Press photo assignment Strøget is the biggest shopping street in Copenhagen, and it was where we captured the photo of the workers and the tourists. In the front of the picture, you see a structural enclosure who represent the national Danish colors, white and red. In the middle of the picture, you see two workers who are working under the ground of where the people go. In the background there are some people who is out shopping or maybe on a visit to Copenhagen, behind them we see the Royal Jeweler Peter Hertz. Which creates a symbolic contract between the lower class and the upper class. There is literally a barrier between the two types of people. We chose the photo, because we liked the visual structure of the picture, and the way it reflects society. We liked all the symbolic meaning, the workers in the shadow with sun on the others and the very sharplayered look. As Andreas Bro talked about a press photo has to show an opinion or feeling. It need to make us question the daily living and make us rethink our mindset. Our photo does not show any feelings or close contact with people, because we were more interested in a symbolic meaning and to opinion.

The workers is almost placed beneath everyone walking the streets of Strøget – literally beneath as they crawl under the cement. Workers like these are usually working with construction for the money and not for a passion. As their values in life is about families and free time, and their job is just a way to be able to enjoy the time off work. They usually have a short education consisting of a few years and results in a job with a rather low income. With the their family and outgoing values, they are placed in the “rose” segment of the Minerva-model. This group is known for showing kindness towards nature, family and local area. Though the Minerva-model is very generalizing and fits people into tight boxes, that almost no one can fulfill completely. As we have not talked to these workers, we are only seeing them from the prejudging knowledge we grew up to believe in.
