The World Wide Web offers many new networking and business opportunities for the savvy Realtor. Nearly every agent in Las Cruces has a website, offers virtual tours for their listings and prefers to be contacted via email. In today’s market and in the current Information Age knowledge is power and exposure is key. Therefore, the Internet is an integral part of marketing real estate to buyers and sellers locally, regionally and nationally. Remaining on the cutting edge of technology is crucial for today’s agent as it allows them to provide the most exposure for current clients and allows them to communicate with potential new clientele. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has recently turned to Internet Crusade, a long-time consultant to the real estate community, to develop its new e-PRO certification program. In fact, e-PRO is the only Internet certification program approved by the NAR and, in the state of New Mexico, counts toward continuing education hours for Realtors upon completion. WHAT IS E-PRO? e-PRO provides a means by which real estate professionals may learn more about Internet networking while expanding upon the knowledge they may already have. “e-PRO offered me an array of education on web presence, better uses of email marketing, and the importance of owning my own domain,” says Teri Camacho of EXIT Realty Horizons. Born and raised in Las Cruces, Teri Camacho earned the privilege of becoming a top ten salesperson in her office for two years running before moving to EXIT Realty. She knows her business, her city, and its people. She also
knows her way around electronic media, yet she still learned a great deal in achieving her e-PRO accreditation. “The program is designed for the advanced user or the beginner,” Teri Camacho tells LasCrucesMoves.com during an informal meeting at her office. “I didn’t simply learn about effective use of email, domains, and other forms of web presence, but how to integrate them into an effective whole.” This “big picture” approach to electronic media has helped Teri remain as competitive as ever in the rapidly-changing marketplace. For instance, she learned to more efficiently manage her numerous domains by funneling prospective clients toward a central hub, which she updates regularly. But the program goes further than merely increasing exposure. Rather, the e-PRO helps “establish a baseline of online competence, and it will also introduce its students and graduates to the best aspects of Online Communities.” CONVENIENCE AND UTILITY Another aspect of the e-PRO program is that agents can complete the course online and in their own time. That’s particularly important for a busy Realtor who often keeps irregular hours. “The network community helps me a lot,” Teri says. “Realtors support each other with plenty of feedback and referrals.” No one can doubt the importance of technology and providing a multitude of marketing outlets in the Information Age. This kind of support rests at the Realtors’ fingertips 24/7, and e-PRO certification goes a long way to enhancing agents’ tools to market themselves and their sellers’ homes. As Teri Camacho proclaims, “e-PRO has helped me better serve my clients in a more professional way.”
