Decorators of the Year Lynne Lawson and Laura Gonzalez National and regional design journalists judged their work the best among the winners in 12 categories. Lynne and Laura will be honored in New York City by renown interior designer Mario Buatta. Lynne and Laura serve clients in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas. Lynne had been a consulting executive with IBM, constantly traveling. “I liked my work, but not the lifestyle,” she says. “Buried in my mind was a deep desire to pursue interior decorating. I decided that at age 40, if I didn’t make a change then, I might never do it.” Being a “shelter/design magazine junkie,” she had read about Decorating Den Interiors. “Once I started investigating, I discovered that it was a system that I could just plug myself into. Fifteen years later, Lynne is a highly published and award winning decorator, and one of only a few who have been Decorator of the Year twice. Along the way, she’s mentored many others, including Laura who started as Lynne’s oice assistant, graduated from design school, and now shares this year’s top honor with Lynne. “I get to help wonderful clients and other franchise owners pursue their own dreams.”
