El presente capítulo tiene como propósito reflexionar, de manera teórica, sobre aquello que determina el desempeño académico de estudiantes de nivel medio superior (EMS). Aun cuando se considera que el tema de los factores respecto del desempeño del alumno es un tema agotado, el revisar este asunto educativo en estudiantes de bachillerato, y atendiendo a los múltiples problemas que afrontan los jóvenes, parece pertinente identificar lo expresado por la teoría. Este documento permite acceder de manera rápida y general sobre aquellos trabajos que se han desarrollado respecto de esta temática, para ello, se presenta inicialmente un panorama general sobre la educación media en México, para continuar sobre el entendimiento del alumno como responsable de sus acciones en la escuela. Posteriormente, se discuten diversos documentos sobre los factores que pueden explicar el desempeño de los alumnos en las aulas de bachillerato.

Academic performance of high school students. A theoretical reflection on associated factors Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to reflect, in a theoretical way, on what determines the academic performance of upper secondary level students (EMS). Even when it is considered that the issue of factors regarding student performance is an exhausted issue, reviewing this educational issue in high school students, and taking into account the multiple problems faced by young people, it seems pertinent to identify what is expressed by the theory. This document allows quick and general access to those works that have been developed regarding this topic, for this, an overview of secondary education in Mexico is initially presented, to continue on the understanding of the student as responsible for their actions in the school. Subsequently, various documents are discussed on the factors that can explain the performance of students in high school classrooms.
