PUTU ADITYA SAPUTRA, S.T. saputraditya@hotmail.com

WENT ABROAD WITH THE DRAWING BOARD Before getting my bachelor degree, I thought being an architect is simply working with concept and draft it into reality. Turns out in my years of practice, it is more like celebration of a phenomenon that consist of many involvement of people, activity, and environtment. When I accumulated my experiences in Maldives for 3 years, my architect background let me understand how the similiarities and differences between Bali and Maldives as a paradise for Tourist, especialy on the hospitality design scoop. Therefore, as both local wisdoms continously inspire me. I am determine in participating and to innovate residential and hospitality industry in my hometown. I would like to finish my words with quotes from Louis Khan, “Architecture is the thoughtful making of space”.

AN UPGRADE TO ELEVATE This project initiated by Mr. Komang Subagiana as a renovation project for his 10 years traditional market running. The idea is to add more capacity and choice to the costumer and tenant for the market sustainability. as a public market, it is necessary to have upgrade such as shop building and new appearance and facade for his market. The problem from existing plan of the market forms complicated circulation among the Tenant shop and Kiosk vendor. In order to solve the circulation problem, the block plan we offer was to make 3 segment for the market. first we arrange tenant building on the front, then we pot kiosk area on the center of the market. Parking spot in the center to maximize the circulation inside the market, with fixated schedule for trade activity and resupply activity.

TENANT BUILDING + OFFICE Mixed-use buildings erase individual programmatic quality by assimilating programs into a single architectural identity, through means of homogeneous facade treatment and integration of scale. This act is viewed as to simplify the identity of the building also to maximize building usage experience and time.

egionalism and Hinduism influence on the design shows the designer consideration for the local wisdom. As a house to accomodate the big family of Mersi clan, the larger proportion of the open space on the site is to encourage more outside social activity

among the family whenever they held traditional ceremony. Abundance vegetation presence on the site also to support people activity aestheticaly and thermal comfort. So the family members wont feel heat to much at Singaraja hot climate.

| 12

Tri Kona concept were used on the gate to represent as the witness of the harmonious, dynamic life of these grand family. As the gate itself greet the familly member from the newborn into the deceased. The triangle pattern represent the dynamic life of the people wich is hope to have the good ending from left to right.

LEGACY TREES We believe old age is not the end of one’s family. Even though family members will scatter all around the world, collective memory and moments spent on the house will forever stay in everyone’s heart. We introduced a lot of vegetation presence inside and outside roomto each dedicated for every members to plant their own legacy tree. A legacy tree is considered as an avatar of each members of the family. Once the old member passed away, tree will continue to mark the family’s growth.

LIGHTING DESIGN Guidance lights are subtle hints to allow visitors and passersby to find their way through the plaza. Highlights are explicit lighting fixtures that denote working space. They may vary in color and luminosity to best suit the microcosm. We took advantage of readily available and tested units and creatively integrate them into our landscape.

he goal was to emulate the comfort experience while keeping hierarchy of program and visitor clear. The structural concept for the building has been considered and developed to best achieve the architectural vision for the project, balancing between the ease of construction and cost. Deep foundation is used to counter the roof cantilever due to the height of the building. The structural scheme is collection of structurally autonomous blocks skewered by common cores and columns that are strategically braced by horizontal program blocks

EXPERIENCES TRHOUGH MALDIVES

I

n 2017, a year after I graduated from university, i’m recruited by the Malaysian timber supplier company LUSERA SDN BHD. My job was to act as Timber supervisor, mainly to make sure all the timber materials that come to site is in good condition, supervise and draft the timber instalation, also to lobby the client from the company. I also coordinate with the site manager depending on the situation. Usually i do check how their labors work, then do some minor drawing changes on site, or make some recommendation if needed.

My fist project started in island named the Reethi Faru Island. There the project consist of supervising public building construction, such as lobby, coffe shop, main restaurant, main bar and arrival jetty. My second Island named Tilamafushi Island, the project were to construct a full scale island resort. My third Island named Kanifushi Island, the project were to construct a watervilla unit with overwater restaurant. And my last Island named Bodhufinolhu Island, the project were to construct a full scale island resort.
