Whole-home renovations on the Parade showcase the transformation of a variety of home types, including the reworking of a 1970s Vancouver Special, the updating of a 1940s Burnaby home into a forward-thinking house, and the perfect modernization of a craftsman-style home in Surrey. he folks at Adera Development Group are shouting from their sustainably designed rooftops about their host of recent award wins – and who can blame them? Most recently, the local developer walked off with three prizes, including the top honour in the country, at the Canadian Home Builder’s Association (CHBA) National Awards for Housing Excellence. Adera received the coveted Design Excellence Award, as well as two individual New Home Awards for North Vancouver’s The Shore, in the categories of Attached–Mid-ToHigh-Rise Condominium or Apartment Project and the Apartment Style/Condominium Units under 1,000 square feet. The Design Excellence Award recognizes the outstanding performance by a single builder or developer in the new home categories in all of Canada, and it is the third time Adera has taken home this most prestigious prize. The team could not be more excited about

CLT is a mass timber product created from engineered wood panels with

wood from sustainably harvested forests. Each CLT panel is typically three to seven boards thick, laminated at high pressure to create a strong luxury building material. “Imagine a slab of wood replacing a slab of concrete for the floor. Mass timber performs as well as, if not better, than concrete in most circumstances. It is lighter, easier to work with and more sustainable. We feel it’s the way of the future,” Andreasen says. He adds, “Sustainability is baked into our DNA. It’s important from a triple bottom line: lower monthly costs for our customers, personal satisfaction for us and it’s the socially responsible thing to do for the planet.
