MONTHLY REPORT (Ref.001) NAME: Elena Daniela Stanica ELECTED POST: Vice President Environmental and Ethics DATE: 12.02.2014 Update and achievements from previous month

Christmas holiday time during which I was not active

Outline and plan, with timeline, for current month

-25th of February in Riverside East Building , taking part in the Green Fair event organised by Judith Logan. Initially my contribution was that of having a stand where I would be promoting the newly introduced food composting facility run by the City Council. I have contacted the City Council to ask for promotional materials and instead the Aberdeen Waste Aware team accepted the invitation to come along at the event themselves, which is an even better achievement. I have arranged with Erica Manfroithe Recycling Officer at the City Council, to come and help her set up the stand where she will also give freebies . -Help RGU Union promoting their Bike Hire Scheme and collective gardening facility at the Green Fair week on the 25th of February -I have got in touch with the Freegle Organisation and arranged to set up a FreeCycle group for Robert Gordon University. They were delighted to help us set it and thought that it was an excellent idea. They contacted the already existing Aberdeen local Freegle group who are going to support us and help with the group’s monitoring. The RGU FreeCycle group is now under development by the volunteer caseworkers at Freegle and they will get in touch with me once this is ready to discuss the further steps. -Help and assist throughout the election and nominations of the new Officers

Personal objectives/Manifesto update -Promote the FreeCycle Freegle group among the RGU students and make

it grow and work by getting the students involved. Start it up by offering products that I do not need to use myself and get students excited about it

Team objectives/progress update

Campaign(s) proposal outline (Please remember to submit your completed campaign form.)

Are there any points you would like raised at the next Executive Board (Please attach any relevant papers for circulation) -

The issue of selecting new candidates who are going to stand in the elections and become the next Officers :

-

issue of making sure that they will know and understand their responsibilities ahead of time and knowing their exact time commitment and expectations from the Union;

-

suggestion of not taking any students as Vice-Presidents who are in their final year of study as there are many clashes with the workload at university and people in their 3rd and 2nd year would be more efficient as they will be able to dedicate more time to their Officers positions
