Please be sure to join us at the 19th Annual Maine Antiques Dealers Association Coastal Antiques Show! The Maine Antiques Dealers Association (MADA) is a professional trade organization formed in 1929 by several area antiques dealers who wanted to promote their collective businesses. They published a membership directory, started an elegant antique show at a hotel in Portland, and focused their energy on educating the public about antiques. The Association was incorporated in 1943 and set forth the following purposes in its bylaws: • To maintain a trade association for those engaged in the business of antiques • To keep a standard of ethics and practices to inspire confidence of the public • To pledge its membership to the highest standards of service • To acquire, preserve, and disseminate valuable trade information • To seek in every legitimate way, the advancement of its members, and with due regard for the public welfare, in every way defend and preserve the principle of individual merchandising MADA places great emphasis on education and seeks at the Annual Meeting and other forums to pro-
vide its members and other interested parties with opportunities to learn from expert speakers or trips to some of Maine’s highly regarded museums. Today our Membership Directory is distributed all over the state and beyond, and on our website each individual dealer has her or his own page complete with pictures and a description of the antiques available for sale. Additionally, there is a Bulletin Board where anyone can post information on what’s happening in Maine with regard to antiques, and also on the website MADA has an online gallery from which buyers from all over can shop at any time. In 1998, The MADA Board of Directors established an endowment fund to promote education in, and knowledge of historical Maine arts and decorative arts. It is a means by which The Maine Antiques Dealers, collectively, can return some token of their resources to our larger Maine community, its citizens, and its art and historic institutions. Throughout the years, this program has benefited various Maine Museums, historical societies, and preservation projects in their outreach and curatorial endeavors.
The Damariscotta River Association (DRA) has worked since 1973 to “ preserve and promote the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of the Damariscotta River and adjacent areas for the benefit of all.” CONTACT INFORMATION:

The members of the Maine Antiques Dealers Association (MADA) are enthusiastic and knowledgeable professionals who are committed to the promotion and appreciation of antiques. MADA connects buyers with sellers of antiques, and fellow antiques dealers with one another for professional support and exchange of ideas – both within and outside the state of Maine. The members of MADA offer a variety of ways to experience antiquing. We sponsor our Annual Coastal Antiques Show that provides one-stop shopping opportunities where a wide variety of quality merchandise is presented in attractive displays. Many MADA members also have their own stores and galleries, or exhibit their wares in group shops. Other dealers welcome antiques enthusiasts into their homes by appointment.
