Freed Market: How do we feed ourselves? was a durational art project curated by Rachel Grant in association with Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Aberdeenshire and Seventeen Creative hub in Aberdeen, making links with the Belmont Street market.
This zine was produced under the projects ethos of collective ownership, and the exchange of knowledge, skills and dialogue. It will introduce you to the commissioned artists, the methodologies used and the participatory events that ran over six months in 2015.
The project asked the citizens of Aberdeen how they feed themselves: culturally, socially and through the immediacy of food. We would encourage you, as an artist, community worker or activist to pick up the freed market, use it as an open resource to facilitate and develop it within your own context and city to ask the collective question - how do we feed ourselves?
