Updates and Achievements from Past Month Union  Assisted the General Manager in the preparation of the RGU:Union Impact Report Presentation  Set up RGU:Union Snapchat account to develop another avenue of communication and engagement with students.  Produced a Monthly Message video to communicate my work over the month to students.  Attended union staff meetings to update them on developments and encourage collaborative working  Communicated key messages to students through social media on areas such as student safety  Met with union staff and executive members to plan various Freshers’ Week events  Met with sub-group of staff equality champions to discuss One RGU, Many Nations Carnival  Promoted and communicated about various events taking place in Freshers Week  Attended Finance Sub-Committee of the RGU:Union Trustee Board  Attended meeting co-ordinated by RGU:RAG Chair to discuss RGU: Union’s contribution to Movember campaign.  Was elected as Chair of the Executive Board, and chaired the first RGU:Union Executive Meeting  Attended and presented at Freshers Team Training to discuss Freshers Welfare Campaign, and RGU:Union  Produced a video version of the RGU:Union induction presentation that would allow our message to be visible to more students, and distance learners  Assisted in the planning, and coordination of several Fresher’s Week Events o RGU:RAG BBQ at Woolmanhill o Woolmanhill Street Party o Full Moon Party o Wristband Collection and Sales o RGU:RAG BBQ at Mealmarket o RGU:Radio presents Model Aeroplanes Live

o Sports Day and Laser Tag at RGU:Sport o RGU:RAG BBQ at Garthdee o Freshers Fling Ceilidh o Matt Richardson Live Comedy Night o Freshers Fayre  Coordinated and presented RGU:Union induction presentations in various classes, covering a wide range of courses  Produced initial designs and plans for Give It A Go Week.  Collected feedback from various stakeholders on Freshers Week with the view to producing a Freshers Impact Report  Plan dates for various RGU:Union forums throughout the year  Produced and promoted a Freshers Feedback Survey to ask students views on Freshers Week  Attended my first Trustee Board meeting of RGU:Union

University  Appointment of eight faculty officers after discussions with Faculty Deans  Attended meeting with University Senior Management to detail RGU:Union’s Compliance with the Education Act.  Recorded audio as part of a class representative recruitment video  Met with Bryan McCann to discuss the Aberdeen Youth Games and a possible student steering group  Coordinated inductions to allow for an RGU:Union presentation in various inductions  Arranged and hosted ice breaker sessions for students in various faculties with different games  Attended Equality and Diversity Group meeting to discuss student liberation and equality  Attended an annual review meeting with QAA to discuss quality and the up-and-coming ELIR review  Coordinated training and induction of appointed Faculty Officers  Wrote to Ferdinand and Jennifer to propose introduction of a third student representative appointed by RGU:Union to the RGU Board of Governors  Begin investigations into placement structures at RGU, to look at enhancing placement representation at RGU  Attended a meeting with university senior management to discuss the up and coming ELIR review

Aberdeen

• Officially launched the Safe Taxi Scheme – Aberdeen with Facebook page, Twitter account, press coverage, and e-mail communications to students • Met with North East Scotland College sabbaticals and staff as an introduction and to discuss collaboration. • Coordinated the operational plan for the Safe Taxi Scheme – Aberdeen, setting up procedures for the service to run. • Attended Garthdee Community Council meeting to discuss RGU working with the community

Scotland/UK  Submitted and official response to the Education and Culture Committee on RGU:Union’s views on the HE Governance Bill.  Engaged and discussed with NUS Officers through social media and e-mail  Worked with NUS on HE Governance Campaign planning  Initial plans for work on accommodation issues, such as arranging meeting with Shelter Scotland

 Safe Taxi Scheme - Aberdeen Launch a scheme that allows students to always get a taxi home safely even if they don’t have any money, they can use their student card as payment.  Freshers Welfare Campaign Working to raise awareness of drinking culture, and to promote a safe Freshers Week to incoming student.  Get Involved Campaign Promote the range of opportunities and activities RGU:Union offers to students and encourage student to get involved.
