wearing which in turn will generate a sense of empowerment within. My advice to you, take that good feeling and use it to make the world a better place!

Neloni Gunawardena " I believe so much in the abundant medicinal properties that herbs and spices provide"
Herbs and spices have incredible healing powers aside from giving food a delectable taste. Some can curb inflammation in the body, lower blood sugar, settle upset stomachs and even help with migraines and headaches. Others are antiviral, antibacterial, anticancer and antibiotic just to highlight a few. Adopting a daily lifestyle that includes herbs and spices can reap so many benefits.

My name is Neloni Gunawardena. Before I share with you the magic of spices and the delicious recipe that I have created for you, let us get more acquainted.
28
I was born in Sri Lanka, and at the age of four, I moved to Kenya where I lived for eleven years before arriving to Canada. My fascination with herbs and spices started when I was just eight years old as I
accidently created a mulberry jam from scratch. As the years passed, my interest in cooking grew. I wanted to become a chef, but my well-intended parents had other aspirations for my future. They wanted me to become a doctor, a lawyer or an engineer. Torn between their dream and mine, I decided to follow the plan they had laid out and entered college to study business administration. Although I excelled in school, my desire to become a chef was so sincere, that I decided to learn all the skills necessary on my own. Since then, I have never been more proud of my accomplishments. Refusing to listen to the good intentions of others, allowed me to follow my passion and succeed as a “self-taught chef. I have since mastered both gluten free and vegan cooking and created three spice blends, two of which I use every day. I believe so much in the abundant medicinal properties that herbs and spices provide that I had to share my knowledge and do my part to help those struggling with aches and pain daily. It is the driving force behind every dish that I create. I hope you will enjoy the tasty recipe I am sharing with you this month. Always remember that the joy of life depends on the blend of spice you put in, so make it good!

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS Take your butternut squash, carefully cut it in half. Put both halves face down in a baking dish with about 1 cup of water. Bake for only 15 minutes at 375° degrees. In a large saucepan, melt in unsalted butter, and toss with the onion, garlic, and ginger. Then mix in the diced celery, carrot, and zucchini. Cook for a couple of minutes and add "Neloni's Spice for the Soul” (optional) as well as the curry powder into the vegetables. Toss for a couple of minutes and add the rest of the spice ingredients. Cook over medium heat for another 2 minutes, and then pour in the vegetable stock (preferably organic) just enough to cover the vegetables. Add your green lentils, chopped kale and red Swiss chard. Cook for an additional 15 minutes until stock is well absorbed in the vegetables. Once cooked set it aside to cool down to let the juices and flavors marinate with each other. Once cooled, toss in the cooked couscous, brown rice, with the vegetable mixture as well as the stale crumbled bread, chopped cilantro and chopped tomatoes. Set aside for about one hour. Take your warm squash, put both halves face up and add the marinated mixture of vegetables. Bake for another 35 to 40 minutes, or until the hard skin is soft to cut through. Serve with a fresh kale salad.

IN LAKESH - Steven, Gabriela; tell us a little bit more about yourself. My name is Steven Shulgach; I am a freelance cinematographer, drone operator, and animator, and I am Gabriela Kostadinova, a visual and conceptual artist, a dancer, and actress. Together, we are the creators of the short film Omnipresent.
30
IN LAKESH - Where did you draw the inspiration to create the short film Omnipresent? The original motivation and inspiration to create Omnipresent came from having to complete a school assignment. However, the project had its limitations, whereas Gabriela and I were inspired to go way above and beyond its initial scope. We wanted to take it to the next level, luckily, we got the support of our professor and just started the process. It was important for us to create an emotional connection with the viewer by making it's content sentimental, powerful and by giving it a profound significance beyond pure entertainment. IN LAKESH - How did making this

short film change you? The process of shooting and editing the film gave us a clearer understanding of the importance of unity of all people. The issues of race and gender came up in our thought process during the pre-production of this film. Today, the film speaks even louder in condolence with all the tragic news heard regarding race and gender inequality. IN LAKESH - If you could make a sequel to your short film, on what journey would you take your audience? It would likely come with a message of awakening as it relates to unity and equality. The alienation caused by the hustle and bustle of today’s world, the obliteration of identity and slavery to things and concepts without even giving them a second thought is a huge part of the problem. The metaphor of the film would be a very simple one, and come from a culturally authentic place. IN LAKESH - Why do feel it is important to share this short film with as many people as possible? This movie speaks even louder than it did
/INSPIRING
IN LAKESH - What is your favorite movie of all times? Steven: As a film lover, I favor a lot of them, but one, in particular, comes to mind; “The Prestige” directed by Christopher Nolan.
IN LAKESH - What three items would you take to a deserted island other than food and water? Steven: Lightsaber, drone, and my girlfriend. Gabriela: The Holy Bible, a shovel, and a fruit plant. IN LAKESH - Lastly, from your perspective, why is WORLD UNITY important? Without unity, the world will eventually fall apart. Instead of beating each other down, we have a better chance of surviving and living a full life together by accepting all our differences and appreciating them rather than condemning them. Unity is the coming together of different elements as one, resulting in a mass of colorful, beautiful, diverse people expressed as a single group, all living with compassion, respect and love.
MAGAZINE
IN LAKESH - What do you feel is missing in entertainment today? Significance and depth.
IN LAKESH - What song best describes your work ethic? Steven: My work ethics change according to the project I am working on and the mood I am in, therefore, no song, in particular, comes to mind. I guess it’s whichever song best inspires me at that moment. Gabriela: The Flobots - the Handlebars.
LAKESH
IN LAKESH - What are your long-term aspirations regarding your careers? What areas would you like to explore in the future? I (Steven) am currently pursuing my career in the film industry, and as a YouTube-er to spread the important messages of hope for the world. As for myself (Gabriela) I am enjoying evolving as an actress and as an artist in general. My love of filmmaking, dancing, and visual arts compels me to find ways to draw others to a deeper state of awareness. On a more personal note, we both aspire to move to Los Angeles, California, to continue living our lives together as a couple, and to do more collaborative work with others within the industry.
Gabriela: I also love a lot of films, but there are a few that remain my all-time favorites; “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, the contemporary version of “The Great Expectations”, “The Pianist”, and “Forrest Gump”.

back in 2014. Only two years later, there are even more reasons to spread the awareness of this on-going, growing issue. We are essentially destroying ourselves, and the world as a result. People need to remember the importance of uniting, of understanding and respecting other’s points of view and in the process become more compassionate towards one another.

THE LIFE OF A SPIRITUAL ARCHITECT By
Damiano
Mazza
Before starting my, post-secondary education, I was wondering what to do with my life. My consciousness and my heart were telling me to be an architect, but I questioned that choice as I strived to achieve the perfect life, as defined to me by modern standards. I could have been a lawyer, and probably get rich. But at the time, architecture interested me the most and so I pursued that career wholeheartedly.

After graduating, I followed an academic approach to design, in particular as it related to the functionality and exteriority, as most of my colleagues. During that time, my routine was typical; work, play, socialize. Although I was living a perceived happy life, deep down inside I felt unsatisfied, unfulfilled. As I reflect upon that time in my life, it seems I was trapped in a “social” cage. Every time I would question myself if this was it, I could sense my soul sending me messages to explore my options. Therefore, I decided to listen and to trust my intuition.

to each other. This knowledge changed my approach to architecture. It was no longer simply about buildings, interiors, and design, but a way to express creativity and re-create an energetic balance in a home, office or even in a garden.
From that moment on, everything changed! I felt I was seeking out my soul's purpose. Step by step I re-discovered myself with the help of those who had done the same before me. This transformation allowed me to shift my attention from the restricting view that is “I” to the possibilities of “we” as a collective force.
Architecture, in my understanding, is the science that unites what we are with the place we live in; integrating our real essence with what surrounds us. I came to feel and understand this philosophy by studying ancient European and Native American architectural theories as well as the construction techniques of Vastu and Feng Shui, all incredibly powerful. I call it Spiritual Architecture; which studies the profound relationship linking humans and their environment. It is a relationship between the creator and the user of that space, a holistic vision of life where the universal laws reflect themselves in harmony between human and space.
I know now that everybody has a flame of light within, a part of a superior consciousness, that some call God, love, a universe, which connects us all
A Spiritual Architect’s project is never the same from one to the next. Every single project begins with the deepest understanding of what the client

needs, therefore, a “standard” can’t exist therefore the various philosophies that are available, should only be used as guides. I sincerely believe that we are one with the creator and that we each have unique features and qualities imprinted within our soul, and through our diversity, we make this world multicolored and wonderful.
Human beings today genuinely need to reconnect not only with him or herself but to everyone and everything as a whole to experience great joy. The good news is that this state of consciousness is not far at all, but right around the corner and we need few things to begin. One of these things is to have a new approach to the space in which we reside. And I want to help you get there. My name is Damiano Mazza, I am a spiritual architect from Italy, and I would be honored to guide you through this process of rediscovery.

What we have to create is a magic world around us, able to transmit those particular qualities, made of energies, in tune with our being, to help us with our physical and spiritual evolution. We must ensure that our homes become temples dedicated to our lives. The only way to accomplish this is to adopt a different approach to our homes. Our daily rituals and habitual thinking put us on autopilot from the moment we wake up to the
time we go to bed at night. Because of this robotic lifestyle, we give little attention to the small occurrences that are happening in our lives, within our home. We have gotten so used to ignoring them that we limit our ability to sense the energy flow that exists in everything.

This exercise will be the first of a series to help you take the first steps in creating a deeper connection with who you are, in relations to space you reside in. My hope is that you will create greater harmony with your home which in turn will positively impact your day to day. To perceive your home as a living entity in continuous exchange of energy will allow you to create a balance where there is a lack of it and help you build within that sacred space a more loving, joyful, peaceful and abundance existence. This exercise should be done alone and will require pen and paper in hand.
