MONTHLY REPORT (Ref.001) NAME: Rachel Sanders ELECTED POST: RAG Chair DATE: 20.10.13 Update and achievements from previous month • Secured sponsorship from the Marcliffe hotel • Attended RAG Conference in Birmingham • Go Purple for CLAN evening @ RGU:Union • Met with reps from Aberdeen Cyrenians, MacMillan, Maggies Cancer Care • Freshers week; 1. 3xBBQ – Woolmanhill, Rosemount & Garthdee 2. Freshers Team Auction 3. Presence at Freshers Fayre – 3 external partners also in attendance 4. Assisted on the door of the union 5. Presence at RGU in the Park 6. Presence at RGU:Sport Club training • Awaiting final count from CLAN estimating roughly £430 • Abseiled down the library building - £150 for Childreach International • Meetings; 1. Rome Marathon & China – Monday 7th Oct – OK turnout 2. RGU:RAG – Tuesday 8th Oct – excellent response 3. Climb Kili 4 Kids – Wednesday 9th Oct – poor turnout (weather?) 4. Big Build Morocco – Thursday 10th Oct – Ok turnout • Streetsport Aberdeen FC collection –volunteers provided for 19 th Oct • Movemeber sub-committee set up to plan events • Approached by RGU to partner with the Doric Dictionary and sell these in the months leading up to Christmas for charity – (vote at rag meeting due to time constraints) resulted in chosen charity being the National Literacy Trust Outline and plan, with timeline, for current month • • • • • •
Confirm China Trek details by w/c 4th Nov RAG Social Tuesday 22nd Oct – rag committee to organise Movember planning in place – information stall on campus 28/10 – launch party 1/11 – end party 30/11 Plans for Children in Need to be Explored Publicity around Doric Dictionary RAG policies and procedures to be finalised – ongoing over the next

Personal objectives/Manifesto update Growing RAG Had a fantastic number of sign ups at the freshers fayre – great response from the mailing list – averaging 40 people at meetings More Local Volunteering and Community Engagement Currently planning Christmas Volunteering project at a local homeless shelter within Aberdeen International Challenges and Volunteering Rome Marathon with Breast Cancer Campaign – promoting and encouraging sign ups (10spaces) Big Build Morocco – Team leader in place – sign ups open (20 spaces) recruitment going well Climb Kili 4 Kids – looking for a team leader – sign ups open – 8 people signed up over first weekend. Trek the Great Wall of China – issues regarding charity – awaiting choose a challenge rep returning to finalise – sign ups to be open by w/c 4.11 RAG Recognition Being approached by RGU to partner with the Doric Dictionary was great Climb Kili 4 Kids 2013 was in the Sept issue of Nexus Outstanding individual at RAG conference – great coverage Students coming to us telling us they had done their research before joining! Continuing Relations with Charities and RAGs Great networking at RAG Conference Charity reps visiting for meetings Team objectives/progress update
