Animal Type

The type of animal plays an important role in the selection.With animals that are difficult to contain,such as wild animals,sheep,goats and fowl,powerful equipment should be used.With more easily contained animals,such as cattle,horses, pigs and domestic animals,less powerful equipment is needed for the equivalent length of fencing.

Electric Fence

An electric fence circuit consists of 5 main parts

① The energizer produces regular current pulses. ② The fence wiring transports the current along the fence.Insulators ensure that the

current is not led away to the soil. ③ When an animal touches the fence the current travels through the animal’s body. ④ The current travels through the soil. ⑤ The earth stakes carry the current back to the energizer.

Fence gate &Fittings

1、 Gate handles are used to connect hot wire, but can be held without receiving a shock to open a gate. 2、 Expandable gates are made up of a long spring and an insulated gate handle The electric fence gate handle is disconnected from the post and then the gate is opened by pulling the spring gate back with the gate handle. 3、 Spring gates expand and keep the electric fence gate taut. It is electrified when closed and neutral when open.

Fence Insulators

The role of insulators to insulate the live wire from earth.With the high voltages which are typical for an electric fence ,it is important to avoid arcing from the wire to the post,and at the same time minimize any leakage current due to dampness or dirt deposits.Short circuits or discharges not only create a load for the energizer,but can also create ratio interference.It should be noted that with low quality insulators,considerable time and effort is required to check them regularly and/or replace them.

Instead of standing and winding up polywire from the fixed post,and thus pulling it through all corner insulators,quick and easy removal of the reels allows one to walk along the fence line while paying out or winding in the polywire;this reduces wear on the polywires and means less effort –particularly in winding it in.

Tape accessories

1、Properly joining lines of electric tape, rope and twine is essential when maintaining maximum conductivity in an electric fence. 2、 Tying conductors together will NOT join the conductors together and a substantial loss in power is inevitable when doing this and the more knots in a fenceline , the more the power is diluted. 3、 For this reason using the proper connectors is advised as with these the actual connector becomes 'live' and then all the conductors of the rope / tape / twine become charged. 4、 There are also steel wire leads to take the high voltage from the electric fencing energiser to the fence (whether it be polytape or polyrope) and strainers to allow you to tighten and slacken the fencing as required.

Electric Fence 13

Fence posts 1、Fence posts provide stability and longevity to your fence. 2、Place two to three shovel scoops of gravel at the bottom of each post hole before placing the post into position. 3、Use a level to make sure the post is plumb. After the posts are properly aligned, brace each post with stakes. 4、With the posts aligned, fill the hole with dir, tamping the ground at the post base to pack the dirt. Be careful not to disturb the post alignment during the tamping process.

Wire Heights &Post Spacing for Electric Fencing

Sheep Sheep, being naturally well insulated, need multiple lines to insure they get a shock where they can actually feel it.

The number of lines in your electric fence and their spacing depends on the size and agility of the animals you want to container of deter. Small and nimble species like rabbits, for in instance, need more lines than larger, less agile animal like cattle of horses. You need sufficient lines carefully positioned to maximize contact with an animalâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sensitive nose, and to ensure it canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t dodge underneath or jump over the electric fence.

Cattle Cattle are very sensitive to electric fencing, so you can get away with a single line at around 100 cm form the ground when strip-grazing dairy cows.

Horse The heights of fences used for other livestock do not necessarily apply to horse fences. Horses are more athletic and more likely to jump a fence than to go through or under it when spooked or herded. The minimum recommended height for horse electric fence is 96cm.

Rabbits Rabbits, being small and low to the ground ,with the ability to both or jump, can be difficult to fence. While electrified rabbit netting is suitable for small areas, a four or six-line electric fence will deter them across longer runs.
