In the winter, we live among many mountains and lakes, and a new snowfall accentuates the beauty in this area. Along with the many activities that result with the appearance of snow, many locals and visitors alike love to take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing and winter hikes. And most years we are guaranteed the magic of a white Christmas!

Soon, and before you know it, spring appears! So when the temp is approaching 50, we all start preparing for many fun times outdoors! We’ll set up the deck with tables and chairs and get the grill ready to go! Raking the yard for a clean up after all of the snow has melted, lets us have a real “clean” feeling about everything and we feel we can start “a-new”! Outdoor hiking, walking and for those more “fit” squeezing in a run downtown or at Sebago Lake State Park give us the optimal “high” while breathing in the fresh crisp air! Flowers start to bloom and it’s time to get the boats ready for summer fun!

Summer comes in like a blast, although not quite as hot as those states south of us, it’s beautiful, balmy and indicative of what the best temps are for summer! Watch for many unexpected sunsets on the waterways, they are truly amazing, so have your camera ready! Boating, hiking, mountain climbing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing; your outdoor activities are endless. Each town has its own small-town celebrations for the July 4th holiday, along with special celebrations that each town offers on a regular basis. Outdoor music, parades, fireworks, boat shows, carnivals, it’s all here as we celebrate living in this beautiful area.

Fall is a time for getting ready for winter. Putting all our summer toys away, and then enjoying a warm campfire as the weather changes to much cooler nights. Lots of residents and visitors use this season to enjoy hunting, four wheeling, hiking and the local county fairs.

Of course there are plusses and minuses to each season, but as a full time resident of this beautiful area the good always outweighs the few minuses that we endure. When I leave my home, I always see the beautiful landscape that is now my “home”. Our favorite comment is “We live here!”
