DO SOMETHING TODAY THAT YOUR FUTURE SELF WILL THANK YOU FOR #TOGETHER

Today’s Reminders Daily Routine Reminders: Final two days of term! Well done for being so positive and engaged in class throughout the day; it is noted and very much appreciated by the staff. A few key headlines: 

Please ensure you touch base with your Tutor twice a day: once between 8.45am – 9.00am; once between 4.00pm – 4.15pm at the end of the day. Your Tutors will advise you how to do this.

A polite reminder that cameras should be switched off at absolutely all times during lessons.

A reminder that all academic lessons will occur as per the normal timing. The exceptions to this are Games Sessions, PE Lessons, Third Form ExAD, Period 8 and First Form Music (singing) lesson which will not, for the moment, operate. Use these periods as an opportunity to have fresh air and to take a break from screen time.

Microsoft Teams: As mentioned during the Teams briefings in the Auditorium, please look through the Stream channel by clicking on the link in the accompanying email. There are a number of really helpful instructional videos which will help you get the very best out of the remote learning experience, as well as providing guidance on safeguarding, the use of Microsoft Teams, and maintaining wellbeing while working from home. IT Helpdesk: Our amazing IT team are working around the clock to provide support for students and staff. A reminder that if you need help, do not hesitate to get in touch as follows: 

Email helpdesk@rgsg.co.uk

Wellbeing: We fully appreciate the demands on you in terms of the intensity of remote learning and the associated screen time. Please take every opportunity to have a break from electronic devices and to get some fresh air; to take exercise; to do something creative – artistic, musical etc.; to relax. Please also, however, remember as we highlighted yesterday our shared responsibility for social distancing, especially as more stringent measures have been imposed by the Government. As we mentioned yesterday and we make no apologies for including it again today: “If someone called you today and confirmed you tested positive for COVID-19 and asked you to list all the places you’ve been and all the people you’ve had contact with in the last 14 days would you feel proud or embarrassed?”

Resource of the Day Resources: Our Resource of the Day is for all you musicians and music lovers. The world-famous Berliner Philharmoniker orchestra has opened up its Digital Concert Hall archive of performances and films, so that anyone can watch for free for at least 30 days. Go to: https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/news …to set up your free account before 31 March and be inspired to keep up your practice during this period of remote learning.

Wellbeing Screen Time: We would strongly suggest that you have sustained periods each day where you are away from screens, whether that be computers, laptops, televisions or phones. Wellbeing: Remember to keep looking after yourselves. Your wellbeing is the most important thing: Time-out: At a time of self-isolation, this might seem like a slightly bizarre suggestion; however, it is unlikely that as a family you will have ever spent so much time in such close proximity with such a number of stresses impacting upon you all. Find time each day just to be alone, to have some time-out. It is amazing how precious just a little bit of peace and quiet is!

The Daily J-A-M Challenge

Just do it!

The J-A-M: The Just-A-Minute challenge. At the same time each day as you would be walking between classes, we invite you to take the one-minute J-A-M challenge. Take just 60 seconds between lessons. Today is the wall challenge; do it outside and get some fresh air at the same time. Another challenge tomorrow. The Wall: You just need a tennis ball and a wall!  You must be two metres away from the wall.  You cannot catch the ball with the same hand that you have thrown with.  You cannot transfer the ball: you must throw with the opposite hand you have just thrown.  How many consecutive catches can you make in just sixty seconds?

Today’s Cryptic Challenge Today’s Teaser: After the popularity of yesterday’s challenge, here are five more. But harder! Can you identify the RGS teachers’ surnames and their subjects below? Just one slight issue, all of the vowels and spaces have been removed! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
