Entendiendo los “View Range”

En Revit, el rango de vista está definido por 4 planos. Y aunque parezca innecesaria tanta cantidad de planos para definir las vistas, creo que la explicación de este fenómeno es la costumbre de dar por supuesto que el plano inferior es el suelo y la parte superior coincide con el techo. Además, Revit incluye un plano de corte y otro de profundidad de vista. Por este motivo, gracias a estos planos podemos grafiar el recorrido de toda la instalación prácticamente en una vista en planta.
Pero como se configuran estos planos? Los elementos fuera del rango de vista no se muestran en la vista excepto si se establece el “View Underlay”; es decir, una vista subyacente a un nivel fuera del rango de vista. Básicamente hay dos rangos de vista: • El rango primario: delimitado por el plano Top y Botton, en las vistas de planta, y el Cut Plane y Top, en las vistas de techo. • El rango subyacente: delimitado por el plano Bottom y View depth en las vistas de planta, y el Top y View depth, en las vistas de techo.

Cómo son dibujados los elementos respecto la configuración del View Range? • • •
Los elementos dentro de los límites del rango primario que no se cortan, se dibujan según el estilo de elemento,”Object styles”, proyección de línea.(ver fig.2) Los elementos que se cortan, se dibujan según el estilo de elemento, línea de corte . Pero, no todos los elementos se pueden mostrar como cortados. Los elementos que están dentro de la profundidad de la vista se dibujan según en el estilo de línea fuera,”Line Styles”, <Beyond> (ver fig.1.)

Otras reglas del View Range: Los elementos de modelo situados fuera del rango de visión por lo general no se muestran. Excepciones: forjados, escaleras, rampas, y los componentes que se mantienen o se montan en el suelo (como los muebles, por ejemplo); estos se muestran incluso cuando ligeramente estén por debajo del rango de vista. Los elementos que son estrictamente por debajo del plano de corte, (pero son al menos parcialmente dentro del rango de vista), se muestran como si se viesen desde arriba. Además, hay unas pocas categorías para las cuales se muestra un elemento situado por encima del plano de corte, pero en parte por debajo del clip de la parte superior. Estas categorías incluyen ventanas y modelos genéricos y estos objetos se muestran como si se viesen desde arriba. In Revit, the View Range is defined by 4 plans. Not necessarily the bottom plan has to match with the floor level neither the upper plan has to match with the ceiling; this is the reason why 4 plans are needed to define the views. In addition, Revit includes a cut plan and a depth plan view. This is the reason why we can visualize all the elements on a single plan view. Fig. 2 - Object Styles
But how plan views are set up? The elements beyond the view range are not displayed unless “View Underlay” is enabled. Basically there are two View Ranges: • The Primary Range: bounded by the Top Plan and the Bottom Plan on the plan views and bounded by the Cut Plane and Top Plane on the ceiling views. • The Subjacent Range: bounded by the Bottom and View Depth on the Plan View. And the Top and View Depth on the Ceiling View.
How are elements drawn with respect to the view range? • • • •
Elements within the boundaries of the primary range that are not cut are drawn in the element’s projection line style. (see fig.2). Elements that are cut are drawn in the element’s cut line style. Note: Not all elements can display as cut. Elements that are within the view depth are drawn in the beyond line style. The objects within the view depth are displayed as per “Line Styles - beyond” (see fig.1).

Floor plan View range
Additional view range rules Model elements located outside of the view range generally are not shown in the view. The exceptions are floors, stairs, ramps, and components that stay or are mounted on the floor (like furniture). These are shown even when slightly below the view range.

Elements that are strictly below the cut plane, but are at least partially within the view range, are shown as viewed from above.In addition, there are a few categories for which an element located above the cut plane but partially below the top clip is shown in plan. These categories include windows, casework, and generic models. These objects are displayed as if they were seen from above.
