Our Test Lab It’s no accident that our European and US headquarters just happen to be located in the outdoor and sports meccas of the Black Forest of Germany and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. While many companies are content to develop products while listening to the soothing hum of trafﬁc with a backdrop of urban commerce and shopping malls, at Pearl Izumi we look to the outdoors for our stimulation and inspiration.

For Pearl Izumi, this equates to the perfect laboratory to create, develop, test and reﬁne our products with the world’s best and most critical athletes on some of the most demanding terrain and across Mother Nature’s full spectrum of weather and temperature conditions. Whether it’s Darcy Africa of the Pearl Izumi / Smith Ultra-Run team, Triathlon up-and-comer Cameron Dye or seasoned veterans like Tim DeBoom, we partner with athletes and testers who demand the most from their products—from ﬁt to fabric to comfort to performance—and use them in the harshest and most varied of conditions. These athletes push us to be better every day.

Sure, the year round weather is nicer in southern California and the South of France, but we see value in living in places that can see 40 degree temperature swings in a few hours, can get snow in any month of the year, and have terrain of every imaginable grade and surface. How else can we develop and push the capabilities of the products our users rely on and we stand behind? For us, it’s not just our job and our livelihood, its our obsession, our passion and our reason for being.
