Design Brief
Sukabumi City Hub
The old Sukabumi terminal building has a design that only accommodates several types of transportation, including city transportation (Angkot), intercity buses, and inter-provincial buses. The design that will be developed is the city hub so that it will attract more travelers to come to Sukabumi Regency not only as a terminal or transit location. The designs that will be mixed-use are Mall, Hotel, and Terminal.
Time Team Position Client Location
1 months Sugino, Reza Hidayatullah, Belia Astoria, & Esther Linda Architect Ministry of Transportation Indonesia Sukabumi, West Java
Main Issue Located in the Sukabumi district, south of the city of Sukabumi, this Sukabumi Terminal does not have many magnet attractions that can attract local visitors and travelers. Besides being quite far from Sukabumi City, another attraction that is close to the terminal location is SantaSea Waterpark Sukabumi. The road to the north of the site is also poorly maintained. Only the road from the south of the site has wide and good road conditions.
The designs that will be combined are the Mall, Hotel, and Terminal where the Mall is the main attraction after the Hotel. Budget hotels will be positioned above the Mall. Besides the design that will be presented is a large green open space or large courtyard in the middle of the Mall. The Terminal will be positioned to the west of the Mall with a large canopy that surrounds the Building. There is a bus parking lot that is placed in the basement with a capacity of up to 50 buses.
16
17
Green open spaces will also be open to the public on the roof of the mall as green spaces and city parks that have never been presented in the surrounding building concept. The Hotel design concept presented is a resort feel like in Bali or any tropical places in Southeast Asia.
18
19
The mall and hotel lobby will be separated, separating the mall and hotel visitors. The concept presented at the mall and hotel facades is a futuristic building with a blue LED strip surrounding the mall facade. Large courtyards in the middle of the mall are also designed with a stage and fish pond that can be accessed by the public. Performances can also be played as a magnet of the Mall's attractions.

Meanwhile, The Interior Design concept is a luxurious classic interior that is contrary to the concept of the building facade. This is caused by the absence of classic concepts by the surrounding buildings. This Interior also brings indoor plants and contemporary style design to the ceiling and Mall Elevator.

Grand Inn Hotel
Located on Sultan Agung Street, this hotel is designed in the classic American and neoclassic style. This 3-star hotel is directed to have six to seven floors with public facilities placed on the top floor while restaurant and management offices on the ground floor.
Time Team Position Client Location
1 months Architect Confidential Jl. Sultan Agung, Jakarta
Main Issue Located on Jalan Sultan Agung, Jakarta, this site has a width of 17 meters and a length of 32.5 meters. The size must accommodate around 70 rooms in the building. With the high demand from the owner, parking space for the guests and the workers are the main problem. This excludes mechanical and electrical rooms which are also positioned in the basement.
The public facilities for guests will also be placed on the top oor of the building. This is due to the limited space that can be built inside the building and outside the site. Besides, the building design style is more directed to American classic and neoclassic style architecture that looks clean and sleek.
32
Basement 33
Ground Floor
1st Floor
With a site width 17 m and length 32.5 m, the basement will not be enough to place more than eight cars for 72 guests, the solution is to place the parking spaces on the ground floor and the ground floor area will be placed in the upper or first floor. The Ground floor is designed with Receptionist, Restaurant, Bar, Management Office, and Restaurant kitchen. Whereas the Top Floor is filled with Pool and open-style Bar.
2nd - 6th Floor
Top Floor 34
35
Neoclassic and American classic styles were combined with modern and contemporary styles in the large canopy that covers the basement entrance area and drop off area on the ground floor. These styles reduce a lot of motives and classic carvings to maintain the elegant look without most of the classic features. The facade is covered with beige granite or marble and combining black steel and placing signage or building names on the canopy design as the building's accent point. 36
Deluxe Room
37
Superior Room
Two kinds of bedrooms in this hotel are The Deluxe Room and The Superior Room with 0.5 m width and length difference. They have the same configuration but with minor differences. The Deluxe Room has a Sofa, while Superior room doesn't. Meanwhile, The Superior Room has 0.5 m length longer than The Deluxe R o o m . T h e s e t w o configurations are typical from the second to the sixth floor. Bay Window comes in every type. This design will regulate split air conditioners which will be placed under the window and covered with architectural features. Bay Window will be an accent in hotel interior design because every window can be sat by the guests.

Main Issue Batu city, one of tourist attractions in the region, which has a mountainous view s u r r o u n d s t h e c i t y . Vi s i o n i n g t o b e Agropolis (or agricultural city), Batu is wrecking its agricultural area. While Batu tourism develops, the agricultural of Batu declines. Based on KBDA 2016, Batu has lost its 129 Ha area of crops and farm (BPS Batu City). The fertile area of the city one by one replaced by hotels and theme parks. Farmers lost their jobs and forced to move to work at a hotel and other tourism sectors. 55.007 people work in
tourism, doubled more than the agricultural sector. The city has lost its soul. Based on RTRW Batu 2010-2030 (City Planning Regulation for 2010-2030), the Agropolis market was planned in the Giripurno district. Envisioning Batu to be Agropolis and capturing the market of tourism in Batu, this large-scale market combining the function between recreation, education, and traditional market. These concepts produce wellharvested crops to sustain themselves.

The site used a cut-and-fill method to place a large footprint of this building and to adjust the height for agrotourism.
3
Basic form extends from east to west, adjusting the solar analysis (reducing direct sunlight).
4
Adding new mass for wider footprints, providing more spaces for the market.
5
Bending the mass, orienting the mass to inside the site as the view inside the mass is mostly mountainous and attracting people to go further inside.
6
Refining the bended mass for smoother transition between inside and outside the mass.
7
The bended mass adapted to contour height to reduce site manipulation and costs.

Main Issue Located on the second floor of the Gajayana Arts Building, renovating the museum is a bit difficult. Apart from the limited space on the second oor and the need for a lot of space, collections and musical instruments to be displayed were too many. The proposed design must display at least the entire musical equipment owned by the Indonesian Music Museum that year.
A n o t h e r d i ff i c u l t y i s t h a t t h e r e i s a grandstand on the second oor that leads to the first-floor stage which is currently not utilized for the Indonesian music museum. One of the requested space from the manager was a small stage that can be used as a press conference room, band performances, and presentations.

The glass screen is designed to have a oor-oriented tilt to reduce glare and naturally illuminate objects. The glass screen also protects the object displayed from the touch of visitors. The wall is designed to have so many sharp contours as an analogy from the mountain that surrounds Malang City. The redesigned museum floor plan was to simplify the main circulation and optimize all collections that can be shown in the museum's display screen and shelf. Meanwhile, the entrance will be determined in the left stairs to minimize errors or wrong entry from the existing design.
The colors used in this interior are mostly dark or black to reduce glare and absorb light that points to objects. As expected by the manager, the designed Mini theater has a small stage that can be used for music performances, presentations, and press conferences.
